How does that work? They're both supposed to be good guys.

Batman isn't particularly a huge fan of Superman depending on the day. Heck Batman's generally not much of a huge fan of anybody. Or maybe Batman gets taken over by Poison Ivy... who knows.

I can picture Affleck as Bruce Wayne so I guess he can be Batman. Although I haven't been a fan of any Superman movie yet.

I'm not a comics person so all I know of Batman/Superman is what has been played out on the TV shows and movies.

"More than 2,500 people had already signed it a few hours after the announcement of Affleck’s casting."

That's like saying nobody has signed it considering there are almost 314 million people in the US alone. My workplace employs more people than 2,500... :p

Just the idea that someone thought enough of this to start a petition is just totally silly and frivolous to me.

I grew up in the 60's and never liked Batman. Am I the only one who thinks Batman sucks?

With the amount of people in the world, the odds are you aren't the only one.

I'm not a Batman or Superman expert by any means, but I have gotten the impression from time to time that Batman gets annoyed at Supermans code of ethics and resents that Superman has it easy with his powers. It's more jealousy than hate I think. I doubt that's enough to set off a legitimate fight so I've no doubt there will be a 3rd party catalyst, otherwise the movie will be junk.

That's a Val Kilmer like kind of desaster, not going to watch it if true.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

West
Keaton (no1)
Kilmer
Clooney
Bale

Wasn't totally convinced, but when I read rumors about Ryan Gosling I thought it an intersting choice, probably able to bring back some Keatoness. Now Affleck on the other hand...brings back the cheesy and hammy stuff ;)

The greatest Batman is undoubtedly Kevin Conroy. There is no close second. I am not joking.

Batman is a huge loner. He is smarter than Superman, but he also does not like to rely on others. Robin, Batgirl, etc. appear to only be his partners in name, as Batman has his hands on the wheel.

Didn't people say the same thing about Heath Ledger when he was announced to play Joker? Look what happened there.

Not saying Affleck will have the same outcome, but you never know.

Has anyone read the graphic novel where batman beats the living daylights (literally, and pun intended) out of Superschmuck? If not, then you might want to. Affleck is too pretty to be the Batman that destroys superman, and too young.

How many actors does that make? Adam West was my favourite!

Depends on whether you're only counting the movie Batmans, all live action incarnations, or every adaptation including the animated ones.

Speaking of which, Kevin Conroy will always be my favorite too. And similarly Mark Hamill will always be my favorite Joker.

He's an actor, and judging by his (underrated) performance in Argo, I think he can handle Batman. The problem is the new film itself has a lot going against it.

Absolutely. These two have been playing these roles for the better part of 20 years. Nearly every modern interpretation of the Joker and Batman (outside Dark Knight Trilogy) takes cues from Hamill and Conroy.

I say we kill two birds with one stone and name Affleck CEO of Microsoft. Talk about you win, win.

^ Ben Affleck to become the new Chuck Norris? You read it here first!

As long as Russell Crowe isn't featured (Lex Luthor?), I'm fine.

I read somewhere late last night that they are looking in part to The Dark Knight Returns for inspiration for the movie plot. So you can read the plot synopsis of that if you like to see why they might duke it out, although I'd recommend reading the comics!

Funny, I just bought it an hour ago. Was surprised about the Dark Knight Strikes Again, but this one looks like a keeper.

There is also a Superman - Batman crossover going on right now. Just got the first issue (after an absence of collecting / reading comics of about 15 years) and thought it very well made. Just got initially interested because of the artist, though.

I liked Bale as Batman and don't think Affleck will fit the role that well (hopefully he doesn't use his annoying accent).

As long as we can see some more of Anne Hathaway in the catwoman suit then I may watch this movie :D

Batman vs Superman.

How does the Bat stand a chance against Superman? That guy's invulnerable while he's not. Not to mention superhuman strength, flight, heat vision, arctic breath and so on.

In a real 1v1 fight in terms of combat capability, I highly doubt Bat has a chance despite his grand array of cutting-edge gadgets up his sleeve. Just saying.

Batman is a genius. In the comics and DC animated universe he quickly figures out Superman's weaknesses and how to exploit them.

Batman has beaten Superman at least three times.
