for me, this is still the biggest driving force for this product. this is where apple needs to be investing the majority of their R&D money. let's see them produce or fund the next major advancement in battery technology, Mr. Fancy $1-trillion Company. i returned the S3 within 14 days, and looks like it'll be a pass on this Series as well.

I’ve had mine on since 7 or 8 AM yesterday and today it is still at 26%. It might even make it to the end of the day today. Had to find out how long it could go at least.

did you use the breathing app or do any workouts? Walkie talkie on or off?
Thanks.

No workout yesterday. Used breathe but only once (I tend to not use that) and only one Walkie-Talkie exchage. I do expect the latter is probably a battery beater and probably same to use it as stand alone cellular?

Do you lose all data/setup if you unpair the device? AW4 is my first so not sure if it does or not... cheers

No.

The unpairing backups up your watch to your iPhone and then when you re-pair you can restore from that backup.

Took watch off charge at 14.00 and at 19.15 I’m on about 83% left. Not done hardly anything on it.

Guess better measurement will be first thing in the morning.

Switched Walkie talkie available off..might switch off background fresh off for all apps I rarely use

My wife's 40mm had a fresh charge on Saturday morning. We went for an overnight trip and forgot our watch chargers. Obviously my Series 0 died around 6pm (44mm is on the way) but her watch made it until Sunday at bedtime with 30 something percent charge left. It was a pretty lazy weekend trip to take my kids halfway across the state to my grandparent's place so we didn't do a work out, but still, not bad.

I unplugged my 40mm yesterday at 7:00 from the charger (98%) and it lasted until 13:00 today (power reserve). No workout, but HeartWatch, Pillow, Autowake, Cardiogram, Autosleep and a few weather apps currently installed.

The battery on my AW4 LTE has not been as good as on my AW3 LTE. Also i've noticed that I'm getting more calories per activity or even being sedentary with this new watch. And it's giving me credit for exercising more then I actually am- meaning i'm getting exercise credit at times when I'm not exercising; maybe my heart rate is a bit elevated and that's getting counted as exercising

I have background app refresh on. I turned off raise to talk today; we will see if that helps. The non-stock apps I have installed are: autosleep, Duo, Fandango, Heartwatch, and MyTelemed. These are the same apps I had on my AW3.

Wife and I are both getting way more exercise credit than before.

She went around 4 times on her move ring today.

I have a Series 4 LTE (44mm) and had a Series 3 LTE (42mm) before. Unfortunately, I can confirm that the battery life of S4 is worse than S3. On the S3 I could easily do two full days without charge and still having about 20% or more left. Normally, after a normal work day with a little bit Siri, messaging and mostly using it for notifications and without Workouts I had 70+% left before bedtime.

On the S4 it's about 50%. Again, this is WITHOUT workouts, walkie talkie, etc.

Today I had my first workout (60min run with LTE) and my watch now is down to 30%.

I really hope that this gets fixed with a software update.

Does anyone here have about 70% left on a normal day?

End of a 15 hour day here and my battery is at 56%. That's with all my tweaks enabled and a workout.

Average battery drain is 2.93% per hour

AW3 with WatchOS4 had an average drain of 1.66% per hour.

Battery life is terrible. My series 4 is currently at 64% at 5pm with very light use and a one hour workout.

Walkie talkie is enabled, but I had it enabled with the gold master OS on my series 3 and I never came close to running out of battery or even cracking the 50% mark. And that was with really punishing the watch with workouts and gps activity.

Apple is stupid. They gave us a pretty new watch with a battery 16% smaller than the previous generation. People were asking for more battery life, and in typical stupid Apple fashion, they choose form over function and give us a product that isn’t going to last an entire day unless you turn everything off and don’t dare do a workout with it. Morons. If this continues I’ll be returning mine before the 14 days and this will be my last Apple Watch.

I repaired my S3 LTE yesterday after it died again from what I could tell was minimal use, 3.5hrs of usage. I also shut down most of the background refreshing apps and the working detection off.

Right now I have 4 hrs 30mins of usage and 35% remaining. Still not pre iOS 5 levels but better.

HOWEVER, no outdoor runs while streaming music today, just basic strength training without streaming. I suspect the outdoor runs (or anything tracking GOs maybe?) is the culprit of massive battery suck? Just fingers crossed an update fixes this.

wow AW 4 battery way better than S0 i alway use full bright.
Usage 7 hours 18 minutes
Standby 1 day, 14 hours
10% remaining
did 30 mins workout running and next day too
it really give me like 40% 6am to 9PM both days that is great!

Obviously s4 will be better than s0. More efficient processor, Bluetooth, also a fresh battery. S0 has been out for over 3 years now and if you are still using one will have bunch of battery cycles by now. So comparing it s4 is pointless. That’s like comparing iPhone 4 to iPhone 8.

If I turn off BAR in an attempt to conserve battery life on my AW4 (40), can I still receive incoming walkie-talkie messages?

Thanks all, seems like i need to reconsider this years AW purchase. as i was aiming to buy one with LTE and leave my phone at home, but if i have to do mid day recharges that will suck as LTE sucks battery when the phone is not nearby.

Or i buy a second hand S3 which has a physical bigger battery, which too me is more important then the bigger screen or EKG which i will never get as i dont live in the US anyway..

Hey y’all, does the watch drain much overnight if not charging? Left mine on the stand, dropped to 93% after about 6 hours.
Sound about the same as mine. Left mine on the stand, dropped 11% after about 10 hours. My watch is AW4 44mm GPS.

While not the 2 days we had before it still beats Apples 18 hours claim.

Usage: 5 hours
Standby: 1 day 3 hours
Current charge: 24%

Put on the 40mm, yesterday at 6:30am, went to bed with Sleepwatch and auto sleep on and woke up today at 5am with 45% still left.

Views on this seem very polarised. Those coming from S0 to S2 seem overjoyed that they get more than a days usage. Those coming from S3 are disappointed that despite the clear apple statements during the keynote that they would get longer battery life, most are reporting significant reductions.

Why do Apple need to be so 'cryptic'?
