When buying the iPhone X at full price, does Best Buy allow you to choose any carrier version without having to already have an existing account with that carrier? And will that phone be fully unlocked and able to be activated on another carrier immediately without having to first activate on the original carrier?
I'd like to get the universal CDMA/GSM model that's only sold for Verizon/Sprint, but use it with AT&T or T-Mobile instead.
I don't have an existing VZW/Sprint account so Apple Store won't let me buy those carrier versions. And if I buy the ATT/TMo version I'll get the GSM-only model.
Can I buy the Verizon X full price at Best Buy, and use it immediately with my own carrier without first having to activate it on a Verizon plan?
Same, but they price match Amazon now. I use Amazon for reviews and buy at BB. Never had any issues with returnsI usually visit Best Buy right before I’m ready to buy something from Amazon lol
Ever since Best Buy pretty much put all competition into bankruptcy, now they are just another huge company who makeup everything.
Buying anything from them will cost you more than if you buy it online.
This price gouging is just obviously taking advantage of people who want the X. Worst part? There will be plenty who will buy from them anyways not knowing this.
Whenever you go to their mini Apple Store, their staff doesn't really know the products, they push the wrong devices, and give terrible advice. Not sure why they can justify passing on extra costs to their consumers when they aren't the best shopping experience for iPhones these days.
They killed Circuit City and Radio Shack. They have the right idea on price match but why this move?No it won't lol. They price match! What competition did they put into bankruptcy?
They currently only use 1 of the 3 buildings at their HQ. They rent the other two out. I know US Bank uses a good part of one of them and there are other companies leasing space in the Best Buy HQ too.
I can't tell you the number of times I've been contacted by Best Buy about jobs with their company. While they sound like great opportunities (generally director and VP positions), there's not a chance in the world I'd work for a company that unstable. It's only a matter of time before they lay off another 300+ people suddenly.
Most of their customer service is outsourced outside of US. I had to file a BBB complaint to get someone in US to respond.
It usually only happens when I order something online for in-store pickup... because the pickup desk is in a different part of the store, and not near the checkout lines... When I am actually buying in the store, I don't remember ever being stopped for a receipt.
Coming from an employee, any bad experiences you've had, has likely been changed in the past few years because Best Buy has basically changed a lot of the things they do. There is a lot more extensive trainings employees do.
One thing I do want to add, restocking fees are there for people who buy items, use them for one thing and then return them because they don't need them any more. There's only restocking fees on anything that's activated to a carrier (phones, smart watches w/ cellular, cellular tablets, etc.), DSLR cameras and lenses, built-in appliances, drones, and a few other things. Best Buy puts a restocking fee on those things because ultimately they lose money on that. If you don't like it, don't sign for the restocking fee and don't buy it.
And if you really don't want to buy from Best Buy because of this one thing, then oh well. Best Buy has really turned it around in the past ten or so years under Hubert Joly. The My Best Buy rewards program is pretty awesome, Elite and Elite Plus extended return policies are great, and price matching is the best thing that we do.
And I will add that yes, the price increase is kind of stupid, but that is ONLY on the unlocked version and not the carrier financed devices.
and price matching is the best thing that we do.
