I've been holding out for these earphones for a few reasons...

1. The design doesn't look dorky, plus they're magnetic, so when you take them out they just fall and snap with eachother and hang in front of you. Also they include a volume/skip control.
2. They charge via lightning cable, so that's one less cable to keep up with.
3. They're probably gonna sound better than the AirPods (and at a slightly lower price-point).
For those reasons is exactly why I'm getting these!

ill stick with my jaybird freedoms, thank you very much
Just curious, do you have any experience with other Jaybird models? I have been using a pair of BlueBuds X for close to three years and need to replace them.

I can't remember where I saw it, but someone with a W1 headphone set wrote that, ironically, the W1 made this problem *more* annoying. Apparently the W1 is awesome at pairing with the iPhone, but because of this, causes a headache when you try to pair it to anything else. Hopefully this gets sorted out (and it was just one review).

Hmm that may be a bug. It may also be a reason these devices are being delayed. Supposedly once you connect to one device that connection will propagate to every device signed into the same iCloud account.

"AirPods connect automatically with all your Apple devices. They’re simultaneously connected to your iPhone and Apple Watch, and sound switches instantly between the devices. Want to listen to your Mac or iPad? Just choose AirPods on those devices."

In this particular review (again, I wish I could find it), the guy said that it pairs easily with all apple products. But if the iphone is in range, it will keep trying to switch back to the iphone, rather than sticking with what you've told it to (your iPad, or MacBook, or whatever). If you are out of range of the iPhone (say, out on a run with your watch), it works fine, but as soon as you're in range, it will switch back to the iPhone.

As you say, however - this may be why they've delayed the additional W1 units.

Not going to be here in time for the full shopping season. Well Apple, I guess you shouldn't have spent so much time refining the look of the peach emoji, huh?

I have the original Freedoms as well as the Bluebuds X, both still work, but the battery on the Freedoms is good for about an hour. The Bluebuds X last ~ 5 hours after close to 3 years.

The size of the new Freedoms is appealing. Not a fan of the cable/strap on the BeatsX. I'll probably pick up the Freedoms the next time they go on sale.

Thanks!

I was waiting for AirPods and these. But had the opportunity to try the QC30s and was blown away by the size and noise cancelling. Can't go back now.

I'm really eager to buy the AirPods, heck I was complaining today about the tangled EarPod wires!

Here's to hoping to get 'em at least by my birthday in Jan!

I pretty much agree with this. I'm going for these over the AirPods so long as they fit me well.

With the Powerbeats3 and BeatsX both announced to arrive "this fall" - and the Powerbeats3 being in stores for weeks now - I can't help but wonder what's holding these up.

Possibly the lightning charging ability? The BeatsX seem to be differentiated 'enough' from the AirPods that cannibalism isn't the driving concern, and obviously the W1 chip isn't the holdup.

I have a gift card with Best Buy that was being earmarked for the BeatsX but I'm a bit tired of waiting, and there are other Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals I may pursue instead.

Big holiday miss on Apple's part.

Didn't want Apple to buy Beats. Still underwhelmed by decision and products from that acquisition...sound is just ok.

And where is the headphone jack?:p

That's unfortunate considering how much they charge for subpar listening experiences. I wish they would license out the tech so I could use some more trusted headphone manufacturers.
Why doesn't Bose release its tech on ANC? Apple has no obligation to do so.

Really not crazy about the neck band.... read somewhere that it leans towards one side when wearing.

Do you think maybe we'll be able to place preorders both on these and the airpods this black friday?

Some experience from someone who owns 3 pairs of headphones with W1's here. One pair of Solo3's and two PowerBeats3's (one for all-day-at-work use, one for after-work use while the other charge.. though the 12 hours battery life is 100% legit... anyways...)

The W1 chip is a dream and I also have a hard time using any other wireless headphones now. I can switch between my iPhone and MacBook Pro (and to my recently-sold iPad Pro) so easily that I can't imagine doing the whole re-pairing thing ever again now. The Solo3's and the PowerBeats3's both work great, and I've not had the problem mentioned with it wanting to go back to my iPhone arbitrarily without my selecting them from the iPhone explicitly.

Just a little anecdotal experience with the W1 headphones that are out so far.

Oh, and I don't plan to get the BeatsX's. The PowerBeats3's fill that spot for me perfectly. Also probably won't get the AirPods, for comfort (lack thereof) reasons.

I'm currently using 2 bluetooth headphones with a combination of my watch, iPhone, iPad and Mac. I'm always forgetting, repairing to switch between devices. One of the sets (Jaybird Bluebuds X) is starting to crap out on me. I really can't wait to replace these, especially with something based on the W1. That effortless switching between multiple devices is worth it alone.
