I find these super comfortable (my ears unfortunately weren't designed for airpods) and the wires don't pull at all around my neck, however I feel kinda meh about the sound. my $15 sony wired earphones sound just as good. Lots of bass but the highs sound a bit tinny imo. any other first impressions?

Picked up a black pair this morning. Went to the car and opened them up right away. They failed connecting the first time. It said, "Connection Failed"-"Try Again." Tried it again and they connected right away. Stepped out of the car and started playing some music. Played music just fine. As soon as I put my phone in my pocket the music stops playing. Plays immediately when I take it out. Did it several more times and it kept doing the same thing. Even when I just put my phone behind my back it cuts out. Got home and wanted to see the range I can be away from my phone. It cuts out about 12 feet away.

Anyone else having this issue?

Being that sound quality is subjective, I will say I'm enjoying the sound quality. Very clear and just enough bass for my liking. I have small ear holes and use the smallest ear tips and it creates a nice snug fit and drowns out the background noise, which I like. Also, they stay in my ears without having to keep readjusting. The cord could probably be a little shorter, but I don't mind that at all. It's such a snug fit that if the cord hits my collar it doesn't affect the seal. Took them out and covered the ear holes with my fingers with the volume all the way up and could barely hear them. If someone is sitting right next to me they will be able to hear them (barely), but they won't be able to hear what I'm listening to. Shouldn't be too annoying to those around me. When volume is at 50% I could not hear anything. Also wished the case was able to actually close.

These are my first wireless wrap around the neck headphones.

Update:

Alright, I figured out the problem. Well, not the exact problem, but I do know there's nothing wrong with my BeatsX. I'm thinking the problem is my iPhone 6.
I paired my headphones to my iPad and they connected immediately and played. Since I can't put my iPad in my pocket I put it under a pillow and music continued to play. Connected them back to my iPhone and put it under the same pillow and the music stopped. Connected them back to my iPad and walked away. Worked further than 12 feet away. Actually, I walked all over the house, even in different rooms, and they continued to play.

I'm not buying a new phone yet. That's a different story for a different thread.

BeatsX - 1
iPhone 6 - 0

I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality. They do lack a little midrange but bass is solid with the right fit. Surprised that I like them this much. No more headphone cord to dongle on my iPhone 7 plus.

Oakridge store just called me saying they had over promised and I was forced to cancel my in store pickup for today.

Picked these up this morning and I'm so glad I did.

I've been on Sennheiser CX2.00i's up to now and while I liked those, I'd never experienced having wireless earphones. At the same time I've never got on with EarPods (they sort of hurt when I wore them) so the AirPods were out of the question. These are great - I like the in-ear style for noise isolation on the train, and I think they sound fantastic. Better than the Sennheisers at any rate, though at this price you'd kind of expect that.

And yes, it does come with 3 months of Apple Music. Though I gave it to my mum because I prefer Spotify.

I'm still waiting for my pickup email in the Los Angeles area. Luckily, I went the Apple at 9:55AM. Grab one from the shelve.

I personally find the Airpod to be more comfortable. But the sound coming from the BeatsX is purely awesome. I can use the extra bass and sound isolation to get me moving when I workout this weekend.

When you redeem the code, it'll just give you $29.97 credit in your iTunes account which you can use to buy apps or music instead of the 3mos Apple Music.

People seem to like these so the purchase is tempting. I would probably use them everywhere and keep the EarPods as a backup.

I can't justify the purchase of AirPods because I'd be OCD about losing them.

Amazon has the Powerbeats 3 (black) on sale for $150 and I'm wondering if there are any compelling reasons to buy the BeatsX instead. I've just spent a couple of hours reading this thread and specs on both models, and right now my brain is a little numb. I'll use them mostly in gym and commuting (on a noisy train). Are there any significant technology advantages of one versus the other? If you've used both, which do you favor in terms of audio, build quality and comfort?

Thanks.

I have them both right now. Sound quality wise the PB3 is a bit more flat, as in more balanced. The X has deeper bass and brighter highs. Both sound better than the AirPods.

I'm a bit torn right now as to which I like better. The X after having them on for a little bit, I find the cord too long and quite cumbersome. It kept getting caught around the collar of my shirt, yanking the earbud from my ear. I think another member mentioned earlier that he returned them because of this. They are easier to put on than the PB3 since it doesn't have the hook, the flip side is the PB3 gives a much more secure fit.

Bottom line, I like the X sound better, but the fit is better on the PB3. Both isolate outside noise equally well, and output volume are the same which is pretty loud. Either should work great in a noisy train.

Same thing happened with me, ended up not getting the beatsx wireless earphones today caused they screwed up my online order, and didn't have any for me. But I was able to snag some airpods that i will try out tonight! So all is well I guess. Hopefully I like them better!!

To those who have them, how much battery was there when you paired them? I was at 85% and dropped to 71% in about 4 minutes of listening...

Will give them a full charge and see if it's any better!

I'm having a problem figuring out how to get them in that little black case. Do you just cramp them in there or is there a strategic way to roll them up first or what? The problem seems to be in the little more rigid neck band part.

Apple today officially launched its much-anticipated BeatsX Earphones on its online store for $149.95, after initially delaying the earphones from Fall 2016 and into February 2017. With the delay of BeatsX, Apple focused on the December launch of the AirPods, which have subsequently become hard to come by for those interested in Apple's own Bluetooth headphones.

