Android has really matured and is a pleasure to use in many ways. But the third party app ecosystem and culture is just so poor compared to iOS.

Android’s advantage with less stringent app guidelines aside, the best of breed apps on iOS utterly crush what passes for best in Google Play. Apple arguably put years into building a passionate and talented developer community and it shows (even if they seem to take them for granted quite frequently).

I love Apple and my iPhone, but the App store is absolute dumpster fire of garbage and scam apps, to the point that it's even hard to find what you're looking for even if you are specifically searching for it, because of all the posers.

It's bad enough that I haven't purchased or downloaded a new app in almost two years; only automatic updates.

That you claim to have googled Google's messaging app and came out of that search with Hangouts is never not going to be hilarious to me. My point-by-point discussion service is sadly a one-time-only reply, but I just wanted to chime in here and commend you for a level of messaging-app and platform evangelism that would make the Council of Clermont say "whoa now, maybe tone it down a touch." That is, honestly, remarkable!

I wonder if Beeper even suspected their little messaging app would stir such feelings in people who can't even download the thing?
So, Google just has Messages?

That's it, right?

That's what you're saying.....

Google has a Text Messaging App....that's it.....

RCS works automatically, providing enhanced messaging without needing to sign up for anything or be configured by anybody. But again, your reply doesn't make ANY SENSE in the context of this article about Beeper.
You do understand that everything has a login today?

I can login to Facebook right now and Message my customers and then switch accounts and message my friends and family.

And I don't need RCS because I have Messenger.....

And if I don't use that, I have WhatsApp.....

So, again, what does RCS do other than flood the market with another competitor we don't need?

And how many users does RCS expect to enroll? How can you track it if there are no UIDs? Yes, each device will have a distinct UID, so they can track you....

And again.....there are 15 other ways to message people that don't require RCS....

SO.....what is the market? What is the scope? And what are the growth possibilities? Who funds it? Or is it yet another mooch relying on subsidies from carriers, MVNOs, and ISPs?

That's the point, RCS doesn't have or need a login.

Who is the market? Every single phone user in existence, even users like my parents who have flip phones (dumb phones) that could support RCS.

Messenger is not a text messaging app.

Is also used by millions of business around the planet to connect with and communicate with their customers. I use it everyday to interact with usually 10-15 customers a day.

It is not text messaging. I video called, sent a video, uploaded some pictures to a group of friends, had a voice call, sent GIFs, even sent someone money to prove a point that Messenger does everything RCS does AND MORE....

and RCS has not even been fully implemented yet.....

which is my question: "Messenger has existed for over a decade, WHY DO WE NEED RCS NOW?"

This thread is about Beeper, not RCS.

On Android I can set my chat “bubbles” to any color combination I want.
Theming. An option not allowed in the Apple World.

Fun fact:

I can touch my nose with my tongue. I can also wiggle my ears.

Literally the two most pointless things I can think of I can do and yet so many people can’t.

Guess what? It’s doesn’t matter. It’s trivial lol.

Just like changing a text message theme. I used to use handcent and gosms and I believe I used Microsoft launcher and whatever windows Phone theme when I used android. Heck I even made my phones look iOS.

Now I realize just how trivial and dumb that was lmao. I’ve seen the fonts and I he colors people
Use on their android phones and it looks absolutely disgusting lmao.
Weird definition of “force” ya got there.
I am forced in the sense because obviously every time she calls me to answer a question about why her pixel is doing this I now have to stop what I’m doing to google said problem to fix it.

It’s highly annoying.

AGAIN......Between RCS and Beeper, which one proves iMessage is far superior to anything Android offers currently?

Both are an attempt to open iMessage to Android users because they're insecure about being a green bubble. Google is a $2 trillion dollar company, and they can't afford to make their own APP???

They have to histrionically passive aggressive conniption pleading to the government and consumers that Apple is a big bad monopoly stopping the weak Android from thriving in the market?

Are you all insane? If Apple is a monopoly, GOOGLE IS A MONOPOLY!!!!

