Interesting that this article about Beats is spinning off the service into a separate entity was posted last night too - seems ripe for selling it off...

QUOTE=Codyak;16950742]Beats?? FFS. :rolleyes:[/QUOTE]

Lol no joke. I cannot believe how successful these overpriced head phones are. Amazing how uninformed people are.. I mean if you want to pay a high price for head phones you mind as well go with bose.. At least you get quality sound.

I wonder how many people are aware these head phones are made by the same company that tried to sell 'premium' hdmi cables for 80 only to find that they perform as well as the 5 dollar ones on amazon?

I really didnt think people were dumb enough to purchase items just because of a celebrity name.. Obviously I over estimated the gen pop's intelligence. Apparently they sell so well that 50 cent and ludacris jumped on the band wagon.

Terrible sound (unless you consider bass to be the only important aspect of music) for the price and the build quality of a 20 dollar pair of head phones. FFS.

Beats headphones. Mediocre product, incredible marketing. Not a good sign for a Beats music service.

If its anything like their headphones it will be 400 a month for a really flashy service, full cover art, lyrics, behind the scenes.... but there won't actually be any music. Just like their beats they'll forget the point of subscription music, delivering good music to my ear with quality sound.

Apple stream low quality music, Beats provide low quality headphones. This partnership seems fitting.

And like music streaming services where you don't actually own the music, when you by Beats you don't actually own a pair of headphones.

I love using my Audio Technica. When I worked at BBY forever ago, the Beasts just didn't compare at any level, but people seemed to still flock to them despite my advice.

Yep, great marketing trumps everything.
You can lead a horse to water...

You mean Beats aren't really made by Dr Dre? My heart is broken :(

Just kidding. I don't even know or care who Dr Dre is. All I know is that I'm not going to pay $200-$400 for headphones ever. Think of what else you could buy for $200... including 10 pairs of good headphones.

It's all lies, Dr. Dre isn't even a real doctor.

I "know" that guy - ( meaning know of him) great mind.

But I didn't realize he was behind Beats - that's a disappointment.

Brilliant marketing for sure, but they're so compromised in quality.

The Beats/Daisy thing is just a renamed version of MOG. MOG is probably the ugliest looking of all the streaming music services. The web player skips and stutters. The mobile player for ios and Android are buggy and crash.

It's like the worst music startup has combined with the worst people in the music industry.

I hope you're being sarcastic. My 80 dollar Grados take a crap all over his overpriced Beats.

Grados are classic! I have a Grado SR60 and love it but I swear by the Sennheiser headphones, mainly the PX 100 II (have the original PX 100s too).

I ditched Sony headphones years back after I decided to change it up to Sennheiser. Even Apple headphones are crap compared to them.

Here we go again another subscription service, expecting me to pay to support the current corrupt industry. No thanks, Ill stick to obtaining my music via non financial means, and no DRM.

You just keep telling yourself that because otherwise you will have to admit that you are stealing. Unless, of course you are implying that you personally know all of the artists that are in your collection and they have given you their music as a gift.
I used to take five finger discounts at Wal-Mart too, while rehearsing the same nonsense about some kind of evil empire.
What is the incentive for musicians to make quality product when people like you expect it to be exchanged via non financial means?
I would sincerely like to know how people like you justify locking their car doors and homes.

Beats are absolute trash! My first exposure to them was actually in an Apple store, and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Even the $400.00 Beats Studios sound like torture. All Lows, no attention to highs or mids. The appeal of beats is the "cool" factor of hanging them around your neck, not premium quality audio..The marketing behind them is brilliant, though, because millions are buying these as soon as they hit the shelves without every hearing the noise they produce, or getting hands-on experience with the $10 build quality that comes in a $200-400.00 package.

I recently invested $130.00 in a pair of these beauties, and i have to say that they are the best headphones I've ever used. It took me a few weeks to burn them in to their full potential, but they are absolute powerhouses and destroy beats in every aspect. Can't imagine a better headphone for under $200.00, and they are virtually indestructible. I highly recommend them

If the past is any indication (lala), they'll buy them out and then kill it.

While I agree that Beats headphones aren't good - a lot of bass and not much else, plus hugely overpriced, I'm holding out judgment on Beats/Daisy.

The project seems to be guided by Trent Reznor, with a lot of input from Rob Sheridan, both of whom I'd trust when it comes to sound and making a good product. Nobody knows what the pricing structure will be, but the goal/intention seems to be pretty decent - to provide a better service with a greater emphasis on discovering new music and establishing a relationship between artists and fans/consumers while giving a better deal to artists (as opposed to Spotify etc.)

I'll be interested to see where it goes.