Apple's website states shipping times of 4-5 business days for the White and Black color options, and 8-11 business days for Blue and Gray. Some Amazon orders for BeatsX suggested the earphones might arrive in late January, but those dates were inaccurately estimated for customers.

BeatsX are different from the AirPods in a few small ways, including the fact that the earphones are tethered together by a flex-form cable instead of being completely wireless like AirPods. Thanks to the cable, however, BeatsX include in-line remote control media playback, as well as more ease of mind for those afraid of losing the earphones thanks to the cable's security when resting on the user's neck. Further preventing loss is a magnet in each BeatsX earphone that clicks the earphones together when resting against the user's chest.

The BeatsX Earphones also include a W1 chip for easy pairing with any iOS device, as well as a charging system that supports Lightning cables, continuing to deepen the ease-of-use of the Beats brand in Apple's ecosystem. To provide as secure fit as possible, the earphones ship with four interchangeable eartip sizes, as well as removable secure-fit wingtips for when users plan on being highly active with BeatsX.

The new earphones provide up to eight hours of music playback with a full charge, and users can get a full two hours of battery life on five minutes of charge with its "Fast Fuel" charging feature. "Authentic, clear acoustics" provide high-quality sound playback on BeatsX, with optimized noise isolation to give users an "immersive listening experience."

BeatsX were one of the W1-enabled earphones that Apple announced during its September 7 iPhone event, also including the AirPods, Powerbeats3, and Beats Solo3. The AirPods launched on December 13 and availability remains scarce, while the Beats Solo3 have been out since September, and the Powerbeats3 were available to order in October. Now, those interested can pick up BeatsX on Apple.com for $149.95 in both white and black.

[doublepost=1486778011][/doublepost]Bought a pair today (Black) at Apple Store. Paired easily with iPhone 7 then attempted to register on Beats site. Field to redeem 3 months Apple Music was grayed-out. ONE HOUR on phone with Apple, still not resolved. Site makes you download & run Beats Updater app. Does not work and not needed with BeatsX. Band that goes around back of your neck is kind of annoyin and heavy feeling, I 'd imagine it'll be worse in the summer and the sound is pretty clean, but simply not enough volume for me... I'll live with them a bit longer and decide. All told, it was the most annoying time I've ever had to put on a pair of freaking earbuds. Get it together, Apple!!! - and Beats!! I really wanted them in gray also. Might return them for gray or my $ back.

It seems like a lot of people are buying both airpods and beats x. Airpods for general use. Beats for gym for noise isolation. Apple sure know how to get people to buy multiple products.

The perfect earphones would be airpods with some kind of beats type fit seal for noise isolation or at least the option of. Then you get the best of both worlds.

But then you wouldn't get people buying two products instead of one. Sneaky ;)

I would t have bought the AirPods if they had the beats fit. Hate earphones like that. Apple actually gave people more choice because as far as I know there were NO Bluetooth headphones in the style of the EarPods, even with a cord there were none.

It comes with a Lightning to USB-A charging cable...ya know...so you can buy a dongle to charge them with your new MacBook Pro. Come on Apple...at least include a Lightning to USB-C cable too to keep pushing your 'move' to USB-C/TB3...
The vast majority of chargers (wall/car/battery pack) in the world today are USB-A.

If you have a new 2016 MBP and any recent vintage of iPhone/iPad, you probably already have a USB-C-to-Lightning cable or the $9 USB-C-to-USB-A dongle.

Outside of maybe using the Beats Updater to change the Bluetooth name of your headphones once, what's the advantage to physically connecting your Beats headphones to your MBP vs. any garden variety USB-A charger you may have kicking around?

These posts freaking out about not getting a coupon registered on launch are silly to me. Think maybe the website is being slammed because people think it's a launch day promotion or just OCD? Similar to the hand wringing when Apple releases software updates and people want it NOW. The band feels heavy?Do yourself a favor and return them, go for a walk and breathe.

I bought a pair and I like them.
One thing that bothers me though is that there is no audible feedback when changing tracks, pause, play, etc when using the "Remotetalk" Is it just my pair or is that feedback not built in?
I can live with it, but I will surely miss it.

What happens when you have paired to say an ipad, iphone, and macbook pro at different times then have all three in the same room? My Qc 35's keep connecting to both my phone and MBP at same time.
With the W1 chip, you just select the earbuds/headphones from control center (swipe up on an iOS device) or from the Bluetooth menu (on macOS) and they automatically "let go" from whatever they were paired to previously and instantly pair with the new device.

A virtually frictionless process, compared to really every previous Bluetooth audio device I've ever used, and IMO it's the killer feature of the W1 chip.

It's a shame they're not doing something similar with their Bluetooth speakers, like the Beats Pill+.

Yet, you're defending your flippant comments, which placed you in the spot you're in now. You didn't get very far.

Aside from that, Excellent deflection. Besides taking the time to Google the definition of a word you were ignorant of, you haven't proven anything and doesn't shy away from your snide remarks from your previous post(s). Being facetious only puts you in the problem, It doesn't disclude you from it. You're a product of your own environment. Thanks for the wishes.
Peddling false equivalencies seems to be your thing. Have at it. And while I'm moving on, you can reflect on the irony that your snarky admonitions are beautiful examples of the behavior of which you accuse. The hypocrisy is fantastic.
