What's wrong with the trademark white Apple headphones?

Other than the fact that sound quality is average and every part breaks within a month.

Lol yeah! A replaceable cable is a must for me now after buying a lot of crappy headphones and the cable falling apart after only a few months. Stay away from the Bose or the Beats un less you like going back and forth to get them replaced.

Seriously if you are buying new headphones save a little more and buy an expensive pair. You will never look back after hearing a good pair of headphones that don't break all the time!

+1.

I tried them and returned because I wasn't impressed.

I just returned them today too and picked up a pair of Sony MDR-EX38iP and i'm much more happy. Half the price, fit better and sound just as good. They have a little less bass but they sound clearer imo

Ok

Ok so everyone has there own opinions on there own sounds.. and to say it all depends on what type of music you listen to..

But overall when your considering headphones..I think the top 2 pairs under 100 dollars would be is:

Shure SE215
Klipsch S4

The Bose IE2 isnt worth the cost.. they sound average. TRUTH

Ultimate ears produces really good earphones, but the thing is that there older models are more affordable.. while the new ones are over priced..
you could get Ultimate ears superfi 4 for 30-40 dollars, which seems a fair deal when comparing with Ultimate ears 600 or 700 considering there just new, and the sound quality is similar.

These other pairs people recommend are good because of the type of music they listen to, if you seek overall performance I would say go for the Shure's or Klipsch. Unless you still wanna recommend something else

So Thanks for everyones comments, there still seems to be some people who are looking for other noise cancelling buds..

More people are leading towards klipsch s4, why is it that it is better than the other brands like UE.

how are the Shure SE215???

I auditioned the Shure SE535, and they are comparable to the 215's, since the 215's are newer maybe they are upto par with the 535?

The 535 costs 499 USD, SE215 99 USD

I have the Shure SE315. They are great isolating headphones. When I'm listening to my music on my iPod Touch, I only need to turn it up half way. Bass is fairly even not to big. Even on hip hop sound, its clear but not to heavy. I'm guessing that its because these headphones are leaning towards a monitoring. But the sound is great especially because it isolates the background noise.

I haven't traveled with them yet, but I suspect that they will work great on the plane. When I'm working in the house, I can't hear any outside noise, including the vacuum.

The only thing that I don't like about them is that I have to keep them clean.

What's your budget? The best IEM for different price ranges are radically different. For example, the Klipsch Image S4i is the best IEM <$100, but there are much better ones above that price. It can even go up to a few thousand dollars.

This is what I use - the Sennheiser IE8. The Soundstage is magical.

The Klipsch Image S4i is not the best for under $100. The HiFiMan RE-ZERO and the Sunrise SW-Xcape are the best, IMO. I haven't seen the Sunrise SW-Xcape on sale anymore though, so it may have sold out or discontinued.

Yep, the soundstage in terms of imagery and sonic width and depth is pretty incredible, I have yet to hear anything better except for a few delicate flowers. One that comes close IMO is the Final Audio Design Heaven S.

I have conducted a research for the best earphones and there seems to be mixed reviews.
Of course there are. No matter what you're discussing, best is always highly subjective. It's fairly pointless to try to come up with some universal best considering that budget, type of music, personal preference, etc all affect how one perceives one option to be best.

I am Etymotic fan. I like balanced sound without any colouration (no excessive bass or treble)

I'd recommend the Etymotic ER-4P that sells for about $200 on ebay. There are cheaper models like the HF5 with a similar sound, but the ER-4P have replaceable cords. I have found I get about 6 months of heavy use before they break (always a jack connection) with IEMs.
I also really like the ER-4P's. They're at the limit of what I'm comfortable spending and I agree with the comments above. If you're like what seems to be most people and prefer exaggerated bass and treble then you'll be disappointed with the ER-4P's.

I haven't had problems with the cords but I typically only use these on flights and sometimes at home so they don't get heavy use.

Try them on an airplane.

They're handy disposable earphones though.

hey

hey.. Well sorry for bumping this thread after some time..

But here are the reviewed headphones:
Shure SE215,
Shure SE315,
Klipsch S4
Klipsch X10i,
Sennheiser IE8,
Westone 4

I have checked all of these earphones, and seek that the westone 4 has more detailed mids and highs while everything else is neutral which is good for some... The Klipsch X10i also does a very good job sounding as good as the Westone 4 .. eventhrough a a single driver... What is your take on the other mentioned earphones..

Please post your own review.. and how much you paid for yours..

I have a pair of Beats Studio in white as well as the Sony MDR-NC60. Both do pretty well as far as noise canceling goes, but the Sony cans are definitely better for a wide range of music. However if you only listen to hip-hop the bass on the Beats Studio is top notch, and they look sexy in white to accompany my white iPhone. :D
