Just talked to the store manager at my Best Buy. 5PM local time and not one minute early, Best Buy will lose priviledges to sell Apple products if they sell an iPad2 before 5PM.

just spoke with a different chain selling the ipad2. I was able to put my name down to reserve one and he said I could buy it when it comes in either on the 10th or 11th. The best bet is if you're going to get this early, don't go yapping about it on the twitterverse. Help the people out that gave it to you early by not getting them in trouble, if in fact, they do get in trouble.

All I'm saying is, call places other than Best Buy.

Alright there is officially no chance of getting one from best buy before 5. They will be priced at 10,000 until launch time.

There is also an official internal memo stating the 10000 price and the 5PM release time.

Also, can't you just order online at BB and have it held for pickup?

yes 1700 local time, which means EST will receive it first in the US.

Just checked with a number of Best VBuy in New York area.

Brooklyn, Bay Parkway store
In Person - Guy in Apple shirt, with clipped on Nano - "We will sell it at 10am, when store opens"

44th street and 5th ave
Over the phone - "We will start selling at 5pm"

NOHO store
Over the phone - "Starting sale at 5pm"

Gateway mall (smaller store)
In person, with store manager - "We cannot sell it before 5pm. To start early, it would be a violation of our reseller agreement with Apple. We are getting a Demo model on 10th, which we are allowed to put on display"


So, yes, I would be surprised if ANY store sells it before 5. I kind of have to buy it in Best Buy. Have my Reward Zone certificates, plus Silver status. Also, suggest that you pay for it with Amex, if you have one. Their extended warranty should cover it.

Just called the Best Try store in Hagerstown MD, Manager said they will receive iPad shipments in Friday morning and place them on sale in the "evening"...methinks that means 5:00pm like apple said.

Anyhoo...BB site only lists black models. Any word on white iPad's and if other retailers will be allowed to get them early?

Looks like slowly, but surely all of the BBs are getting memo about when to sell. Question now becomes is will they hand out vouchers prior to purchasing. Hopefully they won't, but time will tell.

luckily you only keep referring to BB. Other stores haven't received that memo as of yet, some of which are receiving their stock as early as tomorrow night. We'll see how this plays out.

Nice catch! Yea, they had the white model listed for a day, then took them down. Hoping to get a white 16gb wifi, but if I have to get black, then thats fine. But 16gb wifi for sure.
