The car vent mount works perfectly for me! I've had a magnet in the bottom of the back of my iPhone for the past 2 years because I use my phone for car navigation as well as wireless charge it. Great that it's integrated now, I would have never imagined this! Can't wait to purchase this!

Get the magsafe charger from apple for $39
No that won’t work, to lay it down how would you get the MagSafe charger to stay on your desk, and you would need 2 hands, if you pick it up the MagSafe would stay attached it’s not the benefit of a wireless charger, might as well just plug the cable in

Disappointing the car mount does not have charging...
Exactly this. I've literally been waiting years for that product, checking every few months to see if someone has brought it to market. I was so excited when I saw it announced yesterday, and so disappointed to read this today.

As things stand, none of the magnetic car mounts on the market work with wireless charging (unless you put the magnets in less secure places on the phone) because the magnets get in the way. Belkin did nothing to address that, despite the solution—MagSafe—being provided on a silver platter. All they did was spare us a bit of the annoyance with the current magnetic mounting systems, namely that they either rely on ugly, stick-on magnets or require that you use a special case with magnets built in.

Why wasn’t the Apple Watch cable called MagSafe, they say the return of MagSafe but it’s just the same as Apple Watch we have had for years, no real need, apple just needed to allow 15w for Qi charging like every other iPhone but nope they want our money

Seems like a big missed opportunity. When Apple introduced wireless charging to the iPhone, Belkin also announced a wireless charging car mount which ended up being vaporware.

First day of winter is December 21. So, it will come out in the last 10 days of the year? Or is that a PR way of saying "early 2021"?
It depends on how you count winter (assuming northern hemisphere). Is winter meteorological winter (December 1 - February 28/29), historic winter (winter solstice is midwinter so winter is roughly early November through early February), or the popular modern definition (winter solstice to the spring equinox)?

In any of the cases, "winter 2020" probably means between November and the end of the year (but could be early 2021 since winter 2020 starts in 2020 and extends into 2021).

Bummer. The watch needs to be in nightstand orientation.

Not really. The Mophie unit that does all three (not MagSafe on iPhone) is $139 US.
Just because Mophie is ripping you off doesn't mean this isn't expensive for what it is.

$150? No thanks, I can get the same stand for less than $50 from some Chinese brand on Amazon a week after the iPhone 12 is out.

MagSafe is a feature that doesn't excite. I'm not going to spend even more money on fancy accessories when I can charge my phone the good old way. That said, I'm sure these accessories will do extremely well, especially as Christmas rolls around and people need to buy stocking stuffers.

I expect manufacturers to start producing vent mounts to hold the standard magsafe cables. Those can't be tough nor expensive to make at all.

Curious that Apple did not include a MagSafe like charger with the new iPhones - like Apple Watch. I get capitalism, but this is ridiculous. Unless you own a fairly recent Apple computer, you’ll have to purchase a device to charge these new phones.

Agree - the watch does need to be in nightstand orientation. Otherwise looks like a great product.

I was just about to say...no charing OHHHH says PR: "you can hang cables behind it". Sounds like a very standard PR answer trying to preemptively justify the no charing capability.

I’m good with my current Anker wireless charger. I only wirelessly charge it at night. It can take its time.