Google stole Apple's idea, and is now bitching that they're losing the fight!

And Beeper is PROOF POSITIVE that Android users are so desperate for an iPhone, they'll take any chance to access iMessage.

NO ONE CARES what Google did or did not steal. I don't care whoc ame first, what's on second and who is on third.

I want a messaging standard, that works on all devices, everywhere, without creating any accounts with anyone for any reason.

One of the perks of this app is, I can finally receive HD pictures and videos from iPhone users. Whew. Lol.

Upcoming features that's coming very soon:

Import past chat history
Full text search
Block list
Chat history backup and export
Android OS chat bubbles
Foldable/tablet UI
Facetime audio and video calls
Scheduled messages

Add support for SMS, WhatsApp and Signal into Beeper Mini, using the same end-to-end encrypted client-side connection architecture. No cloud servers in the middle.

And we have one. It’s called sms. That’s on you for choosing to use android lol.

Literally until a month ago this never was a thought or issue to me and I had no idea so many android users were this desperate lol.

I look forward to this being shut down like every other android iMessage knock off lol.

Though I hope maybe apple will at least bring it to windows. Android I can understand why but apple doesn’t have any considerable lead over desktop.

I can hear the android fans now having a heart attack if windows got it before they do on android.

This is why android has its reputation. Because everything about it is a knock off. Beeper is a prime example lol

I don't any Android devices, and never have.

I think SMS should be shut down, at the cell-provider level, and replaced with RCS.

Awe. Don't be upset that us Android users can now text blue bubbles and HQ videos to iPhone users. Just wait until they add FaceTime video soon. You'll really be upset.

Why fix what isn’t broken. I haven’t had any issues with sms in 20 years and I now have iMessage and other apps

It is broken, hence the back and forth about tiny videos and images. It's also not encrypted (nor is RCS, currently), but Apple has already said they are working on that and it will be.

and that is why apple users have imessage, so the issue isn't an issue for Apple users.

LMAO i mean i am not the one upset enough to pay $2 a month just so i can say i can imessage :D Why? Because i brought a device that can actually do that. But i waste money on silly stuff as well so can't judge.

This app will be likely shutdown (like the snapchat clones for example) and you guys will be back to square one. What will really crack me up is if some kind of hack and data breach happens and people get screwed.

All to have blue bubble texts lmao. Sad but funny

Facetime already is possible for android albeit messy.

It is replies like this that wish we had an “eye-roll” option.

1. RCS should be the replacement for SMS/MMS. Apple adopting RCS puts us one step closer since RCS is the new adopted standard and Apple is the single hold-out.
2. iMessage could have been a standard but Apple decided to use it to encourage folks to stay on iOS.

Beeper for those folks who want iMessage interaction is a pretty neat item. Be nice if Apple doesn’t roadblock it.

The battle resulted in AOL using a security bug in its own AIM software to prevent Microsoft from accessing its AIM service, a move that forced Auerbach and his coworkers to give up on any dreams of interoperability between AIM and MSN Messenger, but not before an unknown Microsoft employee posed as software consultant to try and get security experts to detail the AOL flaw

Point being is...I too can do something random that most people can't and likely don't care.
Most android users dont go through the trouble of changing a color so you saying you could do that is highly irrelevant.

I am looking forward to Apple roadblocking it just to see the outcries lmao. About apple NOT bringing a feature it created for its products to Android as if they should be obligated lmao.

I don't expect Playstation to bring its platform exclusive experience to Xbox.

It really does lol.
As we have seen with the imessage knock offs, this has yet to work yet

Aside from the last part of the post, a lot of those points aren't invalid. iPhone OS came to existence first. Apple SOC came to existence first. Many many of Google's products (other than Search, Gmail and a few others) are generally following the foot steps of others and mostly Apple.
Nah most things are invalid.
Even what you said about many of Google's products "follow Apple's foot steps" isn't true.

Innovation, Apple doesn't need to use RCS standard for iMessages, problem solved, EU can rest now.
