    Hi,

I know both of the above wireless charging pads provide the same power output (7.5w), however which one is the best to go for?

    The pros and cons I can see for both;

The Belkin pad has a larger surface to support the phone, however takes up more space on a desk. The Mophie is slightly smaller.

The Mophie is considerably thinner than the Belkin.

There is a top LED on the Belkin for easier status indication instead of a lower placed led on the Mophie which could be difficult to see during daytime.

3 Year warranty on the Belkin vs a 2 Year on the Mophie.

    Which is the better option???

    Get the Mophie.

I bought the Belkin and now I wish I got the Mophie. The Mophie is smaller and more discreet, and it doesn't really need a "larger surface to support the phone", the Mophie surface is fine. Plus it's black, and I have the Space Gray, so it doesn't match with the white Belkin, which looks like a spaceship. The extra white border is wasted space - the target area with the rubber ring is still where you have to place it. The target area itself is NOT any bigger with the Belkin.

The Belkin works fine and it's classy looking, but it is too big to me. The green LED is good enough, and you don't really need it anyway as the iPhone will indicate charging when you place it correctly.

Both of them look like a group of first graders designed them from an aesthetic perspective. They’re just unequivocally hideous. I will wait for Apple’s since it is the only one that looks good.

This might not be popular.. but what is the benefit of sitting my phone on something versus just plugging it in.. when what it is sitting on.. is plugged in.

I went with the Mophie, it's smaller and little more stealthy/modern looking. The styling on the Belkin seems a bit dated. There are also some reviews saying the Belkin makes a ticking noise. They both charge at 7.5W max so no advantage there.

I hope the AirPower base is similar to the old Nokia pad.

I bought the Belkin for my nightstand and it works great. I’ve used it for two nights so far and no issues at all. Very happy with it.

I don't know if it means much but the new Belkin wireless charger in the Apple Store was supposedly designed by Apple and said to have worked closely with Belkin specifically for the 3 new models.

Your opinion. I think the Belkin looks Apple designed.

I got one yesterday and charged last night. The green LED is understated and the brightness is perfect. It's a bit large in diameter, compared to other models but to me it's classy looking.

I heard reports of it making a ticking sound - do you notice that? I have a white noise machine for sleeping so I wouldn't have known it, but I'm going to definitely check it tonight.

How do you know that? I can't see Apple designing products manufactured by other companies with their name on it.

It says on their website - "Belkin worked closely with Apple to design a charging pad..." but "worked closely" can mean anything.

Yea I wasn't implying they designed it for them, but it says with Apple they designed the charging pad, that's the closest you will get with them designing a third party product. Obviously Apple worked closely enough with them to allow them to put that on the items description

I haven’t noticed any sound coming from the charger at all. As far as the size, I like the larger area of support as it helps keep the phone stable when I touch the Touch ID to wake up the phone while it’s on the pad. I’m very happy with it. Of course I will buy the Apple branded one next year but this one is great for now.

I have the Belkin - it's seems very nice to me. I keep it on my kitchen counter, and it does what it's supposed to do.

What am I missing about these 2 charging pads versus the Anker Powertouch 10?

I had the Mophie one for a couple of days but it did not charge any faster than the Powertouch with the 10w charging brick.

The Powertouch is half the price with the charger than both of these. It is about half the footprint and way more discrete. And has way less crazy wasted packaging.

    I don’t get it?

For those with the Morphie pad, how long is the cable? I need a longer cable for my desk, and am concerned that it uses a proprietary connector. I don’t want to use an extension cord.

    Thanks.

Apple’s design team had absolutely nothing to do with its physical appearance. They worked on the technology and compatibility. Nothing more.

I just checked, and with the room completely silent, my iPhone 8 charging, and my ear right next to the charging pad it sure seems completely silent.

Does the LED light on yours ever flash? I purchased two for my bed stand (and my wife’s) and every time I lay the phone on the charger it starts charging perfectly.

But sometimes in the middle of the night when I wake up to go to the restroom I notice one of the lights is flashing. I pick the phone up (place it back down) and it starts working perfectly again with a solid LED light.

According to Mophie’s website it starts flashing once it detects a metal/foreign object? But I obviously don’t have a metal foreign object on there so I’m a bit perplexed.
