Apples in ear ones are pretty damn good for the price, worth much more than they are. 70$ I think??

The bass isn't anything special but it's good

I've never been a fan of the "beats by dre" series of headphones, but my wife picked me up a set of the Monster Turbines from the monster outlet for $49.99, so I had no choice but to give them a try. IMO they combine the best of everything(for this price range). For the price though you really can't go wrong.

Paradigm just released their earbuds line... as a fan of their home speakers, I'm very interested to see some reviews. While I've been impressed with my Klipsch S4is, I'd trade them in for a pair of the Paradigm E3Ms if they sounds as good as they should.

Finally picked up some B&W C5. The sound is incredible and they stayed in place while jogging. I highly recommend these if you can deal with the $180 price tag.

Monster Turbines are not Beats by Dre.

Yuin PK2s if you are looking for buds. Prob the best earbuds out without a need for a headphone amp. Sound is similar to grado SR80s

Monster Outlet? Does this mean refurbished? Is this a retail store?

Trust me I know that. I was basically referring to when you think of monster headphones most people generalize and think of beats by dre. IMO the turbines are far superior to beats by dre.

I've been wavering on a pair of B&W c5s, but I may wait to see how the Paradigms are reviewed. Does anyone know if they are available anywhere?

They were just released last week, and are available via their website and are starting to roll-out to Paradigm dealers. I'm tempted to just take a chance and pick some up as I've always been impressed with their speakers, but this is a new segment for them.

I saw these a while back but i can't find a decent review for them. how do you like the flat wire? is there any problem with the connector? are the headphones comfortable in-ear?

nope no problems at all with the connector although it is abnormally bigger than expected. Flat wire doesn't bother me but I'm pretty sure its flat for quality reasons, the wiring inside is separate and doesn't touch so you get the most of clarity. IMO they sound great, I've listened to beats by dre and in comparison they sound almost identical and that says a lot price wise. Beats by dre is nothing special your just paying for the name.

The headphones that apple provides are too large IMO and keep falling out of my ears, The astros are light which make it comfortable and stay in, almost feels like I'm not wearing them. Worth every penny i spent if you ask me.

Looking at all the other comments I've noticed no one has mentioned GRADO headphones, if your looking for class and quality check those out. Might be a little pricey but best bang for your buck!

OP I know you said no klipsch, but have you given the Klipsch S5i a try? They're a bit more rugged and supposedly don't break down over time. I have the S4i and I'm getting a little upset with them, I'm really tired of them crapping out on my runs. This pair I have now lowers the volume if I look at them wrong.

In the same vein, can anyone recommend some rugged headphones? I'm sick of these things crapping out.

the ASTRO headphones i mentioned in an earlier post are rugged. $79.99

I think it's lame that the S5's don't come with a remote-less option, like the S4's do. Also I'm just disgusted with Klipsch at this point. I think the S4's are so poorly made with respect to durability. I just have no desire to support them anymore. The problem is that the S4's sound awesome IMO and the earbuds are so comfortable. So it's frustrating because I love the headphones but I have zero faith they can last for long intervals.

if you're looking for durability you probably don't want the a-jays four. i'm on my 3rd set in less than a year. the turn around warranty time is very quick and the customer service is top notch but they just don't last...

i've compared them to the s4is and the s4is sound way better...the fours do look way cool though. i always get compliments and questions about them whenever i'm out using them.

please keep this thread going as i'm looking to get a new set as well...

I'm starting to question how many in-ear headphones truly last more than one year. I think too many manufactures make these headphones too frail/weak/susceptible to breaking. I've never owned a pair of in-ear's that lasted more than 12 months and they were all over $50 at least and I treated them with care always. That's a big reason I don't want to spend more than $100 because I fear they will break.

Right now I'm debating between the Monster Turbines (if I can find them for less than $100 new) or the Ultimate Ears 500 or 600.

I have to question how you use your headphones.
I've had my in-ear headphones for 3 years and they still work wonders. These are really old headphones!
