Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the battery usage screen restart after the full charge is made and not when the phone is unplugged? Therefore, all of these screen shots could be way off if the phone isn't immediately unplugged after a full charge.

I guess everyone wants to live in the fog.

I'm not sure about yours, but mine does not start counting usage until I unplug it. For example I woke up yesterday, took my phone off my nightstand, left it plugged in and did about 15 minutes of e-mails and messages. I went into battery usage about a half hour later, and only had 7 minutes of usage and 22 minutes standby. HI had been using it for about 45 minutes at that point. Also my phone is at 100% right now, I just watched a 6 minute YouTube video, unplugged it and my usage and standby both say 0 minutes.

Ok, just set my new iphone 6 up last night. Restored from back up from my 5. Unplugged at 100% and it continued to restore all my many apps. It took quite a few hours to update before i went to bed. Now it looks like this!! Haven't used facebook that much to be fair! This is the top 4 usage.

Usage: 13h 43m
Standby: 15h 30m

Facebook: 17%
Home & Lock: 13%
Backup/Restore: 13%
Safari: 9%

I've deleted facebook for now to see if that is the issue. Could it be possible that the backup/restore is still ongoing somehow? I don't have background app refresh on and location services are used at a minimum. Could be a change of phone already!

Is that a 6 or 6 plus? If that's a 6 then that's awesome battery life.

It's a 6 mate, 128GB. It's the usage compared to the standby that's worrying me; it's almost identical. The usage total keeps going up even when i'm in standby. Heck, even for the 6 hours i was asleep!

Spoke to Apple support today about my battery life and they think it's the software so currently doing a restore via iTunes and we will see how it goes. Hoping it is software because getting 6 hours usage on wifi is a bit of a joke when Apple starts 10 hours using 3G and 11 using Wifi.

I'm happy with the battery, here's the result from my 3rd charge.....

O.k. I didn't use it much, but I have days like that. Must add most notifications are off, background app refresh at a minimum as well.

maybe i should del facebook app see how much better the useage gets

Have you used facebook much tho? I haven't see, a few minutes here and there. Most of the time it's been on standby and facebook usage is showing up the most. That's why i deleted it as it seems it keeps taking up usage in standby; hence the usage/standby times being almost identical.

Are you guys with the bad battery life reporting after your first charge cycle? From many devices I have owned that I get new straight out the box, give it a few charge cycles before running back to Apple for right now.

I don't understand what is wrong with my phone or what I'm doing wrong. Yesterday I was at 4 hours and 59 minutes of usage (roughly 17 hours of standyby), and my battery was at 15%.

I have restored and set up my phone as a new device via iTunes as well as performed a DFU restore. I have disabled all suspect settings and I even tried disabling my iCloud accounts for awhile but it made no difference.

Same here, going to apple tomorrow and asking for an exchange

So this is after nearly one week. All power saving options used, no Heavy use. iPhone 6

If apple is not gonna replace it tomorrow i will be so pissed.

I was having terrible battery life as well and even went to an apple store. Tey ran a diagnostic and said that the battery life was at 100% and that it was a software issue and recommended I did a reset of the phone and start fro scratch (not from my backup as it could potentially be corrupt) but I refused as I did not want to lose all my data and was trying to wait until 8.0.1 came out.

However I tried somethign different that seemed to have worked. For all of those having trouble with their battery life I would strongly suggest resetting all settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings).

My 64GB iphone 6 was getting 5 hours usage and 6hours standby at first and after I did this I just got 9.5 hours and 22.75 hours standby.

After resetting settings I had to manually turn on all features (siri, touchid, notification center, icloud email addresses, etc) but it has worked perfectly so far.

Will try this right now. Thanks for the tip!

I was also told the same thing by the Genius that I talked to, which is a completely unacceptable answer considering I had JUST restored from a clean, empty backup that only contained my messages and pictures. No settings, no apps. In the end I contacted AppleCare and was very patient and calm with the senior advisor that I spoke with and he thought it was ridiculous that I could barely get 4.5 hours of usage with less than 8 hours of standby and that regardless of the fact that the battery appears normal, that battery life definitely isn't.

He gave me a case number to give to the Apple Store that's near me and put in some case notes saying that I deserve a replacement phone and that if they still won't give me a phone then to call AppleCare and they'll just mail me one. Overall, the AppleCare senior advisor was extremely helpful and understanding (he even said he'd be pissed with battery life like that and that having been to told to restore my phone as new or deal with it was a terrible solution that the Genius gave me, but that he understood where they were coming from).

I'm supposed to go pickup my 5c on Monday since it was getting it's display replaced, so I'm going to try your tip and if battery life still sucks for me then it looks like I'm getting a replacement. Will reply back with any findings on whether your tip worked!

Oh, well that's definitely not normal. I thought that was just straight usage and standby which would've been amazing. Seems like you've got an app running in the background constantly. The fact that it's taking that long to kill your battery is still pretty impressive though. Mine doesn't even make it past 6-7 hours of standby with less than 5 hours of usage.

Took after a day of being on it most of the day ok lte the whole day at work. Just my second charge cycle so I don't know what to think. Any comments? I didn't think it was really good but maybe more charge cycles will help it.

Battery Usage/Life Screenshots iPhone 6

That's after its first full charge

Still a little confused as to what exactly it means by standby time though, originally I thought standby is how long it's been with screen off since unplugged but at moment using the phone both usage and standby time is increasing as we speak, so almost think standby time now represents how long it has been on battery power and usage then represents how many of those standby hours has been screen time??

Yes, that's correct

I'm not sure what to think about my 6's battery. The first two days were really bad, then Monday I got 23:40 standby and 7:22 usage (observed at 1%)

Today? 12:13 standby and 6:27 usage and I'm at 13%. I was in the same location all day on both days.
