YEAH! All I need is more mainstream music to be heard on iTunes radio seriously how about make it like Spotify so I do not have to hear the same songs over and over again I really do not want to hear Rap or Pop music while listening to Dance/Electronic music.

I think it all depends on learning what you like and dislike and they sometimes take a little while. The problem i've seen is how songs are listed as to the type of song. I've seen some people list their song in the rock category, when it wasn't rock, it was something different, so I think that might be part of a flaw in the system OR it could be a algorithm that needs more time to learn.

The problem with the streaming services is just lack of tracks even within the artist I select. That's an area I see that needs improvement with these streaming radio services.

Why do i get the feeling that Iovine just suckered apple !

So Apple is spending $3B to get people who listen to rap to think they're cool? I'd rather Apple spend their money on really great technology or something like Netflix rather than a fad that may or may not be popular a year from now. Apple's peers are buying companies around AI, VR and robots, so Apple decides its a good idea to buy a fashionable brand that sells overpriced crappy headphones? That's what Tim Cook sees as the future?

I don't believe Apple is spending $3 billion to get people to listen to rap music, I just think it sad that some people are offended by a possible association with Dr. Dre and the rap industry.

Also, I don't agree with your assumption that Apple will be done with major purchases after they buy Beats. Apple has purchased several tech companies in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Apple also spends billions in house on R&D. Apple will likely also pursue further media acquisitions to expand their
ability to deliver content.

I think it's part of it, don't you?

Maybe a fraction of the reason for doing this.

The racist are coming out of the closet in this thread

No, it's just people that are sick and tired of these losers that don't contribute something positive to society that rely on so-called music that really doesn't offer anything. There are plenty of musicians that grew up poor in the ghetto where they learned how to sing and/or play a musical instrument that have legitimate talent and/or learn how to speak the English language and study and become someone of substance, that don't put out music with THUG mentality. Our society would be MUCH better off without that element.

Ebonics is probably spoken more than English in the US and it's astounding that our country can't seem to do anything about the root of the problem because Rap music certainly isn't improving this situation, it just perpetuates ignorance and immature behavior and some of us are sick of THEM making money when they aren't making it in a manner that's positive. That's MY beef.

If someone tries to pull the race card, I'll show you plain denial and ignorance. it has NOTHING to do with being a certain skin color. It has to do with what they are selling to make the money they are making.

;19092340]Lmao.Its been a rough couple of months for fanboys the world over.First iOS7 had them going crazy. Now this beats business. The bigger screen iphone is going to have the one handed people crazy too.:D

I hope they package some beats with the iPhone 6.Anything is better than those EarPods.[/QUOTE]

Hey man, you do know you are on MAC Rumors, right? You are the least creative troll I've run into, so far. And for the record, would you rather be able to hold your phone in one hand, and be able to fit your phone in a "normal size" pocket; or NEED two hands(galaxy) and have to wear specially designed(stretched and torn) shorts to even carry your phone(tablet). I seriously dont get the whole gigantic phone craze?? Why not just use a laptop at that point and eliminate the monthly bill? And have you ever seen someone use a galaxy to make a call.... flashback to the 80's(minus the 3 foot antenna).

:eek:yeah your right. No one at Apple is as smart as you to figure out they are getting played.Hurry call Cook and Ive.

Beats Co-Founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine Expected to Take on Senior Roles a...

That's an immediate end to any plans I had of subscribing to a streaming service.

Why? That's not to say that any extra cost would be passed on to the end user. Apple is on the backpedal in the music streaming space, they can't be more expensive than Spotify et al., but they have the mega-bucks to offer them better remuneration than the competition.

EDIT - Sorry, Tapatalk didn't put "exclusively" in bold, so I missed the main point of your reply.

Yeah, exclusivity sucks but ultimately that's what Apple may resort to. Bigger royalty payments would almost certainly work, if only for artists spiting Spotify. They basically monetised legitimate music downloads back in the day, so they have form in luring artists on board with lots of money.

OSX Ignorance and possibly a hint of racism here.

Yes.

I am disappointed with some of the naysayers in this thread. I hoped that a group of humans that are/desire-to-be more technology-savvy would be better than that...but alas, it is no more than a subsection of humans across the world...this place is just like every place else.

Correct!

How could a company like Apple even be thinking of doing something like this?

Thanks for the reply, man life can be so trife eh??

Oh ok, you're proud to be ignorant. Kudos to you. Carry on, bigot.

Your opinion might hold more weight if it could somehow be proven if the entirety of the music genre of rap could be proven to have this corrosive effect...but it cannot.

Just as you cannot wish away the music, the conditions that made the artists and producers that create this music cannot be wished away - really really hard work applied generationally will be required to fix the conditions which created such people.

Even the most gangster of "gangsta rap" was created by the conditions that American society allowed. Like it or not, Gangsta Rap is as American as baseball and apple pie. If you flip the musical genre and take a look at the creation tag, it says "Made in America."

I didn't even buy them at today's cost. Just because there is a Apple logo will not change my opinion. That's why it's such a bad move. I even tried their music streaming app and it was not worth it.

It's such a bad move because you don't own them... interesting. Here I was under the impression that companies made moves like this to gain interest from the MAJORITY of consumers. I guess I was wrong. I'll go tell Tim that you don't like it. He'll revoke his bid, for sure.

It appears that way.

If my notions are wrong, I hope these naysayers can better explain their position.

Pretty sad that you all think it has anything to do with the color of ones skin. If I found out tomorrow that Madonna or, say, Lady Gaga were in line for a senior position at Apple I'd feel the same way. I don't think Apple needs to hire entertainers as executives.
