Battery Usage/Life Screenshots iPhone 6

Had a day of ridiculous battery life and was on track for 14 hours of usage on my iPhone 6. I recently did the Pangu iOS 8.1 jailbreak and was lazy this time around and restored from iTunes backup. Was not expecting this at all and am surprised. I'm currently gathering together info and screenshots on all the tweaks and changes I've made to my iPhone 6 since the jailbreak because I'm not sure what is causing this amazing battery life change. Will post my findings later today hopefully.

Don't confuse "usage time" on ios with "screen on time" on Android. For example, If you use a tracker app which uses Gps, it will count towards usage.

I'm quite surprised about the iPhone 6's battery. It's not as bad as I thought ( I used to own a 6+ and note 4). The 6+ has about 2 hours more but it's much bigger

As I posted above, I'm getting dramatically better battery life now that I've restored my iPhone 6 from an iTunes backup and performed the Pangu iOS 8.1 jailbreak. First picture is for reference, which was my 7 hours of usage using only half the battery. Second picture is how I've configured Settings / Privacy / Location Services (forgot to screenshot the stuff that got cut off at the bottom - everything cut like Popular Near Me is off). Third picture is how I've configured Settings / Privacy / Location Services / System Services. Fourth picture is how I've configured Settings / iCloud.

Brightness is left at default auto-brightness mode. Wifi is always on. Bluetooth is always off. Orientation lock is on. Also background fetch is turned OFF.

Before the jailbreak I had my twitter account logged in under Settings. After the jailbreak I've removed my twitter account and removed Twitterrific. This seems to have reduced the "network always spinning" bug in Safari that came about during iOS 8.1. It also seems to have helped battery life. I use twitter through the web now.

Oh I also no longer swipe to close my frequently used apps. I only swipe away things like Camera, Maps, and Voice Over IP apps. This seems to have helped battery.

The jailbreak tweaks that seem to have extended battery life that I have installed include:

Disable Parallax Effect - This removes the parallax effect from the home screen but leaves all the other animations intact (so it's better than using Accessibility Settings / Reduce Motion). Seems to greatly reduce battery use from the home screen which has been a big percentage battery drainer for a lot of people in this thread.

NoLiveClock - Stops the home screen clock from constantly updating and animating. Again reduces battery drain from the home screen.

Light Untrusted Hosts Blocker - Adblock based on host file entries that saves battery and data by not downloading or rendering ads on web sites visited in Safari (should work in Chrome and everything else too that has ads).

Finally my wallpaper is set to the mostly black picture with the top of the earth showing (one of the default still wallpapers). This could possibly be helping my battery by not having to use much power to display the background.

I'm not sure which of these is causing the biggest battery gains. Altogether though they've improved my already great iPhone 6 battery life from about 8-10 hours usage to about 12-14 hours! This is insane. It's now even better than the iPhone 6 Plus I had before.

Would love to see if other people can reproduce my results!

I'm gonna try to reproduce that tonight . Would be great to have a better battery Life .

Hopefully it helps. I remember your battery seemed to drain pretty bad before.

Make sure Pangu says "jailbreak success" and doesn't close. First attempt the app closed early when my iPhone crashed with a blue screen. Second attempt my phone crashed with a red screen. Third attempt it finally worked with no issues.

I had abnormally low usage this weekend on my iPhone 6. I took it off the charger around 8AM Saturday and didn't plug in until 11PM or so on Sunday.

Apple just releases iOS 8.1.1. If anybody wanted to try my battery life jailbreak tweaks do NOT update to 8.1.1 it won't jailbreak. Only iOS 8.0 to 8.1 will work.

If you haven't backed up and restored to 8.1 yet you have a small window of time to do so right now. Apple usually stops signing after releasing a new update after a few hours.

You will not be allowed by Apple to restore or update to 8.1 likely within the next few hours. So do it now if you ever want to do it!

Phew ... Just noticed it and jailbreaked immediately.
Did it on my phone without doing a restore, Because Apple didn't let me restore with 8.1.

Just changed my settings like yours. I will tell u how it goes.

iPhone screen should use the same amount of power for every color. I don't think that the iPhone display uses less energy with darker colors.

You can still restore to 8.1 until Apple stops signing it but it involves an extra step. You would need to google for the official 8.1 Apple firmware and download it. Then in iTunes on Mac you can hold the option key while pressing restore button and then select the file you downloaded. On Windows hold the shift key instead.

Only reason I mention this is last week my girlfriend upgraded via the Over The Air update to 8.1. Jailbroke her iPhone 6 Plus and it was working for a few days. Then she installed a tweak and it froze on Apple logo on the next reboot. Wouldn't boot into safe mode and only way to fix it was to reformat with a full 8.1 restore. Reinstalled same tweak (was some 5 icon home screen tweak) and now it works perfectly.

Doing a full restore will possibly avoid issues later down the road if you have time to do it.

Yeah I wasn't sure either way so I listed all the changes I've made to my iPhone 6 since my battery life radically improved. Even the Twitter account thing might have nothing to do with it but I put it down anyway.

Thanks for the advice.
Please keep us posted how your battery life develops.
I dont notice a difference yet.

Will do. Annoying thing about installing a jailbreak tweak though is that when it restarts springboard the phone thinks it just rebooted so it puts dashes in both usage and standby until you charge it back to 100% again.

Rats on your battery not improving yet. Had high hopes this would help out a few people.

At which times does it restart the springboard ?
Would hurt a lot if I couldn't compare the times anymore

Btw:
I think most of my battery problems are related to the fact that I text a lot! It seems that messaging apps (whatsapp, telegram) are using up much more battery on iOS as they do on android. Just a feeling though , I can't really say if it's true.

I'm not sure if all Cydia tweaks do it on install of the tweak or just most of them. Basically it does it once for every tweak you install. It's only a problem right now as I'm testing out different tweaks each day.

It seems like there is a slight improvement . I'll keep u posted.

Edit: false Alarm , no improvement :(
Maybe someone Else could try it and post their results.

Have any of you had problem with a loud home button? I've gon through 2 display replacemnts and 1 full device replacement and ended up with a flawless phone except for the home button loud and clicky. I have the iPhone 6 Plus 64GB Space Grey.

You're on pace there for over 10 hours of battery. Roughly 10% per hour usage. That's not better than before? That's still really good. What's that text under mail? Does that translate to low signal or background activity or something?

Seems very good. Better than the average in this thread but hard to tell exactly since you plugged in your phone before taking the measurements.

All three iPhone 6/Plus I've bought had clicky home buttons that were louder than my 5s. Testing it now yes they are pretty loud. I didn't think this was a flaw though. Thought Apple intentionally did this?

This is okay but not what i hoped for by jailbreaking.

I again notice very high drainage when moving from bad reception areas to areas with wifi back and forth the whole day. ( my usual work day )

The text below mail suggests background activity.
I think mail might be a problem too.
It's always at 10 percent and I don't write any mail the whole day. It's set to fetch hourly.
Got 1 Gmail account and 1 exchange account from work. The maximum amount of mails I get on a workday is 20.

This is off-topic , but the button stops to click that loud after a few days. Enjoy it while it lasts :)
