Anyone found any external battery packs similar to the original post (one which has a built-in lightning connector so that you can just slot it underneath your phone and let it charge). remember having something similar for my iphone 4 and it was really convenient. The whole separate battery pack with a cable seems a bit too much of a faff for me.

You could have save about 20$ and get a better one I think. I want to review the one you have but no reply from the company.

What makes you think the other one "better"?
I mean, can you really make a fair comparison if you haven't even handled one?

I just went for the most capacity I could find. I'm not paying for cosmetics or extra features. I just want something that gets the job done and this is what I found. If this one fails I might look into an alternative but this is what I've got and it's nice.

It's got a lot of USB ports in the back and holds a hefty charge. Seven (?) months using it and so far it still works.

Now we're talking.

You had me at 20800 mah. Even though it has fewer ports I can live with that if its capacity is that much greater. If I ever need another one I'll go for the most capacity I can find. I use them for long flights or trips.

I never go hunting for power outlets in public anymore since I got one.

This one just bumped to the top of my want list.

(BTW. As I recall I got the other one on sale at a good price so it was cheaper ... but I still would have gone for the one you just showed me if it had been available at the time. Thanks.)

Always come and ask me. I reviewed a lot of these. I do not even need an outlet for over a month. I am ready for the next power outage:) look at this pic. These are all mine that I have mostly reviewed:

I do not have the one i recommended above. I have yet to get a reply from the company.

I always wondered if the mah ratings for these is such a precise estimate of their capacity. I suppose the internal cells are sourced from a limited number of common sources so I guess it should be a fairly consistent standard, right?

You get around 65%-80% of the rated capacity. It looses it from power conversions and heat ect. Like the battery I recommended to you was 2080mah, you will get around 65-80% of that for power that is usable. The other percent us lost from many different factors.

Look in Amazon and the reviewer name "JJCEO". He does all the tests and gives a rating on how much of the battery's power was actually useable for charging.

Look at the review of this battery by JJCEO. Great reviewer to answer your QS. This battery blows away any other in terms of size and performance.

You a actually just ordered it? Wow!! The review help you you from JJCEO?
Yes. The review helped a lot. It seems like a well-polished product.

I bought it recognizing that, come January, someone will probably draw my attention to a new 100,000 mAh battery with a titanium chassis for the same price.

I need to stay away from these discussions.

Holy crap dude!

I am struggling to find the right external battery for iPhone 5/5s.

This external battery that I found online are huge, I just need a "little extra"

A simple 500 mah would be enough, that I only had to connect to the iPhone.

I only see huge 5000 mHA or 2800 mha, which naturally are heavy and not thinner.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I think you could have saved some money by getting 2 batteries that combine to 32000.

Tge love of gadgetry isn't about practical considerations alone. I shouldn't think I'd have to explain that to you, Mr. 200,000 mAh

... Besides this one goes to eleven ...

I wouldn't trade my v8 Mustang for two 4 cylinder Hondas. So I'm going to remain content with my obnoxiously high mAh unit. If it were all about cost I'd just invest in a 25" long lightning cable.

At 1lb weight I could also stun an ox if I had to. What's not to love?
