I am at 37% on a DNP

3 Hours, 56 Minutes Usage

5 Hours, 51 Minutes Standby

I just got this one today as my first iPhone, only problem is that it has a stuck pixel on darker backgrounds. Going to see if I can get a Brand New Box Replacement when I am near there on Tuesday (Should be able to because of the 14 Days).

Anyone think this is average or is it bad?
Also, anyone have any dead/stuck pixels on their screen?

yeah got one on replacement phone, returned it without even setting up. Genius bar gave me new one.

My 4s battery life is fine. In fact, way better than my old 3G was! I don't need to charge until bedtime, even with lots of use during the day.

However, I live in Canada, and as yet don't have the same access to location services associated with Siri...I wonder if that's why I am not having issues?

Some days mine is worse than others. I'm literally watching the percentage dropping. I've lost 15% with 33 minutes of usage this morning. This phone is just not consistent enough to trust.

My wife and i have new 4S's.
I took both of them off charge at 08:00. I turned wi-fi off on both last night.
Mine has taken just two calls and i sent two texts. I've essentially shut most notifications off mine also.
At 15:00 my battery is down to 60% (better than yesterday but i feel it's no longer a 'smart' phone what with everything turned off!) - usage says 3hrs and 3mins. I don't fully understand usage, i bet its truly been on and doing something for 20mins max!!

My wife phones battery states 89% and the usage is 39mins.

I must confess (and it hurts me to say it as an Apple lover) - I'm very disappointed with the battery life. I was so close to getting an SG2 but loyalty convinced me to stay- I am however delighted with my iPad2 battery.

A question for you guys - Do i have a good enough cause to take back to Apple?? :(:(

If you are still within the 14 day return window, Apple is required to take it back for whatever reason. However, you could also probably get it exchanged at the genius bar, though the posts in this thread suggest you may not have better luck with a replacement. Have you tried doing a restore and setting the phone up as new?

i do think now that turning off calendar and reminder notifications in the center help a great deal. on standby, now my phone lasts at 100% for awhile just like my iphone 4. i'm not sure if in-use drainage is more than the 4 now, but i certainly see the value in turning off those things in the notification center -- try it out guys and see how it works for you.

last night traffic under location services > system services was on for an hour before i turned it off myself

anyone see this service running for long periods of time?
what is it used for? to get traffic info for maps?

Was getting same issues as others in this thread, Getting MUCH better life out of mine now. Haven't adjusted anything.

Push email/iCloud seems to be a problem for me. I turned it off last night, and battery barely went down all night. Turned it back on this morning, and without using the phone, I'm down 10% in a couple hours.

I am not turning that off. My Android was setup to poke me whenever someone contacted me, no matter how. It worked without killing my battery. Apple can make it work, or I guess I'll return this thing...

I am getting better battery life after the first week and after I restored as new. I've turned off all of the so called "culprits" like Ping/Diagnostics/Siri Raise to speak etc. However what I am noticing is the crazy drain in regards to standby time. I went to bed with 80% battery life and after about 8/9 hours, I looked at my phone it was already down to 73%...The drain wasn't nearly as bad during the day. I do have push email from a gmail account and I did have WiFi on. However I did not have WiFi on until later in the night last night and I think that may be a culprit. I do not have WiFi sync either as my laptop was in sleep mode overnight. As I write this, I have 2 hours 8 minutes usage and 1 day 1 hour of standby with 58% left. Not bad, but what is troubling is the 7% loss overnight in standby mode, which is crazy considering my iP4 could sleep for 10 hours and maybe lose 1% or 2%. Just wanted to share my experience with everyone - I hope this can be fiixed via software patch and is not hardware related.

Same here. Push seems to really drain the battery for me. Especially iCloud push. It's not supposed to do anything unless on wi-fi and charging but I don't think that's the case.

I just did a restore as new and right now I'm at 74% with 1 hour 24 min usage/2 hours 8 minutes of standby. That was with Push. I've changed it to fetch so we'll see if that makes a difference.

Update:

I'm very happy to report the new AT&T 4S I got as a replacement for the 4S (that died completely) is returning battery life so long I've not even bothered to measure it.

The difference between this and my iPhone 4 (that returned great battery life) is nearly unbelievable. It's so good that it's no longer a concern. The day to day, heavy usage leaves the phone with 40% remaining after a twelve hour day. If I didn't experience it first hand I would not believe it.

It's also important to note that each days usage is not only heavy, but consistent. Now after well over a week I thought I'd report back. I believe in recognizing Apples successes whenever possible, and this is one of those times.

All too often in recent times Apple has done some questionable things like the Antennagate debacle. So when I get to report something good, it's a great feeling.

Another full charge and discharge cycle complete. My stats are:

Usage: 4 hours 39 minutes

Standby 3 days 23 hours

This is with everything on but iCloud.

Mine is flaky.

On my laptop it charges SUPER fast, 2011 MB Air. Plugged into the wall its very slow to charge.

I had it just shut off on me at 8 percent. Try to turn it on and it gives the battery symbol. Plug it in, turns on immediately and its at 10 percent.

I wonder if there are some quality issues. We're taking off for the genius bar to get mine looked at plus my wife's.

When she hits the Camera the shutter stays closed. But when she goes into a text and says take a picture, it works fine. Reset and reboot, no diff.

so i get roughly 5 hours of constant heavy use (not talk but streaming radio, web and email). does that sound right?

i'm gonna keep a more detailed log this week.

I have a 4 and a 4s conifured exactly the same way on ios5 on the same network, when used exactly the same way the 4 loses 8-9% per hour and the 4s loses 13-14 per hour usage. the 4 consistently gets 11 hrs and the 4s 7.5 ( 8 max).

overnight from 100% the 4 will lose nothing nd the 4s will be at 96%.

if there are 4s's getting 10+ hrs usage the my unit is defective.

are there 4's getting 10+ hrs with everything except I massage turned off?
I don't think your's is defective by any means, but i guess I'm the least qualified to say. I did get well over 10 hrs. Heres my results. It Shows almost 2 days standby and almost 13hrs usage. I will say its probably more like 10 hrs though because i did listen to almost 2 hours of music. But played jetpack game and need for speed too. Again I have everything turned on, everything, except bluetooth and exchange. Best results i have had yet.

Traffic (in location services > system services) hasn't come on at all today. Then I get in the car and plug my phone in. Bam turns on. Anyone else?
