Best Buy is offering $100 minimum for a trade in of any iPad from iPad 2 and up, so basically any one but the Original. but only for the new Pro Models; the 256gb 12.9 or any of the 9.7 ones.

Was thinking about trading in my wife's Mini which is normally $69 (so I would gain $31) and picking up the the 128gb 9.7 Pro for $649. She would inherit my Air 2 in case you're wondering.

Do you think this is a good deal to jump on? My biggest gripe is that I can currently pick up a 128gb 12.9 Pro for $773 open item from Best Buy so just slightly more.

This would be my daily driver iPad, which includes using at the gym on the elliptical nearly every day and surfing in bed (which might be a bit cumbersome).

I kind of hate passing up a good deal like the 12.9 Pro... but it might be a bad choice for an iPad I carry around all the time.

Which would you all get?

I was thinking it may be easier to read a book on the 12.9 while on the elliptical. I like the option of a full size keyboard too. I'd probably feel a little self conscious toting a 12.9 around the gym but with that spectacular screen, who cares? Not sure about bed use. My wife and I usually use our 6s pluses in bed.

In bed and walking around the house/office, I found that I got used to the larger size in a few days, and haven't found it awkward. Carrying it outside, depends on how big a bag you have. Keep in mind the 12.9 weighs about the same as the original iPad, so weight isn't really a concern if you have a bag that fits it. The major difference is in whipping it out while you are out and about. If you like to take out your iPad while walking down the street to check maps, that might be a problem. If you only use your iPad while sitting at a cafe, then the 12.9 is good.

My air 1 is worth about $135 bucks on trade. That's not enough, IMO. I can get more on the market for it. It's a 32GB with LTE.

I was wondering if this can be used on TOP of the trade in value for the iPad Air 2..mine says online its worth 207

I checked... it's not an extra $100. They did a $150 deal for the iPad Air 2, I gave up an iPad 2 that time, was hoping they'd do it this time too. Sadly not.. So in the instance of my Mini 1 they are giving me a 31 dollar extra to top it off to $100... last time they gave the balance in a bonus voucher that can only be used for an iPad purchase not an extra gift card. Only the trade in value was a gift card.

It's not worth giving up your Air 2. Better of Craigslisting it for $400.

You could probably get like 250 or maybe 300 on craigslist. This deal is only really worth it for iPad 2-3 and Mini 1

Hey I'm in LA too! I'm assuming since you're LakerChick.

Not sure if you do a lot of CL sales, but make sure you go to a public place and bring a counterfeit marker to check the bills. I'd make him/her check the bills with your marker before handing him your iPad... I got stiffed/robbed/bamboozled with fake money 2 years ago. :(

Seriously? Ya know that is always my greatest fear, that someone can bring fake money, but Ive sold a few iPads on craigslist before and never had a problem. I can get a pretty good feeling about a person when I see them and see if they look like con artists..that is why I prefer just trading these things into the stores last time I bought this iPad Air 2 was at best buy but I also used a movers coupon dont know if I could use those anymore
Where in LA are you..Im near The Grove..I chatted with someone else at best buy and she told me the same thing the other person said, that the 100 dollar gift card is on TOP of the value of the ipad
Edit: i called best buy, they said no it doesnt work like that, if the value of my iPad Air 2 is 207 that is what I would get for it so I will just use craigslist and hope that someone eventually buys it

Not a good deal for newer iPads, iPad Air 32 GB black (Sprint) is only 152 in the best condition. I'd expect at least 250 back for 2 Generations back with a carrier.

On craigslist

I put mine on craigslist for 450(iPad Air 2 64gb wifi) comes with a speck case..is that asking too much for it because only 1 person has responded so far and he never wrote back, it looks brand new if you were to look at it you would think I just bought it

Maybe 30 to 50 dollars less will be more appealing

You have to be patient. It may take awhile to sell it. You are working against a completely flooded marketplace. As far as the price goes, your ipad is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It may well be worth more to you than the general public. Best of luck.

One guy wrote me this morning offering me 350 for it I said no, the lowest I would go is 400 I think that is a decent offer, it does after all come with a case, now granted the case is the speck pink one and not everyone is a fan of pink but still its a great case and the iPad itself is perfect

Yeah I remember when I sold my previous ones I just had to be a little patient..I dont see the new ipad pro selling out so it will be easy to get one, just dont see why best buy has a promo that says they give 100 minimum for a new ipad pro but then underneath they say see the value of your ipad, it makes it sound like its two different promotions

I'm in Culver City. I go to the grove a lot. Actually hitting up WGA this weekend.

Yeah. It was a dumb move by me that night. I met him outside my apartment cause I was lazy. The money felt weird but I didn't think anything of it until I went to deposit it.

I have a pic I was going to post but work got too busy about how the gift card works.

A brand new one cost $500 so frugal people won't bite at $500. Under $400 is its mint would be about right.

I sometimes go to the Westfield Culver city(LOVE that mall, Ive taken the bus there a few times from the Grove) if I do end up selling this thing I will just take the money beforehand into the movie theater and have them check it. If the money is truly legit the person wont mind doing it..I only meet people at The Grove since its a mall and I feel safer doing this at the mall just hope I end up selling this thing, if I see in the coming days no one bites for 450 I will just lower the price to 400. I know the price of the iPad Pro will eventually go down but Im the "I gotta have it now" kind of person :)

Might have to lower the price then, will see what happens in the coming days..whats weird is even when I post something I will get responses offering me much less, not this time, not even the usual Nigerian scammers have emailed me

I have a 64gb Air 2 on CL for $400 and not a single offer. I have had a few scammers as usual though.

These things used to be so easy to sell, I remember when Ive sold previous ones I would get responses right away, the usual scammers yes, but plenty of people who wanted one..guess its getting harder and harder to unload these
