That's awesome battery life. Your screenshot also dispels the theory that WhatsApp is a battery drainer. I'm starting to see more screenshots these days with great battery life with heavy WhatsApp use. So I guess we can rule that app out for people's battery issues.
I have an iPhone 6. Am kinda satisfied with the usage comparing to my 5s. What do you guys think?
Only on pace for 6 hours of usage there, so your battery life isn't that good. I think 8 hours is doable for the iPhone 6 in general, with a few of us getting 9+ hours.
I'm kind of worried about mine
As above you're only on pace for around 6 hours of usage. It could be the background activity in Photos app though. Maybe it's still syncing with iCloud and downloading a lot of photos.
I'm not sure if I should get 6 or should I keep my 6+!!! 4.7" screen seems enought for me. Anyway here is the screenshot from my battery usage. Some advice about that would be nice. Thanks.
Your battery is AWESOME. If you need or prefer the bigger screen, you could consider upgrading to the iPhone 6 Plus. I didn't really notice the OIS in the Plus model to make much of a difference in normal pictures, even in low light. Surprisingly the Plus model fit in my pocket when I tried it at the Apple Store and the big screen wasn't too bad to hold in my hands. I liked it a lot.
Do you guys have "reduce motion" turned on? Is parallax still a battery drainer?
I don't have that turned on. I'm guessing I could get more battery with parallax turned off, but I don't think I can turn just that off without also turning off the zooming animations, which I actually like.
Just wondering.. On the apple website where it says the 6 battery should get 10 hours Internet use on 3G, 11 hours on wifi etc.. Is this accurate for real life or are these tests done in very controlled environments? (E.g screen on the lowest, all features turned off).. I'm currently getting about 7/8 hours usage and wondering if I should get it exchanged?
7/8 sounds about normal - it depends on what apps you use and what settings you have on/off. Also varies a lot due to how strong your cell reception/signal is in your area. The Apple numbers are in a very controlled environment. It's probably 11 hours of using nothing but just the Safari app with no switching to any other apps. I could probably get close to that (I've gotten to 10 hours with my usage) but it would be very boring to reproduce those results sitting all day just using Safari and nothing else.
So it seems like battery for the 6 is averaging around 5-8 hours of usage, just by looking at this thread? I'm assuming the ones getting around 8 hours are mostly on wifi but Apple still advertises that the IP6 should get 10 hours of LTE browsing. Should people like me who are getting more like 6ish of usage have a reason to be salty with the battery life?
I think you should be salty about it, yes. If you aren't at least getting 7-8 I'd worry that something is messed up with a restore from backup, or that the battery is faulty, or that some App is going hog wild and preventing your iPhone from idling properly. Be especially wary if the usage time is equal or close to the stand by time. If those numbers are nearly the same it's a clear sign of something faulty.
I was also wondering that, if you get say 6-7 hours on wifi should you speak to Apple? My 6 is about 30-40% brightness, icloud, location, background app refresh etc are all off and today I got 8 hours standby and 6 hours 30 mins usage. I was on wifi for 7 out of the 8 hours my phone lasted so should I speak to Apple/try to exchange it?
I'd try a clean install first, but I know that's a big pain for most people. Usually the restore from backup is what messes most iPhones up.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the battery usage screen restart after the full charge is made and not when the phone is unplugged? Therefore, all of these screen shots could be way off if the phone isn't immediately unplugged after a full charge.
You are correct in that the battery usage screen resets after a full charge. But you're wrong in that plugging in the phone is immediately noticeable on the screenshots because there is a message under the standby time warning something like "phone has been plugged into the charger since the last full charge". So the screenshots without that message are completely valid measurements of actual battery life.
[edit] can't upload images from iOS???
This bug should be fixed in iOS 8.02 according to the release notes. I haven't tested it yet though.
