Great review. How does the mic sound on calls?

Haven't tried that yet, hopefully on par with AirPods, but I admit I don't use buds much for calls. Maybe I will grow to do so if they are good.

Another thing I noted... the clicky button is actually really good. On Studio Buds it was mushy and moved the bud around in your ear. Clicking 2 vs. 3 times was sorta difficult. With the Fit Pro there is a really positive tactile click both in feel and sound and its super simple to click once, twice or three times. The bud also doesn't move at all so it feels natural. I prefer it to AirPods (tap your ear) AirPods Pro (squeeze the stem) or Studio Buds (press the poor button.) I'd say the button is even easier and better than the one on the Powerbeats Pro but those of course also had awesome separate volume control buttons that these don't because of their size.

So ... just got these in today ... and I'm immediately returning them. They sound great, they feel great, and they look great, but one of the most important features, transparency mode, is absolutely garbage compared to my AirPods Pro. It's very muddied and it almost sounds the same as not having it on at all. I was really really excited to get these so I am incredibly disappointed. It feels like Apple is reserving the best version of this tech for the Pros. I guess I will wait for the new version of the Pros. Maybe I have a defective unit, but I switched back and forth between the Pros many times for transparency mode and it is a night and day difference.

Weird I had the AirPods Pro’s for a long time (for non workouts due to fit) and I loved Transparency. Studio Bud transparency was WORTHLESS but now that I switched to the Fit Pro I’m thrilled that to me transparency is great again. I pretty much lived in my Fit Pros all afternoon and was holding conversations and doing family life with them in transparency no problem. I think my own voice seems a bit muffled compared to what I remember from the AirPods Pro but the outside world including family voices sounded very natural and clear. I know your mileage may vary but bottom line is I needed buds that fit properly and finally I have them.

I did some real world testing with a few sound sources (TV, people, etc) and it's not as bad as I initially thought it was. They still aren't as good as the AirPods, but they're tolerable. I'm just not sure if I can handle it being not as good as the AirPods because with the AirPods it's like they aren't even in my ears, kind of like magic, and that's very important for me when running. I'm really torn right now because the Beats sound better and they are comfortable and they most definitely don't even budge in my ears. But transparency mode not being as good as the AirPods is a bit jarring. I'll give them a few days before I decide. They really are great though, but hearing myself more muffled reminds me of over-the-ear headphones and I don't like that at all.

I mean other than the stems looking weird the AirPods Pro’s sound great and have all these same features in a smaller wireless case. I wouldn’t be moving to Fit Pro if it wasn’t for the fact that AirPods Pro just doesn’t stay in my ears working out. Considering half the time I wear earbuds tends to be working out it was stupid me traveling with multiple pairs, using inferior tech etc. to “make it work.” The Fit Pro is worth it to me for having essentially a real AirPod Pro in a design that actually fits me.

BTW: rumors are AirPods Pro 2 are coming in 2022 and will be a stemless bud design. I’d assume they won’t use wings and will be more like the Studio Buds. Being smaller and lighter will help them not fall out (the Studio Buds did better for me) but they won’t ever be this secure without a wing design. Probably the Fit Pro 2 a year or two after AirPods Pro 2 will get the Pro 2 tech.

That sounds really exciting. Maybe I will just wait. I actually like how the APPs look without the long stupid stem, but if they get rid of the stems entirely that would be great. I couldn't go out in public with the Q-Tips though. They looked ridiculous. I will give the Beats a few days before I decide though, I'm doing a lot more fitness again finally after a very long COVID hiatus.

Any idea what the latency might be on these and other Apple ANC earbuds for that matter? I would buy them to use with my PC's Avantree DG80 transmitter and YouTube TV in a web browser. The DG80 supports aptX and apt Low Latency. Most headphones that don't support those codecs or aptX Adaptive give 200+ msec latency, which is unusable. I don't expect Apple to support aptX, but my Sony WH-1000XM4 over-ear headphones don't support aptX either, and somehow they're delivering sub 100 msec latency, which I can live with.

