I purchased on B.B. because Apple didn’t come up or become reliable until 120am mdt
I saw B.B. offered the carrier payment or purchase it outright for 100 over list.
I understand people are upset but the info was right there?
I knew by reading online for 5 minutes days before they marked it up and wouldn’t price match. I hope everyone gets what they feel they deserve back. I felt bad for the Best Buy reps today. Most of the angry pressed go before absorbing the situation

So I have two iPhone X's confirmed for paying pull price with in store pickup on 11/3.

I've heard nothing about a cancellation. Will this still be honored and available?
Going to be pissed if I have to go to the back of the line at Apple for the full price option after waking up at 3am to order...

When the kids in the thread go to bed, anyone have an answer here back on topic?

I don't know why people are acting like the pricing thing is something new that BBY is doing just b/c it's the iPhone 10. The iPhone 8, 7, 6S, 6, ect were all priced higher. It's all about margin. BBY doesn't make anything off an apple product. You can thank Apple for that one. Hell the alot of times BBY has Apple stuff a hell of a lot cheaper than Apple, the exception being the iPhone. So alot of times when BBY sells discounted apple stuff, they're losing money. They're damn sure not making anything.

So spare me with this price gouging nonsense. Like seriously, the company is just trying to make money like any other company. The margin on Apple stuff is horrible. So they mark up the full retail price of iPhones to try and make up at least some of loss. But some of yall are acting like BBY was trying to secretly do this. Like seriously, it was on the website in plain view. And alot of times if you politely ask a BBY person to price match (as long as you're not a dick about it), they will. It's business people, nothing personal. I just find it ironically hilarious that Apple fans, of all people, are going off on another company for supposed price gouging and being greedy. Apple, the same company that charges like 80 bucks for chargers for their various gadgets, that you can get from best buy and other retailers for a fraction of the cost. Child, please

Wait, really? I got refunded the $100 after I called for a price match.

I tried for hours on the phone and in online chat. Price matching pre-orders was always against policy but you used to be able to get it done with manager approval however they instituted a specific policy for the iPhone X stating that they would not price match whatsoever for the iPhone X.

They probably would have continued to price match it in stores until a big stink was made about the $100 online

Excellent point !

They do need margin. And why bother exerting the labor force to work for a product launch release event from a business standpoint if it's a zero sum or even a loss to make it happen.

Because the new trend is to make mountains out of mole hills it seems. Everyone here that is whining about it and how bad BB is, isn't even buying one from them, but feel they have to make a big deal about it.

There are SO MANY other scenarios in retail where the business is selling something for more than retail and people can't hand over their credit card fast enough. Ever buy wine in a fine restaurant? Twice the retail price, but to people swear and bad-mouth the restaurant and promise never to go back?

People here make no sense.
This, here's a great example for you too. RAM. The Apple price is way over what anybody else charges.

They don't make any money on Apple products? What / where is your source for this claim?

I can't help but think this isn't about scalping people for $100 but about forcing price sensitive 'loyal' customers into a payment plan. Probably in the hope that a percentage of low income customers may default on their payments, thus spiraling into a small debt cycle.

Still say the price for the X is crazy. Might have a face scanner and nice screen but ultimately it’s a Mobile phone and internet communicator at heart.

Yep, BB loses money by not selling carrier financing plans. Easiest way to combat the negative PR is simply not to sell full price. However the one store i avoid unless it's for support is Apple. I'll never shop there unless the item I want is only sold by them. Even for the iphone X, it was through Verizon.

Got mine through Verizon as well. Partly due to me being on the employee plan and also b/c I've had far better luck ordering stuff from them compared to Apple

My source is that I worked for Best Buy for about 4 years in the mobile area. Now I work for the company sort of....I'm a Verizon rep. But even so, I've seen the numbers. BBY doesn't make anything off of Apple stuff. Hell most retailers don't make anything off Apple stuff. The margin is absolutely terrible. That's reason why carrier stores and BBY want you on the installment plans and that's also why alot of corporate stores refuse to sell iPhones outright. It's business. And they wanna actually make money just like any company

Best Buy has always sold current generation iPhones without carrier activation at a $50 to $100 markup. Depending on the rep and/or the manager you deal with, you can get it price matched to Apple's pricing. Since they'll no longer sell unactivated phones, there goes that option.

Amazon will finish off Best Buy soon.
When that happens, everything will cost more. I really don't get why so many think that Amazon is such a saint.. Know what happens often on Amazon? As soon as I buy something that's been sitting in my cart, magically the price goes down. Latest example, a bag of gummy candy I've had in my cart for months which was at $17. Two days after I bought it it went down to $12  Another thing is a small tube of instant tile grout. It used to be $3. No other stores currently sells it, that same tube is now $11.

Where did I say Amazon is a saint? I'm pointing out they have killed essentially all retail and will finish off whatever carcasses remain.

Walmart is about the only one that will survive.

No I suppose you didn't. There are many comments out there who wish that Amazon will kill off Best Buy, so I just had your comment lumped in with those.

It will be the end when Amazon does eventually take over it all.
