Very, trying to not freak out. Thankfully not dumb and did not send anything private. But WTF.

Account created today with a “doom” post, checks out.

In all seriousness, if this actually happened it’s terrible and unacceptable. I disabled Beeper and unlinked my info for the time being as I need to use my iPhone today anyway. Will keep watching out for issues like this when using my Pixel.

Indeed.

I'm speaking with the cofounder of Beeper, Eric Migicovsky to get this figured out.

Thank you Eric for taking this seriously!

FYI once your Beeper account is linked to your SMS even if you send via SMS the iPhone still responds via Beeper.

My Google message / RCS is also disconnected from Beeper, I have nothing going through it at the moment. Keep us posted if you receive any reply.

That's the point, RCS doesn't have or need a login.

Who is the market? Every single phone user in existence, even users like my parents who have flip phones (dumb phones) that could support RCS.
RCS is an implementation of a communications standard that "Upgrades" SMS/MMS. SMS and MMS still require user names in the form of the phone number sending the message.

You have to have a user to do anything on the Internet, that is the core design.

Phone numbers don't require downloading and logging into new accounts. I can have a new phone number and new phone in 10 mins without downloading anything, and no name on the account.

AGAIN.....buy an iPhone if you want iMessage. You don't buy an Xbox and then get pissed when all the Mario games are Switch exclusives.
Android users don't care about iMessage, they care about being able to communicate using modern technology with iOS devices. It is currently difficult to do this because of Apple. Despite having so many options, apple users prefer using the stock messages app because it's too difficult to download another app to communicate.

Guarantee you when RCS gets adopted (assuming apple does not do the bare minimum in terms of features), android users will no longer care about iMessage. Apple users might still care about the blue bubbles due to wanting to feel better about themselves for the phone that they purchase, but not android.

Look at Europe, do android users care about or want iMessage? No, because everyone uses WhatsApp. The only reason people in US care about iMessage is because apple makes the alternative suck horribly (SMS), so of course iMessage will be superior. There is no viable alternative like WhatsApp in America because apple users don't want to download it, so thus it's the choice between SMS and iMessage, and there is a clear winner.

I wish this comment could be "stickied" to all of these types of threads. This is what people here have been trying to say but it just falls on deaf ears.

Check your contacts. This issue: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...in.2412881/page-9?post=32776719#post-32776719

Happens if the iPhone contact has 2nd phone number on any other device for a contact. It's a problem with iMessage - bad Apple design.

Before you starting using beeper with contacts, make sure they do not have an old number for you. You have no way on the beeper side to know if your contact starts accidentally replying to a wrong number.

Why? Stereotypes are dumb. Different Android users have different reasons and different iPhone users have different reasons.

In this specific thread I've not seen one Android user state he / she cares about the color of text messages. This is the comment that keeps getting thrown around, by iOS users, in response to most people's supportive comments about the Beeper app. Aside from security concerns, which is #2.

Yep. The comment about caring about the color is dumb too.

Blocked, as expected.
