OS3 made the Series 0 blazing fast. I honestly can't foresee the dual core making that much of a difference that I'll want to upgrade.

My next concern though is how it will hold up for OS4? Will it stay relevant?

Would the cost of putting AppleCare on it be worth it? What happens in 2 years with series 0 doesn't exist? Would they replace it with a series 1?

Except that they didn't raise prices on the 7+ though. Last year the 128GB 6S+ was $949, for the 7+ this year the 128GB is $869. So it's actually $80 less....
I do view it as them raising prices. Price of entry is higher, highest end price is higher, and average selling price will be higher. You just get more capacity for your money.

Have you been running a beta of Watch OS3 on the original watch? I'd hoped that the new OS would make it a bit speedier. If so this is great news for those of us not upgrading to the new hardware.

I have been running the beta and its loads better than OS2. OS3 is basically what the watch should have been from the start.

I can't speak for OS4 as I don't know. I would say that it should get OS4 and it shouldn't be a problem, but I really don't know, for the price though I can't complain. Also I think AppleCare is worth it for $49 dollars I've used it twice and both times I got an express replacement and they didn't even charge me the $99. As for what will happen in 2 years, I can't tell ya. I'd assume they would have refurbs or something.

I pre-ordered the series 1 watch and a now rethinking that big time.

Is the processor really worth $110?

After having my first gen for 3 days I'm glad I passed on the series 1 for $299. I only want the watch for notifications and the built in core apps such as calendar and the heart beat stuff. I upgraded to Beta 3 and the watch works fine for what I want it to do.
However I do plan on upgrading it when Apple updates it in the next 12 to 18 months. I'll sale it for maybe $100 to $120 so that's another reason for buying cheap upfront. Just look at what happened to the current resale. Many people paid $400 to $1000 for these watches so how can you resale a first gen Apple Watch when you can buy a new AW Series 2 for $400?

I still see Apple supporting the first gen when it comes to OS4 but only if OS4 is released next year. When the third generation comes out in roughly 18 months I would say no. Now if Apple releases OS4 in 18 months I would say no. Just an educated guess because in 18 months the first gen will be 3 years old.
For me I'm just going to enjoy the Watch for the next 12 to 18 months. So many things tech wise could happen in that time

Went ahead and got the 42 mm sport with nylon band Open Box for 180. It still had the plastic on the watch.

Will be taking back my series 1 when it comes in the mail.

$180? Was that an in-store find? Online the 42mm's are $198 for open box.

Yeah, best buy sent me a 10% off coupon that didnt exclude apple watches for some reason. the open box price was 200.

$159 for 38 Sport refurb
$189 for 42 Sport refurb
$249 for 38 SS (both colors) new, black in store only
$349 for 42 SS (both colors) new, black in store only

New on Best Buy's website this morning: $449 for Gen 1, 38mm SS link bracelet. That's $500 off.

The strange thing is, I don't think Best Buy sold any link bracelet models before today? I don't remember seeing any on their website.

Picked up a 38mm SS new for $250 These are a steal!

Got to get a credit for this, I paid $349 last week at BB. That extra $100 off will definitely come in handy. Thanks for posting, never thought to check cause I didn't think it would go for cheaper than what I got it for.

42mm Space Grey and Nylon Band (hate those rubber ones...). $219

They were out of the smaller, but am glad I got the bigger one.

Plus I think the Nylon Bands are extra now with the new series?

Didn't think I'd ever wear a watch again, but I have to wear one at work.

Plus there's more apps I'm interested in.

I'm liking it a lot more than I thought I would.

The retail is $349, but all too often I'd walk in there and there's always a sale on them for $100 off (and the smallers were $75 off).

So the savings was really only $30...

The SS link band is $450 on it's own. If you're getting a S2 and wanted the SS Link bracelet anyway, this is like getting a Gen1 for free.

I was thinking grabbing a Series 0 instead of replacing my refurb Jawbone Up2 that keeps slipping off my wrist whenever I work out. I was looking at the Fitbit Charge HR since it displays the time and has a HR monitor - but instead of another "fitness tracker only" device for $120-$130 I figure why not pay another $40-$50 and get something that does more - especially if Watch OS3 is a winner - which it sounds like it is.

Grab one on sale and try it out, you can always return it.

Run, don't walk though as supply is definitely dwindling especially at Best Buy.

Why does it say "smooth Grenada leather band" Yea that's probably a typo.

Ok you talked me into it since payday is tomorrow lol

I preordered the S2 Nike+ Apple Watch for my wife which won't be in until late next month - she was pretty adamant about that one being the one she wanted. I don't think she'll like that I got an Apple Watch before she gets hers even if it is the older model - but I'll just let her know that you told me to do it and that I cracked under peer pressure :)
