You alchoholics.....worlds stupidest Thread...do you know what this stuff does to your brain?

What does having a beer or two do to your brain? Why does having a beer make you an alcoholic? And why are you angry about it?

I really like British Beers better than anything over here. Courage Directors Bitter is my all time favorite.

Though if I had to pick a U.S. beer I'd pick Shiner Bock.

Great call by Piarco75 on Kwak, I totally forgot about it. I have a big bottle just waiting for the right night in the basement. It's my wife's favorite - but I think that its just because she likes the name.

Yes, it does awesome things to my brain.

And how does having a few beers make you an alcoholic? Have you ever even had A beer before? Have you ever consumed ANY alcohol?

Alcohol is tight.

Spanish Peaks Brewing Black Dog Ale

This thread was making me rather thirsty, so I headed down to the store, and lo and behold, found a pack of Black Dog Ale on sale. 5.99/6! Haven't tried it before, but figure I'd better get some Montana microbrew under my belt before leaving..

So you're mad at people who like beer, and insulting us by saying we are addicted to alcohol.

If you're calling anyone who has had or likes beer an alcoholic, then you're calling a gigantic majority of the over-18 population of the world 'addicted to alcohol'.

...do you know what this stuff does to your brain?

pretty well in fact...

1-nothing
2-nothing
3-nothing
4-light headed
5-merry
6-tipsy
7-quite tipsy
8-drunk
9-wasted
--I stop there. And never regularly even nearly approach that...

Death is inevitable. Do what you want and enjoy life. Don't waste your time being concerned with what others are doing, especially if you disagree.

The best beer in the world is of course the beer which is brewed in the town i grew up and where my parents still live :)

Bitburger Pils

and Kilkenny of course!

Where are you going to be staying? If you're not in the middle of nowhere, there should be a fairly decent package store (liquor store) which will have a variety of choices.

Of course, "nowhere" is a pretty subjective term.

Courage Directors Bitter? Here in the US? Tell me more! The only bitter I've found has been Fullers ESB.

I didn't know that you could get large bottles! Had a quick look on 'net and lo and behold... 750ml bottles! Nice one Phat Elvis!

Well, the year is devided in two parts:
Aug - Jan = College
Feb - Jul = Internship

I don't know where i'll be staying during the first six months yet. I'd like to stay near a big city like Chicago, Philadelphia or Boston.
The last six months i will be doing an internship at a company near Miami, FL.

Not sure about the beer situation in Chicago or Philadelphia, but there are some decent bars around Boston. Here's one of them:

I would assume that Philadelphia has a few brew pubs, or at least one place with decent ale. Chicago might be iffy, close to the heartland of Budweiser, Coors, Miller and all that.

Unfortunely I haven't found it in the U.S. I had it while studying at Oxford last summer. Like you, I've only been able to find Fullers ESB here. Though a quick search of BevMo returned this.

If you are going to be in Philadelphia, DEIFINATELY check out these two beers:

Yuengling

Magic Hat #9

Yuengling is my favorite by farm it comes from somewhere in PA. Magic Hat comes from PA as well- #0 is awesome and has a berry flavor to it.

As for American beer tasting like water over in Germany, I can imagine. Let me guess? Budweiser, Miller, Coors? All absolute crap, in my opinion.

Pottsville. Yuengliing comes from Pottsville, PA. Which is quite farmish.

Magic Hat comes from Vermont.

I like really cold Rolling Rock just for its crispness. Don't bother with the flavor, it has nice texture.

On that note, I love seeing the Budweiser panels along the sides of the field at the World Cup in germany. Hah. :p
