Safari + Glims is my choice. Chrome isn't as good as it is on Windows, Firefox has crappy font rendering.

i find chrome beutiful on my 27" iMac
any reason for your dislike of it on large screens?

Well on large screens it's really more of a preference than anything. I have been using firefox on my workstation so long that when I installed chrome, something looked funky about the resolution. Its also been having some trouble with certain java pages (EG Paypal's international postage printing), though admittedly this is probably more my fault than anything for not even investigating a fix because Firefox works fairly flawlessly (3.6 at least, 4.x beta still crashes on me alot).

Safari is my browser of choice. I don't use a lot of bells & whistles in my browser so the basic Safari build works great for my needs.

Same here.

I tried Safari, and the problem I had with it is that it does not remember the amount of zoom for each site/page where FF does.

I have noticed that and I regard it as a "problem," but it's so easy with multi-touch interface to zoom in again, or zoom out again. It doesn't bother me.

I'm new to this, a recent convert as of a couple of months ago. I didn't even know there was a Safari ad-block plugin!

Just downloaded and installed Chrome and AdBlock - works great, and will be giving this one a trial.

It also remembers the zoom level for each web site/page !!!!!

AdBlock for Chrome found here:

I noticed this ad-block download is for Windows - do I need this if I run chrome on MAC OS X?

Just curious - looking to give Chrome a try, but didn't know if I needed this ad-block with it or not?

Thanks

You can use it, but personally I prefer just using Glimmerblocker and setting it as a proxy in whatever browser I'm using.

Firefox for me. I use xmarks with it and it lets me easily sync my bookmarks between my PC and work computer as well.

I like Chrome as a close 2nd, but I don't like that it doesn't have a master password in Chrome like Firefox does.

Using Safari here with AdBlock and ClickToFlash enabled. It's super speedy.

As a MobileMe subscriber... my bookmarks are synched instantly on all of my Macs AND my iPhone. Very convenient indeed.

Still trying out Chrome, and so far one thing that I miss is the single click open bookmarks in new tab , like the FF add-on allows.

Just downloaded Chrome - I figured I'd give it a try. I'm moving from Firefox. I definitely like that Chrome doesn't eat up my memory like FF does.

Question for you Chrome users - how do you have your privacy settings configured? As I've read some have privacy concerns with Google.

Thanks

Okay. Hmmmm.

No, Chrome is *not* native 64-bit.

My initial and admittedly anecdotal observation is that (1)it is slower in browsing this particular vBulletin forum and (2)it is not absolutely perfect with the URL and my Magic Trackpad.

I'll try it for a couple of days, but my first impression is that I'll go back to Safari.

Hmmm. You can also get it to post without refreshing, which means that Chrome isn't reading the old Jelsoft/vBulletin accelerator correctly. vBulletin allows certain things to happen without causing a page refresh for the user, but it is supposed to place information you've typed onto your screen without refreshing the other information, and this doesn't happen 100% of the time.

I've never seen a browser that didn't do that correctly. Is MacRumors using a metatag that causes an automatic page refresh outside the vBulletin plugins?

It also asked for permission to use my MobileMe and MacRumors keychains, but then did not plug the information into the right place. Not sure what it did with the keychains if it's not putting them in the right place.

Sending the keychains to Google, I guess. :)

I like the looks of it, though, and will play around with it more.

I use chrome but don't like how it enables Nvidia whenever the download bar pops up.

I used Safari for a good while and preferred it over Chrome because it was much smoother on OSX BUT it would periodically crash when i had multiple tabs open. Which is a drag if you are working on anything of importance.

If you don't mind a "barebones" browser Chrome is awesome. I use Firefox because I can't live without my extensions, extensions aside it is by far the worst.

LOL I had the same thought...

is there any extension to make safari's download window like chromes or firefox's download status bar? i wanna use safari again but cant stand the way the download window popsup

i like the drop-down address bar in Firefox - is there not a way to do that in chrome??

It's just nice to be able to navigate through my pages without having to type.
