Ah, the power the Best Buy trappings afford the Best Buy employees. Most of the people working at Best Buy will not be working there in two years, as the case is with most retail box stores, as there is little incentive to work for just-above minimum wage. You'd never believe it, though, when walking into a store like Best Buy who's got an "exclusive" right to sell the iPhone or the iPad. Such power! It drives the employees to arrogance. They'll look haughtily on you - as if being close to the pile of iPhones gives them a step-up on the rest of the mundane, the muggles, the ones without the mark of the beast, or so it would seem.
I laugh when I see this kind of arrogance, and I let the employee know exactly what it is. I say something like, "are you going to be working here five years from now?" while smirking insultingly. The response generally is a bit of surprise on their part, and then they slink away realizing that the source of their potency has been discovered, and found lacking.
I don't own an iPhone, care about iPhones, or even have a cell subscription - my present phone is a flip LG from Net10 (w/ bluetooth, camera, games, etc.) that cost me $22 for 600 minutes and 120 days. That's $5.50 per month, and we don't even have the opportunity to use all the minutes! I badger my wife, begging her to use them, lest they have to be carried over and I have to choose between salvaging the minutes left, or switching to another similar deal. "Call someone, call your sister in Boise!" On the last day, there's always hundreds left and I feel like I'm wasting them. The result is that I have about 25 spent cell-phones (tracfone mostly) in a box, with thousands of unused minutes.
So, I'll say thanks, guys, for subsidizing my cellular frugality. If it wasn't for the lot of you blowing your wads on iPhones to be able to talk and drive, I'd not be able to get cellular for $5.50/month! (Incidentally, I bought 10 of these phones with at $22 for 600 minutes/120 days, so I'm set up for the next couple of years at a cost lower than your entry!)
$220 = 1200 days, 6000 minutes, 10 phones, 10 phone numbers (a little unfortunate, but I get around that with Google Voice). I would have bought more, but was afraid of Net10's ability to stay in business long enough!
