So I saw the case in etsy but didn't wanna pay that price so I made my own. Took 4 hours n bam my own custom case.

I like the material and design! Do you have the time to make another?

My cheap ebay neoprene sleeve finally arrived.

It is just as expected = kind of lame, but will be work for my purposes (as my MBA doesn't leave the house all that often).

Amazingly enough, mine's arrived as well.
Its actually better than I expected. Doesn't seem lame at all. Do you think the Incase neoprene sleeve seems any better at 3x the price?

I had been worried. Some of the descriptions on eBay list dimensions which are too large for the 11" MBA. But the one I received is exactly right sized. A nice snug fit all around.

My only initial concern is that the stitching is exposed. There isn't anything covering it. The thread rubs pretty hard against the side of the MBA when putting it in and out of the sleeve. But again I hope it won't actually scratch the MBA. I assume the aluminum is tougher than the nylon thread.

Overall it seems pretty well put together. Stinks like neoprene though. I'm letting it air out.

The guys at RearthUSA are sending me a keyboard cover, and I will post a review when I have it.
Lots of nice sleeves shown in this thread, and boy did it take Incase a while to get out a 11" sleeve! Jeaps!

Anyone notice that the Incase sleeve has made it to the Apple Store but doesn't ship for 3-4 weeks. The current offering has been discontinued at Best Buy and B&H. After reading a review that pointed out shortcomings on the current one the description of the new ones seem like they've addressed the issue with a new model.

Just ordered a Colcasac sleeve for my 11'' Air I bought this morning.

This one is a stop gap until the Hard Graft case comes back into stock.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. It is a little tough to get the MBA in and out of the case. I have a similar case for my MBP 13, so I knew just what to expect. The kinda lame comment is just in comparison to some of the other cases available (at 4 to 7 times the price).

So bottom line, no complaints from me (other than while I was waiting for it arrive people started to sell them cheaper and ship from the US).

The other one I am thinking about getting which is $40.00 total (I think the price should be $30.00 total).... is called the "airVelope" from airVelope.co. I think the company is based in Singapore, but they do ship to America and internationally tho it would cost $40.00 USD total.

I am deliberating between this and the black leather one for $20.00 which appears to look nice (see previous post).

I'm learning towards the black one, but if they can reduce the price of this & make this available in the Apple Store or US markets, I bet that this would sell like crack.

For $40.00 tho, a bit out of my price range. Make it $25.00 or $30.00 and I'll buy it.

Edit: I also don't like the airvelope's black lettering on the case, but after speaking with the company, I was told that using some nail polish remover would get rid of it.

This one is $20.00 --- looks nice and not $50.00+
Looks nice, except I worry about even having a zipper next to it, much less a hard metal button right in the middle. I picture it getting hit hard enough to dent the aluminum. Probably unlikely, but still. I'd rather have soft material with nothing hard on the top/bottom of the MBA. Thats why I like the idea of soft neoprene without even a zipper.

I have always disliked any sleeve which has a button, rivet, snap, etc. positioned over the notebook case. Any bump or impact against the side of the computer will cause all of the force to be focused on the tiny post of the button which could cause a dent or puncture of the thin aluminum skin (much like the damage women's spiked heels can cause to some surfaces due to the magnified psi at the tiny heel surface).

You're better off worrying about getting AIDS or herpes, both of which would be very unlikely. & no zipper = scratches on the side that is exposed.

it's cushioned on the other side so it won't do anything.

I don't think the minimal "cushioning" will have that much effect. Even a moderate broadside bump could be a damaging blow when the energy of the impact is focused to a point source.

Unlikely.

I was able to get the Incase sleeve from my local Apple Store. It's nice and thin. However, I don't know if I'll get used to the idea of struggling to open and close the flap when the MBA is inside. I am also concerned about stuff getting in the sleeve since it doesn't truly close. I don't know why Incase decided to design it this way. What's wrong with using zippers? I didn't have a problem with their MacBook Pro zipper sleeves. But I needed a sleeve right away. I ordered the Be.ez LA Robe Allure from Amazon, but it won't ship until next month.

All I can think of when I see this new influx of wool cases is this:

I'm glad you posted this. I liked the look of the wool, but hadn't even considered the cats--I can't leave my eyeglass case open because the cats want to roll in the wool lining. I don't need them rolling across my new computer.

Has anyone tried the felt sleeves off ebay will they protect the macbook air from scratches, or am I better off going for the pack and smooch sleeves.
Watch out with the felt-only sleeves, the outside is going to get fluffy quite fast,
I've had a hardgraft sleeve for my iPhone a long time ago :/

I received this as a gift the other day, and its great! Especially for $20 :) Highly recommended.

I had a Waterfield design sleeve prior to this and whilst it is more compact I found it didn't offer great protection and couldn't carry the device by itself comfortably. With the Boxwave I can now just take my laptop outside without my full messenger bag.

I purchased the incase 11" sleeve for my MacBook Air in the Apple Store at the time of my notebook purchase and it's done the job well so far :)

What's the best sleeve for the 11" that protects it? Mine's going to be in a large backpack and I don't fancy it being squished much!
