3GB RAM is nothing to get excited about. Androids are soon moving from 6GB to 8GB.

Don't give me the bullcrap that ohh iOS is teh mozt optimizzzed OS.

I believe they have still tried to be a miser and given just 3 instead of 4.

Reminds me of budget Androids with 750 MB or 1.5 GB odd figured RAM sizes.

It's true though. iOS does use RAM better than Android. I have no problem using iOS devices with 2GB or even 1GB of RAM. Android devices with those amounts struggle noticibly running the same apps. Well, at least 2GB devices do. I've never even tried an Android device with just 1.

So yes, Apple could be less cheap and give 4GB for the handful of iPhone users who care or even know how much RAM is in their phone, but it probably won't make a difference to most people.

It's not bullcrap when it's absolutely true. Have you seen the real world speed tests? iPhone 6S blows Androids with twice the RAM completely out of the water. Optimization isn't some myth.

System information : ARM @ 396 Mhz - 2 Processors

Obviously this version of GeekBench can't handle the new A10 processor,
I suspect a new version of the software is needed

And iOS 10.1 ? Should't that be 10.0.1 ?

Yeah, the iPhone 7 plus is gonna be slow as snails.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It would cost Apple less than $2 to put 4GB in every device. Apple hardware design is nearly always compromised in some stupid way by beancounters.

It's too bad most iPhone-only users are not informed of how different mobile operating systems work. iOS have gotten away with less DRAM because it has done less especially in regards to foreground task switching vs multitasking and not doing background multitasking. People who use both iOS and Android clearly understand the differences.

Oh give over, will you. If the roles were reversed, you'd be boasting about Android's delicious optimisation, and how these ludicrously designed chips can run an OS on butter with less than half the specs.

Yet as it happens: Android is a bloated, sobbing, nappy-wearing man-child of an operating system, getting spoonfed RAM and cores by the tubful, as its mother prays it will finally grow up and get a job. Instead it just soils itself and asks for more.

Apple's achievements in the A-series CPU field is nothing short of astounding.

I'll echo everyone else. It is more optimized and can do a lot more with 2gigs than android because of ram management. Android needs more ram. Not bullcrap at all.

Precisely. Android's multitasking design is a huge part of its problems, for RAM, battery, AND security. Meanwhile, iOS multitasks in a modern efficient way, and we reap the benefits.

Most ignorant thing I've heard. Android is Linux which is probably the most secure OS available combined with additional security measures like Knox. iOS even on the iPad with split view doesn't multitask but task switch with only one app active at a time.

Your response is moronic. Android is a piece of ****. That's no excuse for Apple being chintzy.

Less RAM means fewer apps resident at once, which means worse multitasking, which means a less capable platform. Finance beancounters (Tim) are making iOS less capable than it otherwise would be by hamstringing headroom for new features. The list of features not supported on the iPad air but supported on the Air 2 proves this.

Oh, the irony in this post... Where on God's green earth do you get your information?

Tell you what; I'll make you a wager. Use the iPhone 7 and take a video demonstrating where you can really see the phone struggling due to RAM.

Here's the thing: if you say "it could be more if we just add another 1GB... just another 2... just double it here... just one more core" – it's a dangerous thought process to get into. It really is. I would argue that this is true in any element of engineering, not just computing.

There are like a handful of chinese Androids with 6 GB, standard size for flagship models in 2016 seems to be 4 GB. And the whole optimization thing is not bullcrap.
Even when comparing Android vs Android there are huge differences in RAM management, I would even go as far to say some companies like Samsung just can't do software in general.
It's crazy how some mid-range Nexus with one third the benchmark scores of flagship models is running 100% fluent while there are still UI laggs on Samsung's 800$ devices released in 2016.

Seriously, Samsung is doing some great hardware but they should fire their software department instantly.