It's a real challenge finding earbuds that have effective ANC, are sufficiently low latency, and don't suffer from comfort issues, high-pitched hissing, range limitations, poor audio quality, etc. I've tried a half dozen from Bose QuietComfort on through lesser brands, and the best ones I've found are EarFun Air Pro 2. Sadly, they are standard (high) latency and lack the gaming mode of their "Free Pro" brothers, but they're otherwise so good, I'm keeping them for use with my iPhone 13 Pro in the gym. iPhone video apps generally compensate for BT latency so don't pose the problem PC web browsers pose.
tl;dr : They're great in every way except resuming paused audio with my Avantree DG80 transmitter, which is a dealbreaker. If anyone is using their Beats Fit Pro with non-Apple devices and has a problem resuming audio after a few minutes of pausing, please reply. ETA: I replaced the Avantree DG80 with an Asus BT500 Bluetooth adapter, and it solved the "resume paused audio" problem. The latency remains good, but the range is worse with this transmitter. It's worse than other Bluetooth headphones and earbuds I have. Also, all my other devices show battery level in Windows Bluetooth settings, but the Beats Fit Pro does not.

After trying my 2nd gen AirPods with the DG80, finding they provide sub 100 msec latency, and verifying the Beats use the same H1 chip, I went ahead and bought a pair of the Fit Pro to try out. Great success! Latency is 80 msec per this test file played in a web browser on my PC, which does nothing to compensate for latency:

This is on par with my Sony WH-1000XM4 over-ears, and the Fit Pro will provide a nice alternative. To get the best sound and noise cancelling, I had to move up to the large tips. The software said I had a good fit with the mediums, but the large provide a substantial improvement. The midrange no longer sounds biting, and the ANC knocks out my central air much better. I find them very acceptable for music. They fit my ears comfortably and securely, and they go in and out of the case easily.

One thing I notice with the Fit Pro is that I'm hearing mouse and keyboard clicks, which I don't hear with my Sony. That's not a function of the ANC, though. It's just the difference in passive isolation between the Sony over-ears and the buds.

On the downside, while writing this message, I paused the music I was playing, and when I resumed it a few minutes later, I had no sound. The buds were still connected, because the volume control still worked (there's a visual display on the PC), but I couldn't get them to play. I re-paired them with my iPhone and verified it doesn't have this problem. I turned off in-ear detection before forgetting them from my iPhone and re-pairing to the DG80. Maybe that'll help. If not, they'll have to go back.

Well, they're going back. After pausing my music for about 7 minutes, when I resumed there was no audio, but I did hear some very faint electrical noise in the background. A few seconds later, the music resumed, but the connection was cutting out. After restoring normal connection, I tried it a third time, and I got no audio at all, just like the first time.

Dammit, I was really liking these, but they're just not gonna work. This is a unique problem. As I said, I've tried earbuds from Bose, 1More, Razer, EarFun, TronSmart, and one more I can't think of, and none of them did what the Beats are doing. I still have the 1More ColorBuds 2, and they definitely don't do this. Apparently the Beats have some kind of sleep mode, and they don't come out of it successfully with my DG80 transmitter.

left PowerBeats Pro finally died on me a few weeks ago, thinking of getting new earphones. should I:
1. wait and buy the Beats Fit Pro when it releases in my country (which could be in early 2022)
2. get Beats Flex for now and buy the AirPods Pro 2 when they come out next year (could be early or even late 2022)
3. buy current AirPods Pro (they’re on sale at ~USD200) for now and try to resell them to upgrade to AirPods Pro 2 next year

currently i’m using the free wired EarPods like an animal lol. leaning towards option 2 or 3, what do y’all think?

Just picked them up and they’re pretty awesome. The sound is similar enough to the Powerbeats pro that I’m having a hard time telling a difference. The ANC and transparency are great features and I can see using both often. Spatial audio is interesting but I don’t think I have a use for them? I think I’m going to miss the volume rocker on each headphone but the press and hold function seems to be a good compromise.

