I like how the dudes rush out trying to block the view and they show like 10 replays of it.

For goodness sake, their doing it again. I'm watching *girls* gymnastics all around, Nastia did a perfect vault. Terrible score. Judges deducted the heck out of her. Both commentators, Bob Costis, Nastia's Father, and Bella Coroli (spelling?) knew the vault was great. What are the judges thinking? The Chinese child that fell down! got almost as hight a score as Nastia. Why? Because she tried a harder vault. Doesn't matter that she fell on her bum, she almost got as good a score as a perfect vault.

I really think the judging needs to be investigated. At least Nastia got a good score.

that's why i hate sports with subjective judging procedures. at least natasia won.

and btw, it is girls gymnastics, women hardly compete since they are forced to retire at 20-ish. i was never gymnast material myself, way too tall and not flexible enough.

Im glad Nastia won Gold. She really did deserve it. I have been upset with the gymnastics judging, it really has been ridiculous. I was a little relieved when the president judger kept challenging the scores, but I still think it should have happened sooner.

6 now for Phelps and yet again a new worlds record. After the antics on Spitz over the last few days I really hope Phelps get the 8 and wipes Spitz off the record books.

As for teamGB... Good start for Kelly Sotherton in the heptathlon a PB in the 100m hurdles. With a bit of luck I'll finish work early today and get to see a good few hours of the athletics.

Interesting. You think the president (Red jacket) woman was getting fed up with the low scores too? heh. That would be funny.

But yeah, the scores definitely got back on track for the last exercise.

Cycling: GB sprint team take gold

Excellent!
Great Britain's men's team sprint trio defeated France to win GB's third gold of the Games in the first track cycling final in Beijing.

Jamie Staff, Jason Kenny and Chris Hoy had three superb rides, with a winning time of 43.128 seconds in the final.

The track cycling gold should be the first of many we get this weekend - fingers crossed...

Ben Ainslie will get at least a silver and the yngling girls at least a bronze.

thank God that it did. it was becoming rather obvious that there was more than healthy dose of favoritism thrown in China's way  in both men's and women's (or girls in China's case) competition :D

Tennis: Rafael Nadal will play Fernando Gonzalez in the final

The Spaniard beat Novak Djokovic 6-4 1-6 6-4 to secure a final against 2004 bronze medallist Gonzalez, who beat James Blake in an epic encounter.

Nadal/Djokovic — Great match
Gonzalez/Blake — Controversial but Gonzalez was the better player.

And that's why I don't consider any sport with judging as an actual "sport". Call them sporting events, sporting activities, games, etc. Just don't call them a sport. If the goal is to impress a judge, it's not a sport. It doesn't even have a clearly defined goal.

Did anybody else watch Usain Bolt do the fastest 100m stroll ever. Incredible!

I've set my alarm for 3 a.m. to hopefully watch Rebecca Adlington win her second gold medal in the pool. I hope she appreciates my dedication to the cause! :D

Bolt was amazing, talk about taking it easy. If he can do a 9.92 running like that, I can't wait to see the final and see him smash the worlds record.

yeah...

but then Phelps has willingly submitted himself to every single test that the IOC required and even the ones they didn't (something to do with DNA i think?). so far, nobody has questioned the legality of his tests results because i'm sure he has enough Australian/French testers seething to rip apart his blood samples.

no one questions Shawn or Nastiya because they have documents dated back more than 10 years which indicate how old they are. the Chinese? aside from yanking the pics of "erroneous" documents of the ShinHwa state news agency, what do they have? just some new shiny passports with the official state approved age of 16. surely for kids that were enrolled in a state ran/regulated gymnastic school, their every movement controlled by the state, only gets to see their parents once a year because of the state...i sincerely doubt that the those birthdays were found in error. it's far more likely that China simply didn't have enough talent in the 16+ pool. big hairy deal. the IFG should have told them to get over it. U.S. didn't have much talent in the 16+ pool either, aside from Johnson and Liukin who else did we have on the girls side? counting out the two Hamm brothers who did we have one the men's side?

considering all that, not once has any of the U.S. women gymnasts complained that they Chinese girls should have their medals stripped. if nothing else, every news source i've came across have indicated that they believe the Chinese are pretty awesome regardless of their age.

sore losers? i think not.

LOL! The speculation is getting ridiculous. While anything is possible, the continual griping from Americans smacks of being sore losers. Phelps sets multiple WRs on the way to a record haul of medals, yet no one questions if he is on any dope. And that is the way it should be -- innocent until proven guilty. If you haven't noticed, Asians sometimes do look younger than on average. If you want a truly suspicious case that raised even my eyebrows, look at Liu Zige. She won gold for China today on a time 10 seconds (!!!!) faster than her previous fastest time -- set only this year.

Now THAT would be something to talk about.

But what about umpires in baseball or referees in soccer, are those not judgement calls? I don't think judging is bad I just think it should be consistent. That is the issue. What those gymnasts do is definitely a sport. I dare any other athlete to try that.
