A brand new one cost $500 so frugal people won't bite at $500. Under $400 is its mint would be about right.
I was going to put mine up with the Smart Cover for $425. It also has a clear skin on back. It's mint with box and all accessories.

Amazon trade in values are much better
Was just about to say. Amazon is offering 300 for a 64gb air 2.
[doublepost=1458871220][/doublepost]
These things used to be so easy to sell, I remember when Ive sold previous ones I would get responses right away, the usual scammers yes, but plenty of people who wanted one..guess its getting harder and harder to unload these

See above for amazons trade in. 300 isn't great but better than best buy's

I have an amazon seller account, I could sell the iPad for around 400 to someone, but the thing is I would have to wait maybe 3 weeks to get the money, that's how it works with amazon, they wont transfer money to the account til a certain amount of time has passed(so if the buyer has any issues he has time to complain about it) I just would feel weird about sending something that expensive in the mail, always a chance of it getting lost thats why its better doing this face to face..doing a trade in with amazon I think means I would only get an amazon gift card so that wouldnt work since amazon wont be selling these ipads for a while

Yeah but you can spend the gift card on anything that Amazon sells. It's basically cash if you're someone that's shops on Amazon all of the time, like me.

Yeah sucks that amazon doesn't sell iPads, otherwise I would do this and buy it from them, but of course amazon can be tricky they say they give you a certain amount but change their mind once they receive it saying its not like I said it was

I put mine on craigslist for 450(iPad Air 2 64gb wifi) comes with a speck case..is that asking too much for it because only 1 person has responded so far and he never wrote back, it looks brand new if you were to look at it you would think I just bought it

I have bought only used ipads (except for the ipp 12 that I got the first day it came out) and I would not pay more for one that was being sold with a case. I usually get rid of the cases that have come with them.

Also - Apple has refurbished ipad air 2 wifi 64 for $419 - so one does not get a case one may not want but does get a year of apple's warranty and a lower price.

It can't be stacked with one of the 12.9" iPad Pros on sale right now?

They were not listed on the website for the trade in.
It only showed the newest 12.9 model and then all the 9.7 ones.

Knowing Best Buy probably not though.

$100 is hardly an incentive. Half of that will go to sales tax in many cities. It's pretty much like just giving your iPad to Best Buy for free. If you really want a discount then hold off for a month. Right now B&H is giving fantastic discounts on the 13". I suspect will see similar % off with the 9.7 Pro once the early adopters have been fed.

This deal is for the people upgrading from a 16gb iPad 2 or Mini 1 really... $100 is more than anyone else is currently offering for those devices.

Right but as I said, you'll be able to get a $100 discount very soon w/o a trade-in. So it's like giving your iPad away for free.

That would be the same thought process as... "man those suckers who bought a new iPad Air 2 in 2014 got scammed... All I had to do was wait a year and a half and now I got the same thing for $100 off, psh."

You don't know for sure when it will go on sale. You can only guess. When I upgraded to the Air 2 they offered 150 for our iPad 2. It was my daughters and it was getting really buggy and slow after the iOS update and we didn't want it anymore anyway. What were we supposed to do with it? Hoard it?

No because I'm not talking about waiting a year. I'm talking about waiting a month or so. Yes, it's a guess, but it's a guess based on the history of iPad discounting, so an educated one, not picking a date out of thin air.

Bottom line $100 is decent if one is an early adopter and has to have one on Day One. But if someone has an iPad 2 hanging around odds are they are not an early adopter. They've had it this long why not wait it out a month. Worst case is they end up selling their iPad 2 for $100 online w/o further discount. But history (and also much reduced demand for iPads since the heady days of the iPad 2) indicates discounts will come rather fast. The 13" 128GB/LTE is already below $1K, or basically the same price as the 9.7".

Smart money is to wait for the discount then sell the iPad... no need to hoard just like no need to give it away.

