BeatsX Release Rumors Point to December Launch Date

They'll be released this Friday.

End of story.

Keep throwing out release dates. You'll eventually get one right. ;)

Some experience from someone who owns 3 pairs of headphones with W1's here. One pair of Solo3's and two PowerBeats3's (one for all-day-at-work use, one for after-work use while the other charge.. though the 12 hours battery life is 100% legit... anyways...)

The W1 chip is a dream and I also have a hard time using any other wireless headphones now. I can switch between my iPhone and MacBook Pro (and to my recently-sold iPad Pro) so easily that I can't imagine doing the whole re-pairing thing ever again now. The Solo3's and the PowerBeats3's both work great, and I've not had the problem mentioned with it wanting to go back to my iPhone arbitrarily without my selecting them from the iPhone explicitly.

Just a little anecdotal experience with the W1 headphones that are out so far.

Oh, and I don't plan to get the BeatsX's. The PowerBeats3's fill that spot for me perfectly. Also probably won't get the AirPods, for comfort (lack thereof) reasons.

I'm glad the Powerbeats3 work for you. I find them incredibly uncomfortable. I would have been willing to give the Beats X a go, but they cannot seem to put them in stores, so oh well.

I do like the pairing with the W1 chip, but I have never had an issue pairing Bose, so I'm going to go buy some today and forget this mess. I'll probably try the AirPods when they finally appear, just for the novelty of it.

Maybe the AirPods delay was to ensure the BeatsX gets a fair chance to sell

It makes me wonder if the beta testers actually found an issue with the Airpods and reported back to Apple on their findings, which was confirmed by the engineers possibly. Just a thought.

Wanted these since they were announced. Only reason I can think of for the delay is so everyone won't buy these over the AirPods.

But the AirPods were also delayed so how does that work out?

Regardless, fairly sure the AirPods will outsell them without much hassle. I for one am waiting for them (AirPods).

Why isn't the AirPods coming with those little rubber things to help keep them in your ears????
Because some people (including me) HATE those little rubber ones that shove right down your ear. All I can hear is my feet slamming on the floor - terrible for active people IMO. Also all reports are that the AirPods don't fall out

Until these are water proof and not sweat resistant I wont be buying. I have sent 3 pairs of Powerbeats back after my sweat from 3-5 hour runs gets inside and ruins them. Sweat proof, not even close.

That's just too late for the Christmas season. Order one week before Christmas and probably have 1-2 week shipping date and then have to be at home (versus traveling) to receive them? Total mess. Total miss.

Well, to be fair, the date for Christmas surprised everyone this year. December 25th? Who could possibly have guessed that date?

IMO, I got Powerbeats 3 and I don't see why you would want these (other than price)

The BeatsX looks like a whole new product. Looks like an actual Apple and BeatX collaboration. A lot of problem people had with the X2's was fit and sound leak, and it doesn't look like they've improved that based on the reviews I've seen. I have my Jaybird X3's coming in and going to leave them in the box until I see some BeatsX reviews.

I meant that the beatsx are possibly delayed because they don't want to release them ahead of the AirPods (even tho the beatsx might be ready)

Riding a bike. Riding a motorcycle (although, I suppose you should have a helmet on). Jogging/running on a trail with tall grass/rocks. Getting jostled on a busy subway/metro/train/bus with no room to bend over and search the ground.

(Off the top of my head...)

Yes, a crowd could trample anything that falls, and anything could fall out during a motorcycle ride, but in each of those other scenarios you have a bright white object that is going to fall to the ground by your feet. Pretty remote possibility that you would not be able to look down and easily see it. It's just not something that 99% of the time you are going to have to worry about losing, other than misplacing it. And, for the person who will be using it and doesn't want to take that remote chance, there are already aftermarket attachments that connect the two.

I imagine eventually we will see some kind of third party safety cords hitting the market for AirPods. On long distance flights I usually sleep with my earbuds on and when I wake up, they are either in my ear or not too far away. However, just imagine losing one of those Airpods in an airplane seat. I swear some of those seats are designed as miniature black holes; whatever you drop in there disappears forever.

In this particular review (again, I wish I could find it), the guy said that it pairs easily with all apple products. But if the iphone is in range, it will keep trying to switch back to the iphone, rather than sticking with what you've told it to (your iPad, or MacBook, or whatever). If you are out of range of the iPhone (say, out on a run with your watch), it works fine, but as soon as you're in range, it will switch back to the iPhone.

As you say, however - this may be why they've delayed the additional W1 units.

It would be unfortunate if the W1 doesn't come through on the promise of fast connection switching. Hopefully Apple nails it
"form factor"? What's that in plain English?

"Form factor is an aspect of hardware design which defines and prescribes the size, shape, and other physical specifications of components, particularly in consumer electronics and electronic packaging."

Doesn't the Solo 3 have the W1 chip? Wouldn't we know how it performs already?

I'm picking my QC30s up today. I love the QC20i model and need the wireless now.

I love the QC20i as well, and use them daily during my subway commute, but the solid neck band of the QC30 is a non-starter for me. Completely ruins the portability and pocketability of the headphones.
