"Wireless" refers to the term of not having a wire to your device, I'm not sure how much clearer I can make it for you. I think your analysis about where the direction is going is absolutely wrong, and refuted by what's on the market and in the pipelines. Go to Amazon (or your favorite sales site) and google "wireless earphones" (which I think you really mean earbuds) and you'll see your sentiment is not accurate.

We're witnessing the embryonic stage of truly wireless earphones, of course Amazon isn't awash with them yet. Why was there such a furore over Bragi's kickstarter? Why have Samsung released the IconX and Apple the Airpods? Almost all would agree it's a step forward. You can call them wireless all you want but the fact is there's an annoying wire around your neck at all times. Like I say, I had a pair and went back to the 3.5mm jack. This cannot be the endgame:

Now I'm not saying the AirPods look good either, but the Samsung's do. W1 is useful I will say that. I use mine across multiple devices so that would come in handy.

Guess we will agree to disagree.

My only point was that the direction that earphones (not headphones) are going in is towards the 'truly wireless', as Bragi would say. Some may like these because they can hang them around their neck when they're not using them. For me the wire on these not-actually-wireless bluetooth earphones annoys me when it rubs on my hair or clothes as I turn my head. That's not the case with wireless headphones. That constant friction would drive me bananas over time (I know because I owned a Sony pair). It may not make a difference to you but it frustrates me.

if you want to get that technical, there are wires in Airpods too. Does that make them wireless? One can argue.

i think that's why there's two distinctions. 'Wireless' (beatsx and many more) and 'truly wireless' (airpods).

It does make me wonder what quality control issues they are having to warrant such a delay.
My guess is very poor battery life.

or it could be they want the air pods to have enough of a head start

But there already powerbeats 3 and solo 3 which have the W1 chip and Apple have not being worried about cannibalising their own product revenues in the past. I'm suspicious that these earphones/earbubs were given specs before a review prototype was available.

everyone stay sharp. Not sure why macrumors didn't report on this but here's another article that says release "imminent"

"A flurry of product stock activity was spotted on Tuesday, iStockNow said, including even a brief false positive in Europe. Apple is allegedly "all ready" at its storefronts and some more activity was spotted at the U.S. branch of Best Buy

We don't have much experience on this tbh, really can't say. AirPods launched on a Tuesday morning if I remember well. We're surprised how our little article has made such a buzz.
We found out some Target stores would already have some in stock (not saleable), real or a bug in the Target matrix ? I'd take that at another sign it's very close.

Will your site notify instantly ?

It does (we use a very premium email delivery service), we just turbo charged the BeatsX tracking.
We really do our best, but never can be 100% sure everything will be fine for a launch. Don't see any reason to fail though.

well they're not at the same price point pb 3 is @ $199. so there's that..

Wish they'd be available already. In September I was excited for October\November, then February, and now that February is here, I wonder if there's truth to the February release. We should see some movement by now right? I suppose maybe not considering AirPods had no real movement until Apple announced their availability 3 days before they became available in stores. I wonder if they'll announce Beats X, or if they'll just start showing up. Hopefully the supplies aren't as tight as the AirPods... I'd imagine since they're similar to other products already on the market the demand won't be as great. Before AirPods launched, there were dozens of threads, and this seems to be the only one here, so guessing demand won't be lines out the door like Air Pods, haha

Too late, tired of waiting so I bought the Bose Soundsport Wireless the other day. I don't think I will be sorry not waiting any longer.

Another Apple fail with availability just like the Airpods.
