Yer entitled to your own speech pattern, and the values of a lot of rap (the ho', killah parts) don't sit well by me, but English has always been an actively evolving language - and as often as not (or more often) the impetus for change has come from the outer rungs of the socio-economic ladder driving its way into the mainstream (often in active protest and to make a statement of asserting a culture)...

...whether from American Colonial English (detested by the British authorities, and clung to with vigor partly because of it).. ..or Cockney, or coming from Canberra, Kerry, Carolina or Compton ... ..all of which have radically changed the dictionary in England (and the US) over time.

As has technology, science, the age of exploration and more. Get in a time machine go to Victorian England and start blathering about "gigs of RAM," mobos, modems, chipsets, LOL, OMG and such and see who would think YOU were speaking "the mother tongue."

And if English had stopped morphing at a certain point (as kings and others have tried to force it to) we'd all be talking like, what, Chaucer?

So for you to say "Ebonics is probably spoken more than English in the US" is a "false non-equivalence" as what you're (implicitly derisively IMO) saying is that those identified with hip-hop culture aren't speaking English, when the truth is (or be if you don't prefer, haha) they're just not speaking your preferred dialect of English, rather theirs. And they're entitled in this semi-democracy as well...

And as for not making a contribution, consider how many rap artists are using a vocabulary as large as or larger than, yeah, William Shakespeare, who kinda (re)-wrote the book on neologisms (new made up words) in English...

See, e.g., "The Largest Vocabulary in Hip Hop."

So, no, dude, you don't own the English language.

Nobody does (or has) and that's really part of the beauty of it... ...and why English (in all its thousands of variants all evolving on their own as their speakers decide) has become "the world's second language."

Thats fine and dandy and easy for you to say since you speak very intelligently, but the fact of the matter, in todays world, unless you miraculously make it as a rapper or an athlete, ebonics = no job.

Pretty sure they can incorporate Beats Audio via a software update.

Yes and no. On a pure engineering sense, there are many breakdowns on-line showing that the Beats headset is a partial noise cancellation headset allowing the background base into your ears while blocking out the background high trebles.

Supposedly, this nearly matches the acoustic profiles of the wooden and steel warehouses in the New York and Chicago area that "house" started in after Disco flamed out in the early-80s. None of the DJ's could afford Manhatten rents. Hence why they moved to cheap warehouses to continue their craft.

This is the acoustic profile that Dre and company came of age in as they spun vinyl at the old school house clubs. In short, Beats headsets gives you a "house feel" to any music.

Agree. Ebonics is "ghetto speak" and you only can communicate with a minority of people whom mostly live in a welfare culture. Some would say, this dialect was intentionally created to socially ostracize this class.

One thing that really upsets me is when someone manages to get a good education, good job and returns to the hood to meet old friends, inevitably, they are dumped on for "loosing where you came from." When they find out this person has made good money, somehow they "owe something back to the hood."

I didn't refer to anyone specifically. I give it a while and once Apple takes over the opinion of this forum will change, like it usually does. And that's not a bash or an insult to anyone.

Now in jest, is Tim Cook becoming the next Steve Ballmer?

Tim has way too much class and lack of swagger to be Ballmer. Also, Bill Gates is still alive (you think it was a media **** storm when Steve died, just wait til Gates passes.)

Well there's a massive misrepresentation of the situation. Iovine is not an enterainer but he has founded his own music label and is currently an execuative at a Geffen. He's also an experienced negotiator and very hardworking.

Dr. dre's resume includes helping to create profitable companies and music production. He has a reputation for hard work and perfectionism.

Both have more experience with the music industry (at every level) than anyone at Apple.

And that is why Dre and company will fail at Apple. They don't know Silicon Valley culture and only music. They come in with "We are the ****!" and they will be passively idled into the wrong meetings and product planning.

If this deal does go down, I give Dre's people less than a year with most taking their vestments the day it matures and heading back to Malibu and Bel Air.

I have to comment on something that has come up over a dozen times in this thread: people saying 'it's not verified so why are we commenting on it?'

Apparently (aside from some desperate hope on their part that it won't happen for a whole constellation of reasons) these posters completely missed the very name of this website.

Deep fear has struck the very core of serious Apple followers. :D:D But it's a business deal that Apple acted upon for one simple reason, money. Apple plans to make a lot of money with this purchase.

It is verified. No one brags about being a Billionaire. Especially one that is already a Millionaire for the last decade.
I wouldn't be surprised if he buys the Clippers with Magic Johnson. Mo money mo money mo money!!!

It looks like instead of innovating Apple is just buying up everyone they can lately. Hmm, sounds a lot like Microsoft.

You know my worry

And this if pretty deep rooted re Apple.

Woman from Burberry (Fashion Brand)
Nike tie in (Fashion Brand)
Dr Beats (Fashion Brand)

Above all else, to me this SCREAMS that Apple feels it cannot stay at the top and compete by designing, making and selling the best PRODUCTS

They have to try and use Brand and Fashion to get customers. Not the product.

That, if nothing else is a Sad admission :(

It's been talk for months now that indeed apple is going to make iTunes Radio a separate app. If they have that app ready to go soon all they end to do is incorporate the algorithms and some goodies from the beats app. I think it's very doable in 6 months given iOS 7 was a major overhaul and done (some would argue poorly) in less than a year.

It's very possible for them to make a new radio app in 4-6 months months.

That concerns me, too. Hope my concern is unwarranted.

Dr Dre also has a murder rap and various thug activities under his diamond laced, gold studded belt. Lots of money doesn't make these guys NOT thugs. If that's who apple wants to be associated with, that's their deal. Producing music isn't hard work. It maybe time consuming at times but hard? Nope. I'd say he's plenty lucky too...which is fine but it is what it is.

See "Apple," Apples biggest acquisition in history.. You would have to be a moron to think that 3 billion dollars is the biggest acquisition in history. Just a few months ago Comcast and Time Warner merger was into the tens of billions of dollars. I'm insulted. ;)

I wonder how much fibre could be put in the ground for 3.2billion. The company that can shuffle the music, video, or what have you around the country will rule the roost.

Your reading way too much into this acquisition.

Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave,at least buy something cool like Bose not some gangster pants down to your knees wearing overpriced garbage.Every time I see somebody wear those oversized ugly colored headphones I think of a clown. Beats more like Bozo the Clown.

The same Steve Jobs who was video chatting with Dr.Dre at an apple event years ago?The same Steve Jobs who had a face to face meeting with Dr.Dre when he wanted Eminem on the iTunes Store? That Steve Jobs?

Any man as great as Steve Jobs is not as close minded and ridiculous as some of you on this forum.(not the majority, just the loud minority)

This has got to be a piss-take.

Also it is a bit concerning if all these rumors are true. Apple should not need to buy a Spotify competitor. They should have one out already and or have one close to being ready to launch. Beats bought MOG for 15M and got it done and they are a much smaller company with less resources.

I think it's precisely because MOG was a smaller company with fewer resources that they were able to get good licensing deals in the first place. Apple has a hard time negotiating with the labels because the perception is that they're loaded with cash and have a huge userbase.

Where did you hear he has a murder rap? Google turns up nothing.

I what it is about you that would lead you to assume these negative things about Dre (an established business person and producer)? What do you think about the white guy?
