Every place has website issues on preorder day it seems. But once it goes through, I’ve never had an issue with anything Apple related. Plus with my total tech membership, Apple care is included for two years with no additional cost.
This is why I also use Best Buy for 4 of the 6 lines on my account. One line and I do the Apple Upgrade Program, but the other 4 lines get 2 of their 3 years with Apple Care included.

Thanks to you @kupkakez - I will getting the Visible + plan with $10/off and annual payment.

Just read thru the Visible+ plan and just remembered I have an AW9 with cellular.

Plus the hotspot tethering at higher speeds is something I use.

Now if the 16 Pro arrives, I can't wait to switch from TMO to Visible!

For those of you whom have preordered from BestBuy in the past, I assume if you preorder but then cancel the order before pickup you're not assessed the $35 Verizon activation fee. Is that correct? Still debating whether or not I'm getting a phone this year, but I'd like have a preorder locked just in case.

Yes, if you cancel the order, you won't be charged the $35 upgrade fee. If for some reason it posts to your Verizon account, I'm sure you can call them to have it removed.

Since I placed my In-Store Pickup order with BB on 9/13, the status has been PREORDER. This is fine... Pick-up is scheduled for 9/20.

However, for a few days, my credit card showed a PENDING bestbuy charge. Now it has gone away. Usually, a charge goes from PENDING to charged. But my PENDING charge simply disappeared. For those that have ordered from BB, is this normal?

Yes, this is completely normal. The charge will not fully post to your credit card until you pick up the phone from Best Buy and your order is marked as "complete" or "picked up."

I shop at Best Buy quite a bit, so I'm very familiar with the terminology they use for store pickup orders. Up until the day before release, your order will likely continue to say "Pre-ordered: We'll let you know when it's ready." At some point tomorrow (the day before release), your order status should update to say something like “Preparing for Pickup Tomorrow.” Then, shortly after 12:00am Central Time on release day (Friday), your order status should change to "Ready for Pickup." Once your store opens that morning, you should get the "Ready for Pickup" email.

Thanks for the reply... As I mentioned, I am fine with the Preorder status. I am more concerned with my Credit Card charge going from Pending, to disappeared. lol I just have to hope they didnt cancel more order for some silly reason.

Your order definitely is not cancelled. If it were, your order status page would clearly say "cancelled."

I guess I spoke too soon - my order status now says "Preparing for Pickup Tomorrow." 😁

I don't know enough about Best Buy's systems to be able to interpret all of these status messages. But I'm pretty sure the status "Preparing for Pickup Tomorrow" means that the store has received their inventory of the phone and has set aside one of them for your order.

If your order still says "Pre-ordered - we'll let you know when it's ready," then I think that means that your store has not received their inventory of phones or at least has not yet started scanning them into their system. But again, this is just a guess and I could be completely wrong.

Ok. Thanks for the insight. First iPhone preorder for me. I’m hoping I can get it tomorrow. I’ve heard that the status may update tonight after close.

Update: I have the “preparing for pickup tomorrow” not sure why this decided to update at 10:30PM but a win is a win. I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I got this email too…
2 of my 4 phone orders are ready for pickup (2x 512GB Black 16 Pro Max) while a 512GB White 16 Pro Max and a 512GB White 16 Pro got this email.
I know in the past Apple would drop ship them to Best Buy via UPS, so maybe they will come later in the day…

I’m showing the phone in stock “1 left” at a couple other stores near me. Should I cancel my preorder and place a new order at one of these other stores that are showing in stock?

Also I got the “taking longer than expected email” yesterday at 11:09pm.

No idea why I trusted Best Buy, I guess after 3 straight years of seeing others with these issues I assumed they worked it out. I got the same email in the middle of the night and im headed out of town tomorrow so looks like Im cancelling.

Literally all day launch day and even days later they still showed available on release day, guess that was just a lie.
