You do know that the music rights are not transferrable, right? Unless you're talking about Beats Radio, which Apple most likely already have.

You do know that there's no way of knowing that right? I'd bet $3.2bn that the rights are transferring intact.

Straight out of Compton to Cupertino. Best thing to happen to Apple in a while.

Get your money, Dre! F*#k these haters.

I know this is their largest acquisition in history, but are there any examples of founders of acquired companies becoming Apple execs automatically?

The closest thing I can think of to that is Steve Jobs and NeXT. But I think that was... um... a little different.

By the way: this news sunk my spirits.

Yea, you could hand senior positions over to a couple celebrities whose only skill is self-promotion.

...or you could just recommit to building better & more innovative & less buggy hardware & software, and your product will sell itself.

They want Beats Music. It got around 750.000 users within the first month of it being in use, and has excellent music rights.

Actually Beats Music has only around 525,000 users, and that includes people on limited trials that expire this month. In comparison Spotify has around 15 million users and iTunes adds 500,000 users... per day.

Beats music rights are not transferrable.

I love watching Macrumors go into a frenzy of wrongness every time something is announced. Reminds me of reading the old archived threads about iPad and iPod announcements where everyone thought Apple was doomed.

In a few months, it will become obvious that Apple has managed to acquire some amazing licensing deals for on-demand streaming. They'll expand iTunes Radio to become a Spotify killer and everyone will look back on the naysayers and laugh at them. There's my $3.2bn wager, anyone wanna take it?

What a joke. Totally embarrassing. I'll be shocked to see anything good come of this. The jokes and negative rep from this has to be overcome 1st. It's like getting in bed with a joke of all jokes - Monster Cables.

I wonder if Tim Cook might be rethinking that after the release of this video, it's not very Apple-like i'd say. It's hard imaging Dr. Dre representing Apple. Not that I'm against it.

See, that's the issue with Beats audio. It's not decent. It's quite horrible actually, especially for how much it costs.

I haven't personally used them and I'm not one to care about bass but they've got to be able to improve MacBooks' and iMacs' speakers.
If anything Dre would "advise" Cook to fix something when he realizes mbs have not even the slightest amount of bass.

Dr Dre as a executive of Apple with his colorful street sense language I'm sure will bring many more customers into the Apple ecosystem.

So this hasn't been announced - only Dr. Dre has been saying something and the Journal is talking about these guys taking senior positions at Apple?

This sounds like an April Fools release that got delayed for some reason…I think what's going to happen is that next week will come and no announcement will happen.

All the outrage here is hilarious to me :D

Well he knows he's thinking. But he's asking exactly what is he thinking.

Tim Cook is the CEO of Apple; a multi-billion dollar high tech leader - not a title that comes from being a shallow idiot, whereas we're just speculating rumour fanatics on some web forum - I don't think the debate of what Mr Cook is thinking is at all important - deriding someone based on rumours is dismissive, short-sighted and laughably irrelevant.

We underestimate someone we've never met, and the thoughts of whom you could never ascertain? Wow, that's pretty arrogant.

Lol you have no way of knowing this. Based on the amount of money that will change hands, I'll bet the rights are transferable.

Because that's how the deals are set up. The post you made before your last was moot being that you thought Apple could actually acquire the rights to the licenses.

Can I know say "**** the police" without getting banned?

They edited it automatically!!!!
