Haven't stepped inside a Best Buy in years. Their prices are ridiculous and their employees are idiots. What shocked me most about this headline was that they're still in business.
That means you're basing your assessment on outdated info.

Lately, I've found the prices on BB sale items very competitive. Non sale items are at a par with the rest. Fry's can be pretty expensive overall now, IMHO. MicroCenter is all over the place (Awesome prices on some items. Way, way, overpriced on others)

So I walked into the Apple Store at south coast plaza in Orange County California and the guy working there asked if I'd like to try one on. I said, yeah, sure!
I tried the leather one on and it was surprisingly light weight. Way lighter than it looks or than I thought it would be.
But... The leather band felt really soft. And looked almost dare I say. A little cheap.
The stainless steel looked better than I thought it would and now I want the stainless one. But I just don't like any of the bands they offer. Except maybe the mesh looking one.
But that's the one I dislike the least so that isn't saying much.
The one thing about the Watch is that it is something that you grow into. As it stands now, I've had it for two months, and I look forward to putting it on. It just becomes a nice way to track movement (I've lost 8 lbs so far), check my calendar, monitor my blood sugar (using the Dexcom app), see who is calling without pulling my phone out, and... oh yeah, tell what time it is, quickly and easily. I carry my phone in my shirt pocket, and my watch on my wrist (duh...), and flicking my wrist is just more convenient than pulling out the phone, and our work rules state that if you are walking, you have to stop when you pull out a phone, so it saves time there as well.

The one bad thing about the "try on" experience is that it doesn't do the full depth of the convenience of the Watch. Of course, I went into the whole deal with wanting to like it, and I am pleasantly satisfied with it. I usually have the honeymoon period over after about 2-3 weeks, and it hasn't happened yet. I am still honeymooning with it. (That didn't sound weird at all, did it?)

If you're on the fence, and wanting to like it, give it a go. The worst thing is that you'll return it. The best thing is that you'll have the same experience that I did, and you'll start liking it more and more each day.

I live in California and I've seen a lot of people wearing it. I've talked to about 10 people and I'd say 3 out of ten people said they don't like it or see s point in having one but then again one of those three received it as a gift so perhaps he didn't want it to begin with.
Most people have told me they love it. And majority told me at first they were unsure and had a little buyers remorse "like what is it good for" but then they say it grew on them and they enjoy it a lot. So I'm torn. I'm gonna thing about it longer. I tried I at the store. The apps opened really slowly. So I'll reserve judgement after that new update. Then I'll try again. I want to like it but it isn't up to par just yet. Especially for the price I'm going to pay. In my humble opinion
wow! I just saw that after I posted my original reply to you!

I do not get how this site is focused on Apple products and yet people here have only negative things to say about the Apple Watch. Instead of degrading the product tell us what you would like to change about it? Or if the product just isn't for you don't post, just like an Iphone 6 Plus is not for me!

It seems to me that its the same people wearing a regular 300$ watch saying "they don't need an apple watch" Well guess what, your regular watch only tells you the time as does your phone, so I guess you don't need that either.

The watch is a quality product which should have been released with os 2.0. Although software you can fix, and there is not much to complain about concerning hardware. I can see only benefits from this post, as Best Buy creates competitive prices and more availability.
I see what you did there...

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised that the Watch is coming to BB. Apple never said it was going to be a high-end play only (and $349 isn't high-end anyway). Makes sense to expand distribution to other places that sell iPhones. Not everyone has an Apple Store nearby. Oh and in my state 4 out of the 5 Apple stores we have are located in shopping malls. Nothing high-end about that. I'll be curious to see how they're displayed at BB. Is Apple going to supply BB with the same table they use at Apple stores? I'd be surprised if they're displayed like phones as I could see that causing them to easily get scuffed up and not show well at all.

One good thing about BB is that my company gives those cards for employee recognition. Walking around with $400 in BB cards is a nice thing when a new Apple product comes out, as I can redeem them at full value there.

Seriously? The original iPhone was awesome. Apps made it more useful. The original iPad = Home Run!
Look. I love iPhone, iPad, and AppleWatch but let's be honest.
The original iPhone wasn't an immediate hit or all that awesome. It had very little functionality, it was slow, and it was Edge only. Was it better then other smartphones at that time, yes-ish. But there were many things it couldn't do that kept it from being a true consumer product. It wasn't until iPhone 3G and IPhone OS2.0 with the App Store that iPhone really became a consumer hit.
The original iPad suffered many of the same problem with slowness. But it also contended with the "what do I do with it factor". Many people, including myself, didn't understand why you would by iPad when you already had iPhone or iPod Touch that harmed sales and it wasn't until they got out there and iPad 2/3 that they really became popular in the mainstream.
I expect Apple Watch to be the same. 2nd or 3rd gen will really take off because people will have a better idea of how it works and why it does for them.

Because the Android fanboys are loose from school and they are jealous.

They know that Android OEM's, specially when Samsung is not interested, won't be able to compete with Apple has done.
Nice way to bring Samsung into a topic they have nothing to do with. Smh

The app opened slowly because they're not running on the watch, they're running on the phone (except Apple's own apps). Even if you used no apps at all, the watch has many use, so not sure why you focused on the third party apps. Right now, these third party apps are not the main use of the watch.
But didn't Apple say it would run apps? Not bashing just asking. Kinda seems like Apple relished he watch before it was ready for the prime time

ROTFLMAO

How many years would you say it's been?

I didn't see this one coming. I mean Apple redid its stores to high light he watch, you needed an appointment when they first rolled out. So much for fashion and luxury. I still like the watch and eventually I may buy one, but this counter to the concept apple was pushing and other then trying to drive adoption numbers up, its seems a little desperate.

You could argue the first gen iPad was one of the worst products released under Apple 2.0. Hence why when iPad 2 launched the first gen was discontinued. Apple has received a lot of criticism for not explaining the 'why' of Apple Watch but what was the 'why' for iPad? Because Steve Jobs wanted to be able to read email while he was sitting on the toilet? When Jobs first announced iPad he wasn't pitching it as a productivity device for enterprise. That's exactly where Tim Cook is pivoting to now in an effort to boost sales.

I'm used to leather watch bands - and that's exactly the way I felt - the leather was 'cheap', sort of plasticky feeling.

This swayed my opinion from getting the Stainless Steel with Leather band to the Sport with plastic band. I didn't see much of a band difference for the extra $200.

I've heard the plasticky feel is more 'luxurious and expensive', supposedly. But that's not what I want. I want a leathery leather - and Apple doesn't offer it yet. The plastic bands are surprisingly awesome though.

Oh for gods sake. What's desperate about it? BB sells nearly every other product why wouldn't they eventually sell Apple Watch? What's desperate about wanting to expand distribution of a product? Not everyone lives near an Apple Store and being able to see the Watch and try it on in person is important.

I am mostly curious if Best Buy will sell them cheaper than Apple Stores do. Here in the Netherlands you can (or could, haven't checked recently) save 20 euro by buying an iPad from Dixons rather than an Apple Store or online.

I don't think so, because for the most part they really don't discount other apple products (other then promotions).
