When the screen protector cracks instead of the phone, you're only out $40 compared to $100+ repair costs.
Only you can get good quality screen protectors for much much less. Like 2 for $10 on Amazon or ebay.

I think you guys are missing why they cost so much; "The Aluminosilicate glass used in InvisiGlass Ultra is the same glass used for the windows of a space shuttle." o_O

lol in all seriousness these are pretty pricey. Wouldn't you want to cover the notch too? Maybe it doesn't work as well with a screen protector over that area?

Do they make one for the rear glass? That's the more expensive side when it comes to having Apple fix it—$549! I'd rather buy full back coverage and leave the front alone since it's only $29 to fix if you're on AppleCare+.
its actually at least $228

I don't get why people used these. I never used one ever. I've never had a problem with screen scratches, even back in the day when iPhones were inferior to today's tech.

But then again, I've never cracked a screen, yet I see people with cracked screens all the time.
I was the same up until recently. My iPhone 6s had several scratches on the screen, very light, but still noticeable. I dropped my phone last month as well and the screen completely shattered. First time that has ever happened to me.

With the glass now seeming to be softer (so it doesn’t crack as easily) it seems to me more prone to light scratching. I will be getting a screen protector from now on.

Worth noting that these usually come with a two year warranty so if it does break then you should be able to get it replaced. So yes, it may be $40 for a screen protector but factor in the warranty and replacements which others don't offer and it turns out to be a good deal, especially if you're someone that breaks screen protectors regularly.

I usually get this spigen one from Amazon which gives you 2 for $8 and is probably the same quality. I would have to go through 10 replacements at $8 for 2 before adding up to $40.

Although Belkin has come a long way I’ve never really liked their screen protectors. I’ve always been partial to Power Support protectors. Apple used to sell them in store. In my opinion they have a much better product.

No way in hell I would spend 40 dollars to protect a 1,000 plus dollar phone with a screen replacement cost of 279.00 and anyone who does is a sucker.

One could expect a screen of a 1000$ + device to be able to handle daily life’s challenges without an extra protective sheathe needed to be applied to it. The whole Gorilla glass concept is built around “robustness & toughness”, is not it?

I don't disagree with this. Ultimately, in most
Situations, it comes down to how someone treats their device and handles it. I understand there are accidents that do happen unexpectedly, but over the years, I have never needed a glass screen protector or had a problem with my iPhone's before. But once this iPhone X releases, there will be plenty of tests exhibiting durability.

Possible pricing error in the UK. Both versions listed at 19.95. Go go go ;)

I noticed that earlier today, and ordered one :) The US Apple website has the correct price, but the UK site does appear to be wrong.

Anyhow, my order went through, so we'll see if they honour it or not.

Yeah I’m hoping PS comes out soon. They told me about 2 weeks after the release they will have films for the X.

I’m thinking it’s going to be a bit of a wait to pick up a privacy screen protector.

The reason I purchase a Belkin screen protector for my 6s Plus was because the Apple store people clean your screen all nice and apply it with that little contraption. Makes for a perfect install!

Lol. You can do that yourself. There are screen protectors on Amazon for 10% of that price that come with cleaning cloth and the 'contraption' you are talking about. The result is equally good.

By pretty expensive, you mean outrageously expensive. Glass is such a cheap material, and for a company like Belkin it's likely even cheaper. Even no-name brands are under $10.
They are under $10 BECAUSE they are no name brands.

Whatever you say.

Look at this:

This is $7.99 for a THREE-pack.

iPhone X Screen Protector Glass (3-Pack), amFilm iPhone X Tempered Glass Screen Protector with Easy Installation Tray for Apple iPhone X / iPhone 10 (3-Pack)

And I have their screen protector for the Nintendo Switch which is absolutely TOP quality. There's a reason it's rated so highly, and is the number 1 accessory for the Switch. $8.99, for a TWO pack.

I agree with you. Cheaper are equally good. I am using a $5 glass screen protector I bought from Amazon for my iPhone 6s myself. I was just saying companies tend to overcharge when they become a brand. Hence no name brands are cheaper.

OH I see.

Well, either way.. you'd have to be nuts to pay $40 for a screen protector, though I do recognize the Belkin is thinner (0.21mm vs 0.3mm) etc.
