TRE isn't our system. Good try.

3) How Does the System Work?

When a consumer wants to make a return, a retailer will scan the original sales transaction receipt and/or swipe the individual’s driver’s license or government-issued ID card (including passports) to make an identification of the person and his/her unique return behavior. As customers return merchandise, both from in-store and online purchases, the system compares variables such as return frequency, dollar amounts, and/or time against a set of prescribed rules that form that particular retailer’s return policy.

Now you know. So instead of taking a position of being all knowing, do a little research, or say you don't know. Try that at work... if you don't know, say I don't know, let me look.

apple needs to shut them down for gouging. I hate buying from them anymore anyway. Everything I have bought lately has restocking fees. They even tried to charge me $150 to return a product that didn't work out of the box.

But it’s ok when authorized retailer sell for less than apple.

I have returned 2 things there both over $100, full refund and both were opened.

I NEVER said I was all knowing. I said that I don't know for sure. I said that I was guessing. So STOP putting words in my mouth.

Last time I checked Amazon, B&H, and every other major online retailer offers simple, no-cost returns. The more important question is why does the US still have "changed mind" returns that are more lenient than anywhere else in the world? Many countries, especially Asia and the middle east, when you buy something, they unpackage it in the store so you can try it, show you that it works, and then there's no returns, and if they do allow them, have STEEP restocking fees. The US return policies are the most lenient in the world

LOL. Apple gives a MSRP just like any other product maker. And like any other manufacturer, u find stores selling those products at below msrp, at msrp, and above msrp. Pretty routine. You actually think they can force a store to sell at aprice they want?

You might want to re-check your posts. You stated several things as fact. I think you even said FACT several times. Now that someone points out the error in your corporate brainwashed retail employee training, you backtrack and say you don't know and that it was just a guess. Classic.

You're exemplifying why people are commenting like they are in this post. People by in large don't like Best Buy. Some for reasons of their employees, some for reasons of the way the company operates saying things like the title of this article this thread is all about. I don't blame YOU personally for being a bad BBY employee, I blame the company for doing a bad job as a corporate retailer training properly.

Of course they can. Sony and Bose are prime examples. They have vendor agreements that prohibit selling at above or below MSRP unless specifically authorized sale by those companies. It's been that way for years. Same thing as Samsung has vendor agreements with retailers like BBY or Amazon which prohibits them from displaying a sale price below a certain discount without the customer putting the item into their check out process. You do realize this is a very common thing, right? Why do you think the coupons from BBY or BB&B or Target always say "Prohibits Apple, Nest, Sony, Bose, etc etc etc" ??? Because they have explicit agreements with those manufacturers not to discount them. LOL

The people who are disrespectful to me, I will not go out of my way to help you. If you are nice to me, I will do everything I can to help you. Being nice goes a long way. We deal with some real crappy people that throw a fit when they don't get their way.

Bingo. I was thinking the same thing about all these "negative Nancy's" a few pages back...the people that walk into BB all pissed off get nothing. If you're polite, calm, even (dare I say) friendly, you're more likely to get what you are asking for. Some people live in or come from a culture where yelling is the norm.

No, they don't occupy 3. My friend hasn't worked there for about 3 years, but if you're telling me they went from 1 building in 2014 to 3 buildings in 2017, yet lost 1\3 of their stores to their failing business, I have an island in Nebraska to sell you.

I know exactly where it is. I worked in the Meridian Crossings building 100 yards a way for a year. But yeah, I guess I don't know where their campus is.

I work at corporate, pretty sure I know how many buildings they occupy. I was in all three of them today.

Best Buy is DISGUSTING. I've only bought maybe 10 items from them in the last 2 years. At least 3-4 items I'd order online for in store pickup, it'd charge my card, and I'd get an email saying no longer in stock, and order cancelled, or I'd get to the store and it'd be an item that the box is opened and fondled. Disgusting disgusting store.

Best Buy has the same future as CompUSA, RadioShack, and Circuit City. There's no place for them now that Amazon has expanded same\next day delivery to almost every major market. Walmart\Target will fill in the gaps where people need to go\see\touch\buy quick.

RIP BBY

You forgot to mention that the 10 items you ordered were probably price mistakes or ridiculously priced items that you thought you were going to score on, and they went fast. I've NEVER had that happen to me buying normal things from BB.

Best Buy is my ‘tester’ store now. I buy, use it for about a week, then back it goes.. If I really liked said product, I get it online.

BB can go F*** themselves in to oblivion!
Thanks for abusing the system that was meant to be used by people with morals.

