I dont get you menace. I never offered my opinion or even talked about yours.

All I stated was "airpods are not in ear headphones" and you got very very angry and upset over that. I provided proof and you kept jarring saying I was calling you stupid.

I own both. Both are cool. End of story. Whoop de doo. But AirPods arent in ear headphones. And if you google imaged in ear headphones, EarPods dont come up. Ill screenshot all 600+ pages if you want further proof of that too.

I never discounted your opinion, I'm just quoting you... you said they are noise cancelling, they are not. Fact. They are not even noise isolating. Fact.

If you were in an Apple Store, put in the AirPods (gross by the way), and didn't hear the people talking around you, you need to see an audiologist. Apple makes no claims of any noise isolation, and even the die-hard fans that's their one issue is they completely pass the outside noise through. Some see it as a benefit for riding a bike, etc, but that's to each his own.

Why do I own both? Had you read my pros and cons, you'd see that the airpods make a fantastic bluetooth phone headset. I only use them for talking on the phone. Spending $150 and $160 for two sets of headphones so I can have the right headset for the right purpose is perfectly reasonable to me. I know, others have to justify their purchases to themselves which is why there are so many people here asking for reassurance about their headphone, laptop, iPhone purchases. It's a flaw in human nature, always looking to justify ones' decisions through the reassurance of others.

Seriously, I am not lying nor defending it, I did not hear people around me. It surprised me as well. Maybe when I used them more, I'll notice different. I don't know the lingo of is that isolating or cancelling, but I didn't hear anything but my music.

And awesome, the reason why you own both is exactly what I was looking for. I mentioned the old Powerbeats because I have them for running and use my over the ear ones for everything else. Maybe I'll be like you and own both. I have my reasons for not liking Beats X. I might even hate AirPods once I use them full time.

Just let it go, he doesn't get it... at least he admits "I don't know the lingo of is that isolating or cancelling, but I didn't hear anything but my music" so for him to not know the difference between the three (car vs truck vs rocket ship) just shows you're not going to get anywhere with him. If he doesn't hear noise around him when he's in an Apple Store wearing AirPods, there's something more going on with him than simple not understanding technology.

I'm not angry nor get upset at you. I googled just as you said and they show up in the picture. Here...even attached it here for you to see.

Great..both are cool. Awesome. Some of us like them and some do not. Regardless, my opinion of Beats X being the only ones that I heard rustling with is still valid for me man. I've had other "in-ear" and this was the first that I've experienced.

And see..that right there. You could have just let it go..but you have to continue with showing stupidity.

So apparently something has to be wrong with me when I did not hear anything else around me when I put on the Airpods?

I guess since I do not like Beats X and on your cheer squad, then I'm wrong huh? Whatever.

Here dude. Heres a credible source....cnet. They can hopefully help you see the difference between EarPods and in ear headphones. They are different. Im so sorry but they are.

Earbuds rest on the outer concha ridge of the ear, located in the center of your outer ear. In-ear or ear-canal headphones are placed inside the ear canal, sealing the listener off from environmental noise.

Therefore, my original point stands. No matter what in ear headphones you buy, whether they are 5$ from china or 600 million dollars plated in gold, you. will. hear. rustling. Because they are INSIDE the ear canal, which blocks out all noise. therefore....rustling.

Sweet! Awesome. Appreciate the article and will educate myself even more. Quick question - are there comparisons for latest versions floating around? The ones pictured are not the ones I have. Those were from a few years ago and were utter crap. That's why I went Beats in the first place.

Well generally an Apple Store is about 90-100 db inside with talking\music\ambient noise. The AirPods knock out 10-30db just based on being between you and the noise around you. This means you'd still be getting about 60-80db of noise from the store. This is equivalent to an alarm clock, toilet flush, garbage disposal, or doorbell of noise being passed through from the outside into your ear.

Is there something wrong with you if you don't hear noise coming through at 60-90 db? I would say yes. If I didn't hear what was going on around me in an Apple Store while wearing AirPods, my first stop after the store would be to my Audiologist for a hearing exam. Not trying to be mean just trying to keep it factual.

Actually, Idk.

Both are good though. I like AirPods for using the phone which I am on the phone a lot for work.

BeatsX are good for music but drawback is rustling which I put up with. Cant go wrong with either.

Cool science. Maybe I will again. I got tested about 1.5 years ago and it was normal. I had terrible eyesight, but hearing and smell heightened big time. LOL. Will definitely try it on again when they arrive tonight. Like I said, I was totally surprised because it was the opposite of what I had been hearing. I do know that the pinna part of my ear is smaller so maybe those AirPods fit just right.

I wonder if the mic is just super sensitive. Or a way to manuever it differently.

I suppose if I played something that was recorded hot to begin with and crank the volume I would hear very little outside noise around me with the airpods. That would be the only way.

Calm down guys. They’re just earphones. People will use what they prefer. Some may prefer beatsx because they have a ton of bass and are a fashion statement. Some will prefer the fully wireless airpods because they’re so convenient.

It is software for windows and Mac OS. Thanks to it you can update firmware of your beats x. https://www.beatsbydre.com/support/how-to/firmware-updates-beats-updater
I tried it on my MacBook and works - allows me to change the name. No current updates are available.
The software seems to be an application that loads at startup and requires going to their website to launch. I had some issues at first with beats website having technical difficulties - even when trying to register my beats and redeeming the 3 months apple music.. Refreshing eventually makes it all work.

I do notice that my Beats Solo 3 don't use the updater and according to their website it is supported directly under IOS as far as updates etc. Not sure how to rename those.

Thank you for your answer. I have tried on three different windows computers without success

Make sure your a beats headphones ar ON when you plug then into your computer. I had the same problem you did until I switched them on, lol.
Yes earphones were on. Are you windows or Mac OS user?

Got mine today, these blow my Jaybird X2's out of the water...only minor thing is for some reason the battery dosn't show up in my status bar. Thought i remembered seeing someone post this before and had a fix.

On the battery indicator, I think Apple, with the new W1 chip, is moving away from showing battery status in the status bar and instead showing it in Control Center or the Today view. Easy enough to swipe and see it in one of those views IMHO. Headphones without the W1 chip still show battery status in the status bar.

MacOS. One thing, I believe the Beats may turn off when you plug them in to your computer. You should confirm that they are on after you plug them into your computer.

But how can i confirm that they are on?

Sorry, I was mistaken. I just plug mine into the computer via a USB Lightning cable, click on the beats logo icon in my menu bar, and the Beats website opens with the firmware updater. Right now, it's telling me the firmware is up to date. I didn't have to do anything other than plug it in.

Version of beats updater for windows was made in 2015, maybe it is the problem. Thank you for your help.

Sitting in an airport lounge right now. AirPods can go jump off a cliff as far as I'm concerned. Volume on high, and can't drown out the din of the ghetto trash all around me. I'm never using these for anything other than as a bluetooth phone headset to talk. Garbage product. Would use my Beats X but don't want to kill the battery since I'm jumping on a 11 hour flight. Boo.

I don't get how the trash fanboys use AirPods\EarPods and accept the fact that you hear everything going on around you right with your music. It's so gross. I can buy $2.99 headphones on eBay if I want garbage sound with these issues.

AirPods suck, they are no better for noise isolation than the standard EarPods that come with the phone.
