Was at 33% and 4-ish hours of moderate usage with almost 2 days of standby on my 6. Not sure how to get the 8-10 hours everyone else is getting here.

I was really happy with my plus until I read this thread.

I'm at 39%. 7 hours 34 min usage. 15 hours 45 min standby. This after a very heavy day that would have killed my 5S.

Maybe I'll let it run down tonight and charge it up tomorrow.

This is after having Sleep Cycle on overnight while I was sleeping (around 8 hours) and some usage on wifi. Pretty good so far, but I'm looking forward to taking it through its paces on a regular work day and seeing how it holds up.

It'd be nice if everyone posted whether or not these numbers are mostly on wifi or not. My numbers on my 6 are from me being on 4G, not lte, for the first ~70%. I see some of these numbers are much better than mine and if they are from being on wifi for the majority of it that makes a little more sense. But if I could still improve my battery life still then that'd be great. I have all the usual battery tricks done, brightness set at about 40%. It's definitely better than my 5, I know that much.

Anyone think I could benefit from doing the fresh start? I restored from backup originally. This is on my 4th full charge.

Battery %: 12 remaining

Usage: 5:31
Standby: 12:22

Last 24s:
Facebook 21%
Messages 19%
Safari 17%
Instagram 15%
Home and lock 11%
Snapchat 6%
Mail 3%
YouTube 3%
Then the rest 1%

Does that thing really work? Was surprised to see 4.5 stars. How in the world does it measure your sleep with sound?

:apple:

It uses the accelerometer to measure how much you move during sleep - deep sleep being associated with muscle paralysis and little movement - and uses sound to wake you up when you're in very light sleep. :) I don't have anything to compare to but it seems pretty good!

This is after 25 hours, on my first real battery cycle after draining it the day after getting it on Friday. Could not be happier with it.

With a lot of phone calls your usage is through the roof. That's on track for 15 hours! Guess this new iPhone is even better at sipping power while on voice calls.

I'm pretty disappointed so far. What do you think.Usage was Like whatsapp on the Train for half an Hour.

That's pretty bad. A pattern I'm noticing on bad battery life is a lot of WhatsApp and Facebook usage. Maybe those two apps drain battery like crazy (probably Facebook uses the most, if I were to guess).

Sorry to get off-topic, but I'm really excited about this.

No worries. Any tips on improving battery life is welcome!

I think this is pretty darn good

That's just like mine. Very good.

This is on my 6+. About 3 hours better than my 5s with same settings and usage.

Do you need Bluetooth turned on all the time? If not, turn it off to squeeze out some more battery life.

If your number one battery drain was the Home & Lock screen then please don't even bother posting an image. Nobody cares how many hours you can squeeze out of standby.

Home & Lock is actually quite deceptive. My girlfriend gets notifications all throughout the day so that constantly wakes up the lock screen and puts that app high up in the list. People who message a lot will be in the same boat. It's still worthwhile to post as it means these people can get even better battery life by shutting down unnecessary notifications.

Also the hours to look at is usage. Standby isn't too important as you point out.

how does this look?

nothing crazy in my usage. mostly web surfing, email and texting. i listen to about 2 hours of podcasts a day. on wifi maybe 85% of the time.

Looks decent but could be better. Are you streaming the podcasts? That would use more power. If you could download them first, like me (I listen to a lot of podcasts), the wifi radio doesn't need to turn on and off all the time and I'm up to about 9-10 hours battery.

Was at 33% and 4-ish hours of moderate usage with almost 2 days of standby on my 6. Not sure how to get the 8-10 hours everyone else is getting here.

I am on a new install (not restore from backup). I have auto brightness on. Rest are defaults except for background fetch which I have turned off. Also any app that lets me set "privacy/location to when in use only" I've changed to when in use only versus always. Oh bluetooth is also off for me until I need it.

Pretty good so far, but I'm looking forward to taking it through its paces on a regular work day and seeing how it holds up.

That is CRAZY GOOD battery life. Is that an iPhone 6 Plus?

Anyone think I could benefit from doing the fresh start? I restored from backup originally.

My girlfriend tried to restore from an iPhone 5 backup and had a lot of weird issues and problems. Siri would activate without turning on the screen, battery drained fast, etc. A fresh start solved that.

My battery life with some heavy text and IG usage. Literally plugged it in once for less than 2 min to sync some songs

Phone used from 11am to 2am. Pretty pleased with it

Edit: Started the phone fresh, no restore.

Are you guys turning off any stuff in location or system preferences? If so What? :)

Seriously pleased with the Battery life on my 6. This is mainly connected to Wi-Fi and I set the phone up as new rather than from backup and it's streets ahead from my 5S:D

don't be worried by this thread. People in here are hardly using their iPhones. Its how you use it and how that compares to your last iPhone that counts. Many of these people are actively trying to get the best scores on the leader board ;)

I've noticed some in my Battery Usage screen. A few apps show "Background Activity", which must certainly be related to Background app refresh. Yet I see apps there which not only are turned off in my background app refresh page, but even don't show there up at all - for example Flipboard. It's not even on the list of background app refresh - yet for some reason, in battery usage it's showing background activity. Does anyone notice something similar?

The more annoying thing I have there is Mail (I'm using only the stock mail app with Gmail, and iCloud's email component is off). It's also showing background activity and was hovering between 6 and 14%. Assuming it's related to how often email is fetched, I decided to test it a bit. I was worried because I don't use mail much, and it's been set to check hourly since years!
I thought if I would change fetch to manually, there should not be any background activity. Not so, in fact it didn't change at all, and stayed around 10% for the two days I leftit on that setting.
Then I decided to turn off the email account from the settings. At first I thought there was some improvement but after again close to two days, it's around 8% and still shows background activity. What is going on? Mail is completely unusable in this setting yet it drains the battery very actively. Anybody sees something similar on their phone?

Here is mine. Is this good?

I am being throttled by AT&T to under 1 Mbps until tomorrow, so probably half of that safari was at a mega slow LTE speed, rest Wifi. Locations services off, all mail to manual (no push or fetch)background refresh off, most notifications off, no hand off etc.

i installed as a new phone, then backed up from my iPhone 5 backup. For those taking about installing new, do you install completely as new, lose all messages then rebuild your home screen 1 app/bookmark at a time?

Turned off LTE again. I had no cell service where I was for much of my day. Wifi was off entirely.

Went from 50% to 17% in 2 hours. I couldn't get through even a portion of my day. Yes I did a clean install.

You turned off LTE but not in airplane mode? If you had no cell service where you were and you were NOT in airplane mode, I suspect that is what is draining the battery so quickly. It's still looking for a 3G/voice/cel signal.

All LTE 3-5 bars normal usage no streaming video or audio.

7:15 and died. was the second cycle. on 5S would have been 4:45. so happy with improvement but nowhere near 10:00 on the keynote of course.

So this is my result from today . You still think this is great battery life?
I'm seriously thinking about returning it. It's an iPhone 6 64 gb. Wifi all day, 4G Off, Location off, background activities off ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411489810.300772.jpg