I'm always nice. I get the struggle for the employees because I've worked retail and service industry jobs in my past so I know what complete entitled idiots come through the door. However, when an employee says something they just pull out their you know what, it is upsetting. Lots of retailers train their employees poorly, but one thing everyone should take self accountability for is that it's okay to say I DONT KNOW. As we just saw with this BBY employee, he a) said he knew exactly what he was talking about, b) told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Then backtracked when evidence disproved his assumed position on the subject. That's typical retail employee behavior. This is why people get mad.

The best experience I have in retail stores is going in, asking for something, and having the employee say I don't know the answer, but let's go try and find a resource that can help. I don't expect anyone to know it all, but everyone should know how to find answers and know to say they don't know when they don't know.

People willl just get it elsewhere, then.
Actually someone could just go buy it on the month-to-month program and then when they get the phone they can pay the full price on the carriers website. I know this does not apply to everyone but many people could potentially do it

PLEASE QUOTE ME! Obviously not going to. The things I said which I said were true are correct per our company policy.

There are NO restocking fees at BB that I know of anymore.. I can't be banned because I don't have a stupid BB account so they have zero info on me as far buying\returning logistics are concerned!

I actually want **** Buy around so I can continue to test drive new products !!

They have screwed my pre-orders so many times..and their CS is so ******..I have NO regrets for contributing to their free fall!!

For quite some time, BB takes a copy of your drivers license (ID) when you return something pricey. Either you haven't returned anything in a long time, or you buy very low cost items.

With Best Buy doing price match and Amazon charging tax for almost every state now. It makes sense to buy from Best Buy sometimes

Well clearly your experience doesn't align with most people judging by reviews, feedback, and comments here. And no, I don't order price mistakes. I order online for in-store pickup so I can go in and get out. I've lived in 4 major cities and it's always the same experience. If I go online and it says they have stock of something, countless times I've gone and they have them, but they're torn open boxes, or they have one left and it's clearly been returned. If you haven't experienced this I'm not sure where you live, but I'm jealous, because I've lived in 4 cities and been to probably 50+ best buy stores over the years and never had a GOOD experience.

My previous pre-order for an iPhone was with Best Buy. Some BB employee was nice to give a $100 discount for a PS4 slim back in May. I was supposed to get a $100 gift card from a LG G5 (Sprint) promo but it expired and he was cool enough to give me $100 off on the PS4 when they had some in stock. Only paid $200.

I have saved TONS of money from Best Buy whether weekly deals or Black Friday. I don't mind giving them an extra $100. Carriers are worse. All of them are leeches. Offering you free phones to add new lines you don't need. The key is no money down and I can cancel at any time without losing any money.

I remember the pre-order for iPhone 4 was $50 down. BB has been good to me. I don't mind the $100 extra. I have a ton of free downloaded movies from torrent sites that should have went to that store. Give a little back to these stores.

November 10 for iPhone 10 sounds good enough for me. Gives me a week to decide if I want it after I read some YouTubers and user reviews. Spending $1200 for a phone is no joke. Even being #17 for BB pre-orders at the Yorba Linda store sounds great. I love 2017!

No wonder why Apple Store has huge success. They respect people.

Best Buy will die. They revamped the Best Buy where I live like 4 times the last 5 years. They are now basically a showroom for brands with mini branded shops next to each other. Google has a big space now, empty of people. Videogame corner has shrunken, which means Best Best isn't making money on videogames. Overall it’s a sad experience to go to Best Buy now.

Compared to an Apple Store full of outdated hardware? How is that better?

I have never had an experience like you describe. I've been an Elite Plus rewards member for 3 or 4 years running. Sometimes their prices are higher than other retailers... I politely ask for a price match, and I'm on my way. Online ordering for delivery and/or in-store pickup has, likewise, never been an issue.

Illegal for a return where you have a receipt in many states (California at least). There was a law suit where one of the big retailers, Nordstrom I think, was asking for ID on returns years ago and got slapped. They can only do it in certain situations where no receipt is present.

This is very interesting, I would like to see the idiots that actually purchased from them!!

Hi! I’m one of these “idiots”. :)

Is it dumb for an AT&T customer who wants an unlocked *Verizon model* (because it’s the better model with the better modem that works on all carriers) to pay 100 for this privilege?

The stupid Apple Store checkout doesn’t permit this scenario - forcing you to go through carrier confirmation UI that blocks the user from doing this.

Also, because I’m getting it on launch day, I can sell it on CL for a 300-500 upcharge.

Who’s stupid?

I was Elite Plus until last year, simply from buying a Macbook Pro or two a year from BBY ... didn't do much for me except the extended return period... but I don't "rent" things like some comments on here seem to do. I just trust buying from Amazon more these days. I know I'm far less likely to get something opened\returned than from BBY
