My S4 + LTE has much worse battery life than my S3+LTE.

I set it up as a new watch, so I initially forgot about BAR being on. I just went through and disabled a bunch, as well as turning off ‘availability’ for WT.

Hopefully there’s some improvement tomorrow.

I turned off availability for walkie talkie too and will see if it makes difference tomorrow. I only have BAR on for a couple core things ... Mail, messages, activity, etc. maybe 6 things -far from the entire list.

It’s on the second full charge.

Apple did say that there is an 18h battery life, and it looks like we’re both hitting that benchmark. Doesn’t mean we can’t be optimistic!

I’m going to try non-infographic Watch have on Monday to see is that improves the battery life. Too bad the regular modular face doesn’t take full advantage of the whole screen.

Indeed ! Coming from a S0 this is great battery life. Still, I am hoping for S3 like battery life.

Many reviewers claim 2-3 days with normal use for the series 4,really hope that's true, if it won't last 1.5 days I will most likely return it.

Yeah I feel the same. Same or better than what I was seeing with the S1. I mean, not terrible either though. I charge every night when I’m sleeping anyways.

I’m hoping in the coming days that the battery life improves.

I wonder if the infographic modular face eats significantly more juice than the standard modular face.

I am running the Siri watchface, and it still runs my battery down. I think Apple didn’t optimize watchOS 5 well.

Turning off available of Walkie talkie doesn’t help. I have tried it all.

After using mine all day yesterday I had 48% left at midnight. I tracked a 45 minute workout, played with the heart monitor a bunch of times and continued customizing watch faces. This includes using the walkie-talkie function a couple of times for a goof.

Have not done anything to try and optimize battery life. Mine is the non-LTE model.

Battery is been great AW4 44mm. start 8AM and this morning 8AM 30% remaining. no workout yet but I have got text and other notification too. I was coming form S0-42mm. Huge improving. will test this week my normal daily workout. Well worth it if battery can hold up for 24 hours. it is not like you going stay 24/7 lol enjoy it!

Only a couple of days into Series 4 usage, but I'm finding battery life extremely good when compared to my old Series 0. For example, I started the day this morning around 8.00am on 100% charge. Right about now (6.40pm) I've only used up 12% of battery.

I've also been using the Watch a fair bit more than I would my Series 0, as I've been playing around with the different watch faces and complications, etc.

Based on this, I think this Watch will easily be able to give me two days on a single charge which my series 0 could never do.

I've also noticed a strange synchronicity in the battery usage between my iPhone and Watch - the three or four times I checked today, they've been moving down in sync :):

I plan on using sleep tracking (autosleep), so I may put on charger while I shower in evenings and wear overnight then charge while getting ready for work. Hopefully I dont have to charge at work. I have the gps model because the lte is a ripoff. Only difference is when away from phone-I always have my phone close by :)

That’s crazy good. My S1 didn’t get anywhere near this. Or my S4 for that matter.

How do you turn off walkie talkie availability?

If I delete FaceTime from my phone to get rip if the WT app and then reinstall FaceTime, does the WT app come back?

I have an S3 that doesn’t really like WOS5.

Is any of your time away from the phone using LTE.?

That's my plan too.

I took mine off the charger last night at 10 pm. It's a 44mm LTE Model (Aluminum). Wore for 2 hours before sleeping. Then wore all night in do not disturb mode and theater mode, woke up after 7 hours sleep. Put in normal use mode. This morning ... it was at 88%. I wasn't too impressed with 12% loss when most of the time the screen was off, but anyway, since then it's now 2 pm and I'm at 69%.
Phone says 15.5 hours standby and 2 hours usage ...

Much better today. Put it on at 9 AM, did a fundraising walk (it prompted me to start a workout), did some Walkie Talkie and more walking. I’m now at 87% after 6 hours of normal usage.

Usage : 2h15
Standby : 11h58
69% left

I saw some people on series 2 & 3 reporting increased battery drain on WatchOS 5. I wonder if series 4 watches are also affected.

My Watch is GPS only, so no cellular. I did debate getting a cellular version but I take my phone with me everywhere - even to the gym, so it didn’t seem worth it to me.

One other interesting thing regarding the gym: Previously I would have to keep my phone in my shorts pocket to receive messages, etc. as the locker rooms were too far away for the Watch to connect.

However I saw that Series 4 had upgraded Bluetooth, so I tested this yesterday and was happy to find I could leave my phone in the locker and my Watch would still connect while I was in the equipment zone (there’s no WiFi at my gym, so it wasn’t connecting like that). Seems like the upgraded Bluetooth has increased range as well as increased speed.

So far, i’m super-happy with my Series 4!

Sleep tracking is intense tho, thats actually pretty good. My gear s3 frontier killed battery with sleep tracking. 12% overnight to have sensors at hightened awareness is not bad.