Anyway, here’s a size comparison of the cases with the beats fit pro, Powerbeats pro and an original AirPod case. I’m not going to have a single problem with the case size on these.

how comfortable are they to use while lying down vs the PowerBeats Pro? I can't really use my PBP in bed as they press uncomfortably into my ear cartilage. my Beats X was great for use as sleep pods, so this is the top feature on my list on deciding to get the Beats Fit or the AirPods Pro lol

I generally don’t wear headphones when I sleep but these would probably be more comfortable then the Powerbeats pro. I don’t think I could wear either because I’m a slide sleeper.

yeah i’m a side sleeper too - beats x were great because it was small enough to not stick out of my ears. would you say the airpods stick out more or the beats fit?

I’ve never liked the way AirPods fit, and I haven’t tried anything besides the first gen (which I ended up giving to my son). I’d say they stick out about the same, however the physical button on the BFPs would be pretty easy to press if I were laying on my side.

Hip-Hop yes, but with EDM becoming more popular these days that music style would benefit from these as well since some variations of the genre (like Dubstep) are very bass heavy.

Also, it's not that Beats were outright "bad", it's just that they were asking for a lot more money compared to the quality being outputted solely because it was the hot brand in town. They nailed the bass, but the overall sound wouldn't pass an Audiophile's test.
Before Apple bought them, lots of hardware had special codecs designed for Beats that really did make them sound incredible. I had an HTC phone and a laptop that had this built in, and it was a very noticeable difference when it didn't. Apple never brought that over to iPhones and Macs.

i've got to believe they will be either discontuining them OR making a verison 2. they are now seriously old for the market, lack 2+ years worth of new features that apple and beats offer the market, and cost way more than other headphones with way more tech. add in the years of complaints about the size of the case and charging issues I just thing big changes are coming. my guess? i think they get discontinued and beats leaves the over the ear hook design for other companies to pursue because they think these new Fit Pro headphones solve the security issue (when you hook the wings in they do NOT come out even in violent workouts and sports) while improving everything else. i know headphones are a personal choice so i'm not discounting the fact you like the old design better but i'm just being honest i think you are in a tiny minority (at least once people try these new generation headphones) and beats will likely think it isn't worth keeping the design even in a version 2.
The way I've read things in reviews, these are the replacement for the behind the ear model, which I love/hate. I'd love it if they kept both and updated them...

PS. They did update them last year, so no, they aren't two years old. The first version were lemons with lots of issues (just got a nice class action law suit check for those!) and they did some minor updates when they fixed the sins of the gen 1.

I assumed that would be the case, thank you for checking! Hopefully they'll roll it out in firmware, but it's also possible they'll leave it as an apple AirPods pro only feature to differentiate. These seem to be AirPods pro killers so far.

I used my Beats X for sleep, too, but they finally died. I just got the Fit Pros and havent tried them for sleep yet, but they don’t stick out very far. I think the button press might be a problem. The other problem (for me) is the battery life isn’t going to last all night like the Beats X did. I may pick up some Beats Flex to use for sleep.

The interesting thing for me is: Why not "one more thing" and announce them at the last two events? Why not wireless charging? What's up with USB-C to USB-C charging cable 4 inches long with no brick.

Tossing in my $.02,

The case, blah. Definitely cheaper in regard to the hinge. Literally just a metal pin and plastic on top and bottom vs the all metal hinge on the air pod pros. It wobbles and twists easily and the lid is very thin. The APP case is solid and very snappy with its magnet closure. Also, the BFP case has a soft touch feel to it that feels like it'll slip out of your hand like a bar of soap, especially with this dry winter air. Overall not a big deal, though.

Sound, very good, just a touch more bass than the APP which they desperately needed.

Transparency, yep, not as good, maybe 60-70% of the clarity that the APP offer. If you rely on transparency, then this may be a no go. And no conversation boost in current firmware, confirmed.

ANC, excellent, possibly a hair better than the APP.

USB-C, don't care, also don't care about the Qi charging being absent.

Fit, very good, went MTB yesterday with them and had zero issues with falling out or even losing their seal.

As far as sleeping with them in, no way, the button for both ears is literally the whole side of the bud and only takes a small pressure to click it. I put half my head's weight down on the pillow and it paused the audio. Maybe if you're sleep on your back and only slightly roll your head to the side.

I know the Beats Fit Pros support Transparency mode, but do they also support the Communication Boost mode like the Air pods Pro?
