[QUOTE Tax was 6.75% on the $850.

I bought it online and they charged me too much tax. Perhaps it is a problem just with best buy online purchases.

Nope it is a problem is store as well. If you want to see an example of what is taking place online and in store price out a 5c with a package and at the Replacement (Phone only) price.

If you go on to their site right now and try to price out a 32GB 5c bundled with a plan ($68.92tax) vs. one that isn't on contract or considered a replacement ($63tax) there end up being a $5.92 difference at a 9% rate. Not sure what they are doing, but they do appear to be overcharging on sales tax in CA.

Best Buy didn't charge me for something. $320 out the door Verizon 32gb space gray. That includes the $30 upgrade fee

Upgrade fee is charged by verizon and would be on your bill. Best Buy wouldn't collect that fee.

Tried that twice no luck. I guess I could pay $2 to have it unlocked. I tried doing a price match today via phone and they said they couldn't. They informed me I would need to return the iphone and repurchase it...

Don't do that. You have to fax AT&T your receipt so they know you didn't get the phone at the upgrade pricing. I had to do this with my 5 that I paid full retail for. As for price matching, they have to do it in store. They'll probably do a return and then repurchase it with a gift card or something to avoid you having to swipe your card again.

What is the $50 gift card promotion? Just for people whose order got screwed up? My order was processed smoothly but I got no gift card...

Back in February they let you sign up to get a $50 gift card if you buy a phone. Use by end of this year. Waiting till November for the 5s to drop to $149 to trade in my 5

My experience with Best Buy... I should've known better.

In an email I sent to them...

Best Buy Customer Care

Did anyone else notice the missing digit in the phone number listed? That's the explanation I get after buying and reserving an iPhone online only to have them sell it to a walk-in customer last Friday.

Needless to say, Best Buy won't ever see my business ever again. Customer service has gone extinct.

I got the iPhone I originally wanted at the Apple Store this afternoon, so Best Buy can kiss my ass.

Did anybody who paid full price for an AT&T model successfully price match a price of $649? If so, how exactly did you go about it? I can't find any websites listing a price of $649 for the AT&T model... only for the T-Mobile model...

So, I tried to get them to price match the $899.99 but no dice. I did get them to finally credit me for the wrong sales tax amount. I think everyone in CA who ordered online had some whack tax amount that made no sense. I was on the phone for a 1/2 hour for $9, not even worth the time really... but they did also give me a $20 gift card as well... so far my experience with BB has been mixed. I had to fight like hell to get the phone I ordered online but I got a $50 gift card then, now the $20 gift card I guess I am $70 ahead of most at this point.

Thanks for the info. What was the reasoning for not price matching? That it's a "contract phone" or that Apple's website does not list the non-contract price for the phone?

BestBuy is legit!! I'm so happy I found this thread!! Got a 16gb AT&T space grey on release day'. Then on Saturday I went and exchanged it for a silver one, and today I went and got a gold one ( the original color I wanted)!! Oddly, some stores only got grey, some only got silver, and some only got gold.

Took you a min to make up your mind there buddy. :)

Yes I had them price match for. All I did was literally ask why they are charging $50 more. They guy said they shouldn't be and matched the price, no issues at all.

I tried the 5th ave and union square locations in nyc and neither would price match....

If you are having a hard time having them price match have them look at their own Best Buy Low Price Guarantee policy that includes Apple.com as one of their defined "designated major online retailers".

Also have them look at their own forum where Maria from corporate has responded in the following thread that "As long as all the conditions are met, you can certainly request a price match for the iPhone 5S."

Hope this helps.

Very helpful indeed, thanks.

The problem I have with Best Buy is they say they have iPhones available on the website and when you get to the store they say they have none available. They tell me it shows models available but they are for people that pre ordered.

Just scored a white 32GB (ATT) at Best Buy! I was at the mall for lunch and said what the heck. Funny thing is I checked the inventory on bestbuy.com and showed unavailable for everything. When I got there they had a bunch of space grey and a few white, no gold. Asked the lady and she said they have had them since yesterday. So apparently Best Buy inventory is not realtime...

Just to update on the price matching stuff. Since I ordered my Iphone 5S online and did an in-store pickup, it's technically an online order, so I called to try to get a price match. They said it's impossible for them to price match online orders except at the time of purchase, UNLESS Best Buy.com itself is the source of the lower price.

They said I may be able to get the price match done at the physical store I picked the iphone up from, but otherwise, no dice. Maybe I'll give that a try this weekend.

No theirs is not realtime. Nor was Target's last time I checked. Just a general tidbit of info. :)

Told me the same thing. Won't have any for others until late October blah
