Text message I got today.

Best Buy: It's taking us longer than expected to get your pre-order ready. We'll let you know when it's ready for pickup.
 
Just spoke with chat and they claim itll be ready for pickup by the end of the day, I don't believe it but we'll see I guess.
 
I’m showing the phone in stock “1 left” at a couple other stores near me. Should I cancel my preorder and place a new order at one of these other stores that are showing in stock?

Also I got the “taking longer than expected email” yesterday at 11:09pm.
I’d say maybe hold the preorder and see if there’s local stock first to hold your place. Just curious but what specific phone did you order (color, size, etc…)?
I placed my orders as soon as I could with that ordering issue last week, so about 1.5 hours in. I feel like I still had a fairly early preorder place since the issues seemed widespread online.
Last night after I got that email, I went to check if I could order either of the white phones from Best Buy. The ATT 512GB White 16 Pro wasn’t even available for preorder (“Notify Me” button exists), while the ATT 512GB White 16 Pro Max had an October ship date.
I am wondering if Best Buy initially didn’t receive much preorder stock of colors for the Pro series outside of black… With my experience, it’s a small sample size here but I don’t have any issues with the order that includes 2 Black 512GB 16 Pro Max phones.

I remember for the 5S (the year Apple didn’t do preorders, right?) I waited outside of a Best Buy in college a few hours before open. There were maybe 10 people in front of me in line and a massive line behind me. I remember the employee telling us that they didn’t receive a lot of stock and that the majority were Black iPhones and a few Gold iPhones. I was able to secure an ATT iPhone 5S in black, but many around me went home empty handed due to the so-few iPhones that Best Buy initially received. This was also during a time when separate SKUs were used for carrier… So you needed to match: carrier, color, and GB size

The only hope I have here is that Best Buy doesn’t receive iPhones on a normal “truck.” They’re drop shipped via UPS packages, so I imagine Apple could have a UPS shipment coming to Best Buy today still.

Or at least, that’s how it used to be way back when I worked in Best Buy Mobile yearssss ago…

I ordered my phone at 9:43am on pre order day during the AT&T verification issues. It’s a 16 Pro 256GB Desert. I might wait until maybe 10:00am when the stores open to see if my order status changes. If not I’ll try to place a new order for pickup at a store showing in stock.

Ok so not a Black Pro series either.
Yeah not a bad idea since it won’t activate until the order is completed and all. So if you find a location with one, upgrade then cancel the order.
 
Interesting, UPS is bringing 3 iPhones from 3 different places today
Apple 16PM Desert - straight from China, through Louisville
BB 16PM Black - UPS ground Local warehouse in Bell, CA
BB 16P White - UPS Air Texas warehouse

My new order just became ready for pickup and it says mobile plan activated.

So even if my original preorder arrives today I wonder if it will be able to be processed since a mobile plan has already been activated…

I tried to do this with an AT&T order but it failed and told me i wasnt elligible unfortunately.

This was stuck in the preordered state, along with that email saying “we are running behind with your order.”
I got an email saying “your preorder is now available.”

Cancelled and getting mine at Apple Store, they never got mine and Apple thankfully had the model I had ordered. Going to pick it up in an hour, really frustrated with Best Buy again.

So strange one of my orders out for delivery but the other says plane delay and now stuck in Florida recent scan. I am west coast

My wife's phone ran into a delay with UPS. Something about some mechanical issue with the plane from Louisville to WI. Currently stuck in Rockford, IL and UPS updated to Monday. She isn't going to be too happy, but thankfully I'm the tech nerd out of the bunch, not her.

I didn't even upgrade this year, but I still love new tech so wanted to help her set it up.

My tracking currently says "Label Created....Estimated delivery:UPS doesn’t have possession of the package yet. Estimated delivery date will be available as soon as we get the package."

Anyone else from Best Buy and Verizon?
