So, as many did, I woke up at 2:55 EST and didn't get checked out until after 3:10. Wanted 7+ Matte Black 256GB (date had already slipped) so I got 128GB instead (date was still 9/16). Got my confirmation email and it estimates 9/26-9/29. Frustrating.

I just checked Best Buy's website and they bascially have everything available for 9/16 except Jet Black. I wonder if this is accurate. Has anyone pre-ordered from Best Buy before? Did it deliver when stated?

Also, how long will it take for my line to be available for upgrade after I cancel my Apple.com order?

Thanks!

in my previous experience it's a crapshoot. The dates they quote are just based on the release date, not necessarily their ship date, and in store stock is completely random (last year, the rose gold 6s+ took like 4-5 days to be ready for pickup after the release date despite the preorder being for the release date).

 I figured it might be too good to be true.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm definitely going to be showing up as soon as Best Buy opens on 9/16 either way. The past couple years they have had plenty of iPhones in stock on release day. Even if my preorder says it is not ready, I'm hoping there will be some in stock at which point I will just cancel the preorder.

Update: Best Buy website is now showing the iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB (AT&T) as being out of stock both for shipping and in store pick up. Hopefully this is a good sign, as it shows that the website was just not updating when it said 9/16 delivery date.

I preordered the iPhone 7+ matte black 256 gb from Best Buy and got confirmation email at 3:08 am. I can't seem to find any other threads about people preordering the iPhone 7 or 7+ from Best Buy -- maybe bad experiences in previous years have scared people off from ordering from Best Buy? In which case, hopefully they will be able to ship/deliver on the 16th?

I ordered at Best Buy at 310a. Ordered the Jet Black 128gb for in store pickup. Can't wait till next Friday to get the phone.

Also, you get $25 in reward certificates when you order a phone from Best Buy if you sign up for their free mobile program.

This is exactly what I am thinking and hoping for! I want to either chat or call Best Buy later today and see if I can get any further info.

Should read the Note 7 forums on Android Central. Best Buy only got a handful in and told everyone they will get their devices whenever they arrive and they had no idea when that would be. It is my hope they figure it out better for everyone and don't over sell but in the past the only get a handful of every size and that's it. It's a slow process.

Again I hope for everyone's sake it is as expected.

Thanks!

The one time I canceled an order with AT&T and reordered with Apple, it took less than an hour for the eligibility to be restored. I would guess it would be the same for the reverse as well.

This is kinda why I chose to ship to me this time. The past few times I reserved for in store pick up, it was quite a mess.

fingers crossed!

I've been trying to find experiences from previous years of pre-ordering for home delivery from Best Buy, but every thread I encounter is about in-store pickup. In that situation the general outcome is that many people do not get their phones on release day.

Best Buy is definitely saying that they intend to deliver pre-orders on 9/16 (the phrase they use is "get it by 9/16" when selecting a shipping option), but I wouldn't be particularly surprised if a lot of these orders slip.

I missed my alarm last night so I went ahead and put in an order at BB at ~2:00 AM. Should know on Wednesday whether or not they're really going to deliver.

As someone who worked for bestbuy mobile for a few years and personally worked 2 apple launches,we never had enough phones to fill our preorders. When we did get phones in it was only a handful and for all different carriers. So don't hold your breath for launch day for your phone. It will say you will get it at launch, however the last minute you will get an email from corprate apologizing for the mishap and they didn't get enough phones to preorder.

After reading all of the comments, I probably would have been better off sticking with my 7+ Matte Black 256GB ATT Apple order set for Sep. 23-26 (or 27, i can't remember)... however, when i saw the delivery time for best buy still on launch day, i was able to cancel the Apple order and get one ordered with the date still showing up as september 16 at 1pm CST on best buy. When i checked back an hour later, phones began showing up unavailble for shipping and pickup with the exception of the rose gold colorway. Really wanted to try and get it here for a special occasion next weekend but we will see.

I knew not to try for in store pickup due to a previous incident with the Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this year. So I will try my luck with the shipping option this time. Hopefully it goes well being shipped to me and is actually delivered on the 16th.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news or anything, but Best Buy's pre-orders have never been guaranteed availability in store on release day. It puts you in line to get one as the store receives stock, which for the most constrained models, can be some time after release...

Edit: Looks like Surfer13134 beat me to the punch, pretty spot-on accurate.

See how the pre order system works at bestbuy is let's say Bestbuy as a whole puts in an order for 100 thousand units, that means Bestbuy will open up 100 thousand spots for preorder. This doesn't mean Apple is going to provide Bestbuy with 100 thousand units, they will only get a quarter of that. Then corprate looks at what stores got the highest number of preorders and prioritize phones that way. Samsung was able to fulfil almost all preorders because 1) it's not as popular as the iPhone and 2) they don't sell through their own store like Apple does so they can send more units to 3rd Parties. I just checked with the mobile manager at my store and we have already gotten 350 preorders,I can tell you 100% we will not get 350 phones in for launch.

And 200 of your pre-orders were probably for Jet Black

Just called Best Buy and had mine switched from in store pick up to being shipped to my house. Hopefully that will work out better as it seems in store pick up does not usually go well.

Yea I know right! I didn't get to ask,I'll find out tonight which phones will get in. Talking with the Mobile Manager we will be contacting people the day before letting them know that their phone is in and set up an appointment to come get the phone. If you don't get a call you can call us and we can tell you. Our store is run pretty well so we stay on top of things, however other stores may slack and not call you till the launch day.

That would be the best as you get it straight from the warehouse.
