Ugh, why can't they just make the charger circles black on black models? That stand looks like some demented Mickey Mouse bust when there are no devices being charged, i.e. the lion's share of its existence.
I believe the magnetic charging pad, just like the watch puck, is an MFi component directly from Apple.

I’m really happy that the screen protector gets to chill in the background. It’s like the phone takes it off before getting on the charger for the night. sleep well little buddy.

I just don't understand why, if you want a charger that sticks in place and can hold up your iPhone, you wouldn't just use a damn Lightning dock.

Most people use a wireless charger while
They sleep so just buy a cheap £10 one and doesn’t matter if it’s slower at night, £150 is a joke for a charger
Exactly don't need 15W overnight. Although you could probably have it at your desk too where you might want to stay as topped off as possible

I wonder when the car manufactures will include in their vent designs charging capabilities ?
I would have been excited if I could have ever found one that actually stayed on without bending the vents down. I loved my CD slot wireless charger, but our new vehicle doesn't have a CD Player. At least it has Car Play, so my iPhone can charge that way.

No that won’t work, to lay it down how would you get the MagSafe charger to stay on your desk, and you would need 2 hands, if you pick it up the MagSafe would stay attached it’s not the benefit of a wireless charger, might as well just plug the cable in
You didn't ask for a one handed charger. You said you wanted a laydown charger with 15w. The magsafe covers both of those.

The car mount caught my eye but then I realized it doesn’t actually charge the phone and you still have to plug in a lightning cable. Sounds ok if it was $20 but at $40 that’s a pass.

I’ve never had a vent mount that didn’t fall out at the first speed bump in the road.

I’ve had a couple cheap ones that did that. The Kenu Airframe+ has been working great for me in my Accord and in a couple other cars I have rented. Once seated it stays firmly in place and doesn’t come unseated too easily when I take the phone in and out. I have it pushed back far into the vent slats so the phone body is touching the dash and that helps keep the phone stable over bumps and such.

I got caught without it on a recent trip and bought a cheapo at Walmart and, just as you say, it was total trash and started loosening up and flopping around within a couple days.

So, no more screen films? Just hard glass screen protectors?
I switched over to a glass protector ~2 yrs ago and will never go back to film. The user experience is just so much better with a glass screen protector. They can be found for less than $10 on Amazon. There honestly just isn't a reason to use the old school film protectors anymore.

Many of you must be new to Apple's ecosystem. Belkin has had these pricey charging stations for years. Always available at the Apple Store.

You wouldn't believe how common they are in corporate offices. I'm an IT contractor and most corporate offices I visit have some version of these Belkin charging stations:

I'm personally looking forward to this new magsafe version.

Please forgive me for asking this, and perhaps this will not be the case.
However.
What I'm imagining as a scenario with these current/future wireless charging stands is this:

Your stand/pad/dock is sitting on the table/desktop beautifully positioned.
When time comes to charge your new phone, you place your phone onto the pad/area with one hand and the built in ring of magnets, snaps it perfectly into place.
Really nice.

Later on you go to pick up your phone, and drag the attached changing base/dock/pad off the table as the magnets are holding it tight.
So you end up having to use two hands, one to pull the phone away, the other to hold down the charging pad.

Now.......

I'd love to think the designers have all thought of this, and have build enough weight (chunks of metal) into all of these magnetic charging stands to the stay rock solid in place on your desktop as you pull the phone off.

But, you know what....

I don't think they have thought of that, and my less than ideal scenario will be all to common with many of them.

Your thoughts?

I'm sure there will be Chinese versions of these products on Amazon very soon. All they have to do is surround a standard Qi charger with some magnets and make it into these general shapes. I bet you'll see car docks with charging built in too.

Disappointing the car mount does not have charging...

lol. Bro that’s all you recognized? It’s disappointing that most likely the The Car Vent PRO’s MagSafe magnets will hold the iPhone better that it’s own vent clip. One hood speed bump, pot hole or sudden dead stop & slam go move will drop em both!

I do find it humorous that Apple touts how many accys are already out there when omitting the charger to save the planet, then go on to include a lightning to USB-C cable that likely isn't compatible with most all of the previous apple chargers, brave.

So glad there are third parties to go to.

As someone who has been using anti-glare film on iPhones since the very beginning, this statement is categorically incorrect.

I knew the price would be high, but I actually laughed when I saw $149. That is Apple level pricing.

Expensive but I like it, I was considering something like the Logitech 3 in 1 when I come to upgrade. I'll probably wait and see for what other 3 in one MagSafe chargers come along.
Expensive but really helps declutter everything.

What irks me is that the Watch and iPhone require different wireless chargers. It's time to unify around one and even include Magsafe AirPods, now that would be great.

I see people talking about removing the Lightning port, I cant see them doing this, there's so many occasions when you need to charge and use the phone - what about a long car ride or on a plane? Unless they are planning on including the Magsafe charger?

Otherwise they'd be selling you a brand new phone that you wouldn't be able to use without shelling out for a wireless charger. Apple's argument that we all already have USB power adapters was a pretty flimsy cover to saving money, but I can understand. There's no way they can say most people have a Magsafe charger, not for a long time.
