#1 Firefox for me.

I'd like it to be Chrome, but one thing that annoys the hell out of me is that the "Other Bookmarks" folder stays pinned to the right side of the Bookmarks Bar. Is there no way to move it to the far LEFT???

i know safari is default cuz its apple and all..
but what do you guys have as a separate option:
Google Chrome
Firefox 3.5
Firefox 4 Beta
Opera
Just safari

I have all of them on my MBP. The only one I almost never use is Opera. I prefer to use the latest 64-bit nightly Minefield build most of the time, but, certain Windows-based websites generally work better with Chrome, FF3.5, or Safari, depending on what MS-centric stuff they use on the site. Until recently, I always used Chrome when forced to use Flash-- certain commercial websites require it. Recently I have tried out the 64-bit Flash beta with the Minefield 64-bit nightly, and, it actually seems to work. Oh, I also like to use Chrome when accessing YouTube - I like to use HTML5 when possible. I like to use Safari when going to apple.com- generally works/looks better. I haven't really found anything that Opera does better, but, I keep it around and try it out occasionally.

Bottom line: 90% of the time, FF Minefield beta8 64-bit nightly build.

Firefox! I've been a Firefox loyalist since as far back as I can remember. Stability and security are at the top of the list plus the customization can't be beat.

Though considering Google provides 96% of Firefox's revenue if I recall correctly...if they really wanted to they could probably issue the deathblow to their biggest competitor. Though there might be some antitrust laws to deal with.

I use Firefox on my MBP. I think i just got used to it, plus it features AdBlock Plus.

So after reading the beginning of this thread a couple weeks back I decided to give Chrome a shot after using firefox for years.

Chrome is definitely faster, it uses a bit less RAM and seems to use less battery power.

HOWEVER, I just don't like how there is no drop down button on the far right hand side of the web address bar. I love being able to navigate through my favorite web pages without ever touching my keyboard. Plus, I like having my search window separate from my web address bar.

Chrome is definitely a great option, but the deal is I'm just so used to the firefox interface.

So I'm back on firefox

Firefox is my top choice as it runs fastest, has all the extensions and features I want and never gives me problems.

There is only one area that Firefox is lacking and that is energy saving. There is a noticeable difference in battery life of my MBP when I surf in Firefox rather than Safari.

From my experience, Safari is the least power hungry of all the browsers in OS X.

Admittedly my MBP is an old model that may not benefit from some of the GPU and hardware acceleration that the newer machines offer which could potentially change the power usage.

I currently only use Safari as it will sync bookmarks automatically on my iOS devices through iTunes.

Is there any way to get chrome/firefox to do the same?

Another vote for FireFox here...I've been using it on all my computers for about five years now, and find many of its addons (AdBlock Plus, Video DownloadHelper, Flagfox, etc) very practical.
Chrome is a great browser as well, given its better use of memory and usefulness whenever FireFox crashes and demands an OS reboot.

Other browsers:

Safari - a bit too slow for my taste
Opera - for those very few situations where the other browsers won't run certain web scripts properly (but that's a problem with the website at hand...damn web designers and their "need" for IE compatibility!)
IE - wait, what?

i use firefox+adblock for good battery life, i know a poster above actually said that safari has better battery life, but is that the case? Battery life is pretty much most important to me because i am constantly on the go.

i use ad block and clicktoflash for safari ;)
Saves a lot of battery.

Fire fox isn't the fastest on any internet benchmark you can find. Its actually the slowest. Safari or Google chrome for me.

I used Firefox up until yesterday, when it died. Now I use Google Chrome. Under the activity monitor Google Chrome uses quite a bit less RAM and CPU power. Browsing a couple of tabs in Chrome uses only 3-5% of the CPU power, and 1.45 GB of RAM is in use. While Firefox uses 10-15% of the CPU power, and 1.60 GB of RAM in use.

Chrome is a lot snappier when using tons of tabs, and doing heavy internet activities. Firefox seemed heavier and more sluggish...

I use Firefox with AdBlock and NoScript and Safari with ad block requires much less processing power on my machine.

Unfortunately I have yet to find a website that uses benchmarks that give a real and complete picture. Javascript performance is far from everything. On every machine and operating system I have, Firefox is always the top performer in page load times and responsiveness.

Primary browser: Safari 5
Secondary: Chrome 7

When I saw this thread, I thought I'd run some basic benchmarks to see what the differences in speed were. I'm running a current gen 15" Core i7 MBP with 4GB RAM.

These are from Peacemaker and V8 benchmark. I ran Sunspider but the results were pretty much the same. I had done a complete reset on Safari and this was a fresh install of Chrome 7.

I ran Mozilla's Kraken the other day and Safari was faster than Chrome.

I used to use Firefox because I needed the extensions but now Chrome has most of what I need so I am glad to be rid of FF. It was a massive resource hog and not as stable or fast.
