These comments are hilarious...i can pick any phone i want. i choose to use an iphone. Flashy gimmicks and customisable home screens are just not needed....if you really need a bigger screen go elsewhere.

Amen to that. I almost went a bit thermonucleur earlier but restrained myself for fear of feeding a troll. :)

You think a larger screen (not stretched) is a gimmick, I feel it's a necessity.

Different strokes, I guess.

So I was hoping all the rumors about the iPhone 5 were a huge joke courtesy of the hugely successful "double down" campaign, and we would have something entirely different right now. We don't, and the disappointment runs on so many levels. Big talk about action on tightening the ship, no more leaks... So much for that plan. That really ups my expectations for the other big declarations. (sarcasim there, Internet). Then there is that phone...

Apple has until early 2013 to wow me with the "completely new Mac Pro", should that fail to be, I'm off this boat. Let's hope something epic happens between now and then.

A lot of what he said is true, especially this part:

" The hardware on the iPhone has been the same for two years, since the iPhone 4 and 4S were virtually identical.

Now, having had two years to plot and scheme, Apple's renowned designer Jonathan Ive has replaced the tiny 3.5in (8.9cm) screen with a slightly-less-tiny 4in (10.2cm) screen? Wow. Knock me over with a feather. What do you do with the rest of your time, Jony?

This is what happens when a company is too cheap to invest in research and development. Did you know that Apple spends far less on R&D than any of its rivals - a paltry 2% of revenues, versus 14% for Google and Microsoft?

No wonder the Android platform, where new models appear every week, now represents 68% of the smartphone market, up from 47% a year ago, while Apple slid to 17% over the same period.

In case you're bad at maths, let me work that out for you: Android's market share is now four times that of Apple. Four times!"

Go back and look at the figures for the android market share - which he could have posted the table and didn't - this was for one quarter! One quarter before a new iPhone release! Use your intelligence and read behind the BS!!
Lastly the BBC commissioned 2 pieces as can be seen above, your gonna get both sides of an argument; diametrically opposed...they're frickin journo's after all......

Completely unsurprising.

The BBC are well known in Scotland as just that - The Biased Broadcasting Corporation.

To be honest, someone needs to shut them down and refund everyone 10 years of TV license money.

Another one with a chip on their shoulder. I expect it's the usual complaint, they're only interested in London and ignore us, etc, etc. Bring on devolution, the sooner the better.

1. I don't have a chip on my shoulder.
2. It's got nothing to do with London.
3. It's got nothing to do its politics.
4. We have devolution. I think you mean independence.
5. I'm Scottish, British, and proud.
6. I despise the BBC.

Regardless, Android is thrashing iDevices in terms of market share.

The 4S is my first iPhone. Last year, a friend of mine was ranting how bored she was with her 4. I couldn't understand why. I never asked. After reading this article, I understand why.

I don't do as much on my 4S as I do on my MBA, so the 4S is fine. And like the article says, reliable and safe, which is all I need. But who know what I'll think months from now.

Interesting article. Thanks for posting.

It is his opinion so it will be biased. We all see Apple differently. I for one see no drastic changes in the 5 to the 4s, but others will call it a complete do-over.

He did bring up some good points but I didn't agree on all of them.