It says you get a $100 coupon towards an iPad Pro. It doesn't say you have to buy one today. If I take my mini in today I'll report back if they say I have to buy now or if I can keep it for a later purchase.

No sales tax in Oregon...so...:D

Historically when iPads are released in Oct, they are discounted closer to xmas. There is no xmas coming up for 9 months. The 9.7 Pro won't see a discount for at least 4 months and only if sales are terrible for it.

Just because this deal doesn't fit your lifestyle doesn't mean it can't help someone else.

True. And just because you think it's a deal doesn't mean others see it that way or that there might be a way to actually save $ on the purchase. My post was just my thoughts, not an intentional thread crap as you seem to have taken it. Whether it's Xmas or not resellers still have to move product. Xmas isn't the only time of year things go on sale in my 40 years experience as a consumer.

This is definitely not true. Ive been selling on amazon for years and immediately after printing the shipping label the money is added to my amazon account which I then can request a transfer to my bank account once every 24 hours. Only takes 2-3 days after that to get to my account.

I didn't say it was but the reason previous iPads went on sale after 1 month was that xmas season was a month after previously, and even the 12.9 pro didn't get one this last Xmas.

There are no big shopping holidays coming up for months from this upcoming week. Apple won't allow big box stores like Best Buy to discount their new baby that soon for no reason. It took 6 months before the 12.9 got a discount. So IMO your one month prediction for a discount is way off.

How do you do that, request the money to be transferred after the shipping label is printed out? Because when I sell something on amazon seller central it will show under transfer when the money will be put in and it always takes a few weeks to put in the entire amount
Edit: I tried selling it and then I got a message saying I was not approved to sell this on amazon that I would have to get "Approval" from amazon to do so and it would cost me 39.99 to do it, seems very odd so not even worth doing it

Oh lord. You are really taking this way too personally.

This topic is really getting that kicking a dead horse feel. Look if someone happens to have an iPad 2 WiFi hanging around and doesn't want the hassle of selling it online and has to have one on Day One this deal makes perfect sense. But it's not a good deal -- it's a convenience. All BB is doing is giving the customer a credit for what the iPad 2 is worth. A 16GB iPad 2 WiFi sells for $120 on eBay all day long. That's all I've been saying.

Also since when does a sale need a holiday? My Sunday paper is full of sale fliers every week. Sites like Fatwallet and Slickdeals post sales and deals every day.

Go with your gut and your experience. I remember when there were some killer deals on Macbook Airs @ Best Buy back in the Summer of 2014... with all deals and incentives, I bought a 4GB/128GB 11" MBA for $450 out-the-door. Others held off because of the "hideous" non-retina screen and the retina model that was to be announced within a few months. No retina model appeared.

Then last year, when Staples was having sales on the iPad Air 2 ($150 off), some were saying to hold off because the Air 3 was going to be announced in Nov/Dec and that there would be better deals on Black Friday.... the reality... neither happened.

Best Buy's trade-in program is hit and miss. Sometimes the values are pretty good, sometimes pretty bad. Trade-in value is in the eye of the beholder. For me, I'd gladly trade a lower value for the convenience of trading in. $100 for a 16GB iPad 2 seems to be an "ok" deal.

Before the 9.7 Pro was announced there was speculation that support for the Pencil would be exclusive to the 12.9 Pro. I said that it was most likely that the Pencil would come to the 9.7 format.

Having said all of that, I agree with you that it is highly unlikely for there to be a discount on the 9.7 Pro any time in the foreseeable future. Foreseeable = "4-6 months"... and probably closer to 8 months. That's MY gut feeling. Different guts may conclude differently.:D

You're the one coming into a thread I started and besmirching what I posted. If the deal sucks to you... great. Don't do it. Like I said. It could be useful to someone... or should I apologize for sharing?

Just traded in my 16GB 1st gen mini with a cracked screen and walked out of the store with a $100 gift card I can spend on anything at Best Buy(not just an iPad Pro). Seems like a good deal to me.
