Bolt. Semis. WOW!

I think he stopped paying attention during the last 10 metres and still ran 9.85 s.

I'm sure he knows how fast he ran. He just wants to save his record breaking performance for the gold.

And Chris Hoy makes it seven golds, with a bonus silver courtesy of Ross Edgar :)

We rule in the velodrome this year!

And we've not finished yet...

Shame for Kelly Sotherton. Still 5th in the Olympic final is not to shabby, 3 PBs and only 30 points off her heptathlon PB. Can't say she didn't try.

Now to sit back and watch the mens 100m record get smashed by Bolt.

Hell, he started celebrating with 20 m to go, I think. With 5 m to go, he started pounding his chest.

We'll see how fast he runs at the relay. Hopefully he'll have to actually race his entire 100 m......the lazy git.

I woke up at 3 a.m. to watch Rebecca Adlington win her gold medal and then stuck with it through the rowing, cycling and sprints. It's 6 p.m. now and I feel and look like a zombie ( ;) ), but it was worth it to see Usain Bolt claim the title of the worlds fastest stroller! Phenomanal performance! Imagine how fast he could run if he had to sprint for more than 80 metres!?

Any chance that Bolt could break 9.5 seconds if he actually tried the whole way?

I've never seen someone make the 100m so effortless.

All these freakishly tall people suddenly becoming amazing athletes. It's a Huxley-style Alpha plot to make the rest of us feel inadequate I tell you ;)

It's not "messed up". It's business. If you were a GM marketing exec or Gatorade, etc. would you pay more to have your ad on prime TV if it's gonna be shown online beforehand? If you had NBC stock, would you want the network to skip out on this opportunity to make a few extra bucks? The world ain't a charity, man. If you want to watch it, stay up all night and buy cable TV where you can get more channels and increase your chance of watching your favorite events. Otherwise, you can always watch 50m shooting or something that was always Live online. :p
NBC is delaying most of the coverage by 12 hours and then replaying it overnight when they could show live stuff overnight and then replay it during the day. It seems that they are doing it backwards. I would bet that more people would stay up to watch it live at 2 am than to get the results later in the day and not bother watching the delay. If NBC is the "olympic network" they should show everything live across all time zones. They have 5 networks showing coverage and most of it is taped 12 hours in advance.

That is probably true, but they have the intervening time to "package" the events.

See Google "commercialism" for further details.
I don't want to see a package, NBC has been promoting the fact that they have 7 channels showing coverage. That is more than enough to be able to cover multiple live events at once. What gets me is the fact that they show a prime time block, then they replay that block overnight when the actual events are happening. Why replay taped footage twice when they have a block of time that can be used to show live coverage. If NBC was smart they would preempt all programing and show live coverage from 8 pm to 8 am and then replay it during the day.

No way. Most people have to work and can't take that kind of stress!
The ones that can, are able to watch "some" of the events in live Beijing time online...and maybe other channels if you have them. For the events that they reserve for "prime TV", they do list the results in the "Official" [scores] links. It's up to you whether you want to look at it. :p

But yeah, I know what you mean about some of the delays, I saw the races were on TV as if it was "live" during Beijing's midnight. rofl.

They can still replay the main events in prime time, but why not show it live for those that can or want to see them.

Note sure. Maybe the medal results would extend too late into the night and hence they figure they would show packages during the next prime time slot?

I know some of the gymnastics were live on TV at night, but maybe those were short events where the medals are awarded early so they can get to it before it gets too late?

Holy Crap! It looks like NBC is going to show every minute of this Marathon! Geez, can't they switch to something else and come back to it occasionally? This is boring me to tears.

I like how many of the biggest events have been at around 11 AM or 12 PM, because I can watch the Olympics at lunch, as can many other people who may be working. If NBC is going to delay things, they should delay it so that night events in China are showed at lunch times (12-2 PM) rather than morning, and morning events in China are showed at night, or "live", as some of you might say.

There are no other events currently taking place. They did cut away for a while to show the semi-finals of the 100m from last night.

Yeah, but it seems like an odd time to decide to show only live events.
