wiered. i have a 100% perfect condition white 3gs on ios4 jb and unlocked with case and i still got no emails. i think i have a bad title. any one want to help?:)

That guy's not a prick...... sorry, but he's not.

  • Always agree on a price
  • Walk away if they won't pay what you agreed on
  • ALWAYS meet in public
  • NEVER meet where you live

You just did it wrong.

$325 isn't horrible though.

if he drove an hour then lowballed you and you took it, i think the fail is on you not craigslist no?

i meet the weirdest people on craigslist. i am selling my 3gs too, listed for $300 and today a guy wanted to trade me my phone and $300 cash towards his used ipad 32gb wifi. i was like um arent they $600 new and he was like yea well they are hard to get. lolz

and ehh so i spelled craigslist wrong. who gives a damn.
****ing immaturity here is through the roof.

I know, it gets beyond childish here if someone notices a typo.
They automaticly assume and attack you on that.
Kids nowadays I guess

"Immaturity"? "Attack"? Sheesh, why so sensitive? Since when is poking a little fun at someone immature and an attack? Gimme break. And a kid? What? We adults are not allowed to have any fun?

Anyway, I better add something relevant. Wouldn't want someone crying about not staying on topic.

If I were you, I would have stuck to my guns. The guy had already driven out there. I would've just asked him to pay what was agreed upon. You could have always found another buyer. All well, lesson learned.

Just sold my old phone via cregs list and got lowballed to 325 for a unlocked 32gb 3gs(refurb with 2 cases and a never been put on screen protector...). I just wanted to get rid of it and pay for my new phone but man some people are such pricks. we agree on 375-400 and he comes from an hour away to say he wont pay for it unless i give it to him for 325.
I know you all dont care, just saying. Please be clear and concise if you use cregslist. its kinda a crapshoot.

You got bullied. Don't be so pathetic next time. He was knowingly screwing you. You should of told him to **** off.

Ebay is way better. Post 3-4 good quality pictures, give a description of what you're selling, no return policy, $12.00 shipping and you don't need to make awkward conversation and potentially be robbed/stabbed/shot.

This craigslist bs just amazes me.

What amazes me is that people are so willing to sell on eBay. For one, you would be charged $30 or so on eBay for selling your iPhone in the $300 range. Then, you would be charged at least another $10 from paypal (an eBay company, mind you) for "service charges" And then, paypal might even hold onto your money until the item is delivered! Total bull crap. But yet, I still use eBay, but I am not sure why....

I would agree except it's too easy to get scammed on eBay. Buyer can claim they were mailed a box with a rock in it and PayPal and eBay take their side and you're screwed.

I've actually been stressing over selling my 3G because of this. I really don't like either option.

you can actually mail the rock back and provide the tracking info and be covered fyi

EDIT: nvm. i misread.

the buyer would have to mail the item back before they receive any compensation.

I was about to to say, that isn't bad. 325 on CL is like at-least 350 on ebay after all the fees, including paypal and shipping. Plus you are looking at 400 MAX for the phone with 375 being the more realistic max, 325 is a low ball but considering 350 is the more reasonable price, that's only a 25 dollar difference.

P.S. cl > ebay, ALWAYS.

It's kinda common knowledge that Craigslist isn't a great place to sell anything for much profit unless the item is in high demand.

Also, you could have told him you weren't interested in the sale (just like he told you) unless he paid for the price agreed on. I'm pretty sure he would have paid it if you stood your ground but you gave in instead due to whatever reasons.

I don't know where you got that idea from. I've had great success selling an iPad and an iPod and Craigslist for good prices. So have most others who have used it.

actually, he paid the correct price for your phone. I just bought a 32gb 3gs that is only 2 months old in "perfect" condition on ebay for $338. That also includes the case. I think after the seller gets ebay fees deducted, she will have made less money than you did. I would just be happy that you got it over with and move on.

While I agree that coming down from a previously agreed upon price is not the best business practice, if the guy stuck to that price, he would be the one who was ripped off.

I know ebay has the disadvantage of not being able to see the product before you buy it, but if it's not true to description, I'll just initiate a buyers protection claim and be done with it.

Agreed.

I've sold a camera, a PSP, a PS2, memory sticks, an iBook, my 1st gen iPhone, another cell phone, and a bunch of other stuff (over a 4-5 year period). It always went well for me.

Someone tried to scam me for my ps3 with a Nigeria Address, i've read about that online before! I went off on the people saying they were a scumbag and such haha, I looked up the 500 dollar transaction ID on paypal. It didn't even exist, craigslist is sketchy at times.

Craigslist isn't bad. I sold my 3gs 32gb unlocked for 510. And my fiancés for 480. That's a was a week before i4 was announced. And then right after the announcement I paid $250 for a 32gb 3GS but it wasn't unlocked.

Right now there's way too many people trying to get rid of their phones. So the prices are super low right now. Supply and demand, anyone take economics ;)

Always list for more than you want. Never ship. Meet in person. Get cash. NEVER drive far to meet, let them drive. Never take a price you're not happy with. If their pricks walk away. Use google voice. Meet in public. Never miss a sale because you are holding for someone, etc. Don't let them know where you live.

I don't think the guy was being a prick. If anything he took advantage of your bad negotiating skills. That's your fault not his. You just need to learn to stand your ground and not get taken advantage of. BTW, I have had good experiences buying and selling on Craigslist. Buy low sell high.

Ive had the same exact thing done to me. I advertised my imac through craigslist for $100 less than what the same model was selling on ebay for.

Some guy calls and says he wants to buy it, and hed like to come out that night. I mention that the price is firm, and he says "ok". He shows up and I spend an hour of my time going over the computer with him showing him it works, than he says hell buy it but only for $100.00 less than our agreed upon price. Basically I told him its either full price or he leaves empty handed..he paid full price.

I think things are just really tough for some people financially right now so folks are trying to save where ever they can. I sort of felt bad for the guy because its obvious he was in a bad financial spot, but at the same time Im not in the habit of giving my stuff away.

Oh man you've learned one of the lessons I've had to. Be a hardass.

You say "sorry man price is $400 now, or get lost"

I had someone try to low ball me on my laptop one time. A couple of years ago, I was selling a MBP, and I had the prospective buyer check it out and she agreed to buy it. She wanted to see it before buying it.

Later she she said she was 400 short but she still needed/wanted to phone.

I said nope, and the deals off. Funny she called me 10 minutes later and said she had the cash. Out of principle, I called off the sale. I sold it for more to another person.

yes sadly. i was so done with trying to that i just did it. seriously ******* that guy.
he was just a prick and was so nice on the phone. I knew when i called him and he said, well talk when i'm there and ive run out of text messages that something was fishy... but not that fishy.

and ehh so i spelled craigslist wrong. who gives a damn.
