Best Iphone 4 case for death grip, minimal bulk, and protection (ALSO FRONT PROTECTIO

@RebeccaL:

The PixelSkin HD does have a lip but its not very significant and don't consider it to be helpfull if you drop it on the front of the phone. It does seem that many of the manufacturers have designed cases now either with the ignorance (it seems to me) that you only want protection for the back of the phone or that you already have a InvisibleShield.

I looked around:

So far it looks like the two top companies are Icipio and Switcheasy. Some like the Speck CandySell. I'm looking in to Belkin cases. I just got a recommedation to me regarding my requests from the MobileTechReview site. They think that the upcoming to be released Otterbox Reflex Series would be the case that I am looking for:

http://tinyurl.com/3seclwk

As far as having issues with the Iphone 4 naked, I have tested the Iphone 4 and found that touching anywhere on Iphone 4's sides (especially the lower left corner will effect a low bar signal call / 3g connection). I currently have a Iskin Revo4 sillicon case. Buying this case was a complete mistake because it is fully conductive. So, when your in a low bar cell / 3g signal situation, simply laying your phone flat on the table will improve your connection. I always do that to improve my 3g connection and phone calls when needed.

HeyItsRaymond: Remember if you didn't drop your phone on the front glass, then that is not a real drop test IMO.

according to what i have:

switcheasy nude clear - i like to look at my phone but very scary when you accidentally drop it, minimal protection and also the back of it makes rainbows.

SGP neo hybrid ex series - much better than the apple bumper, protects a bit but not from drops. i like the colors i got the white and extra frames of gold and silver ^^

im waiting for my switcheasy rebel white i haven't tried on it yet but i read it offers much protection for my phone..

@Attackcenter

You said you wanted a case as thin as the Incipio Feather. The Otterbox Reflex is far from thin.

And if your phone is so sensitive to loose reception there must be something wrong with it. You should take it to an Apple store.

Speck Candyshell has protected all of my iphones and have been perfect (for me). Great shock protection, cool colors, slides in and out of pockets with ease, the only issue i know of is the "flaking" which goes away after some use. Also, it doesn't add too much bulk for the protection. I carry it in my jeans pockets all the time and i barely notice it.

I just received my SGP Neo Hybrid EX in Gunmetal and I absolutely love it. It's a great alternative to the bumper. It comes with a rubber bumper and then a harder plastic wrap to go around the bumper so it fits nice a tight.

I have a front and back clear protective shield on my iPhone with this case and it looks extremely close to just having it naked. All the good looks of a naked iPhone but full protection. It comes with a front and back shield also, but I already had one installed so I didn't use it.

I highly recommend it.

I bought my case from this store: http://www.panicpot.com/servlet/the-466/SGP-iPhone-4-Case/Detail

I saved about $10 buying from them. They are located in China but it's completely legit. It only took about 1-2 business days to ship the case and I had the case in hand after about 1 1/2 weeks from my order date, not bad coming from China. It is the actual case, not a knockoff.

The Perfect iPhone 4 Case...Is there Such a Thing?

You said, "I want something that is both protective and sleek". I think you can find an iPhone case that will give you the best of both worlds- but I do think you may need to manage your expectations.

I had to buy 2 cases before I found the MicroShell iPhone 4 Case from Marware that I love. It is ultra-thin, but not so thin that it won't protect. I have dropped it, let me young daughter play with it, and have had it in my briefcase pockets and there isn't a scratch to be found.

The truth is that you can spend a lot of your time looking for the perfect case and since design aesthetic doesn't seem to be of concern and what you really want is quality, protection, and lightweight, I would go with the Marware MicroShell personally. For the money its the best case you can get.

Thanks for the recommendations on the Switcheasy cases. I think that Incipo and Switcheasy both have some great offerings.

The SGP bumpers also look very good. If you do get one of these, it looks like you might want to get it from a wholesale dealer, as you might have to replace them in the near future according to reviews at the SGP Store.

The Grffin also looks pretty good, but not really what I'm looking for.

RebeccaL: The Reflex Series case doesn't look very thin, you are right. Too Bad. Looks like a killer case otherwise. I don't think that my phone has reception issues. I have followed this issue early on. There are many spotty areas in the At&t network like the California Bay Area and New York. I happen to live in the California Bay Area. Also what I mentioned has nothing to do with a reception problem. Simply put even if you live in really good At&t reception area, sometime you are going to travel in to low signal area / almost no signal area. I just happen to live and work in those areas. So, I am able to test what happens to this phone simply from the "tuning" problem that exists from touching the left lower corner and to a smaller extent when you simply touch the stainless steel frame while your phone is naked in a very low signal / almost no signal area. If this was something that to a significant extent arrised in a high signal area, then I definately would return my phone.

Alex M: The Microshell case looks to not have front glass lip protection.

Christopher387A: That actually looks like a nice case. I don't like when they leave the volume buttons exposed though. Some of those type of cases may not be bad if they are raised enough over the volume buttons, so when your holding the phone your not touching the buttons at all.

From my observation so far the slider and bumper cases seem to be the best options. As many of them appear to be made out of mostly one material (except for the volume buttons) and not a host of other materials that I don't know insulates your phone from the death grip.

Minimal protection: Incase Snap
Built like a tank: Speck Candyshell
Good in between: Speck Pixelskin HD

The Pixelskin HD is my favorite. Good grip, decent protection, still looks like new after many months of use...

I just got a Candyshell, and it does feel sturdier but not as nice to hold because of the solid plastic.

I got an incipio NGP over the weekend and i think its a pretty good case, other then the fact it does not correctly fit a verizon iphone. The vibrate switch comes right to the bottom of the cut out. You can live with it fine with it but i decided to cut it to fit better with an xacto knife. I can take a pic if any one wants to see.

Is there a case that is basically an Apple bumper with a back? I like the grip, protection (except for the back), and thinness of the bumper, but I want the back covered and to be able to use a 3rd party charger. Incipio NGP or Silicryic, Speck pixelskin HD, SGP Ultra Thin are a few that seem to keep coming up in my searches. I would also like to be able to return it if I don't care for it (either at a physical store or thru Amazon).

Neohybrid EX is a bumper very similar to the Apple one.

And there is a version of the Neo Hybrid with a back, the Neo Hybrid Matte, essentially a Bumper with a back.

Other bumper like cases with backs are the griffin Reveal and Switcheasy Trim.

Iskin also has Lanyards available here:

Not to mention you could get the Voi Iterim case with a Lanyard here:

I disagree with some opinions I've seen on these products. You don't have to always where them around your wrist or neck. The Voi you can keep in your pocket and attach to your wrist only when in use. The Istrap you can put around your neck and possibly slip it in to a front shirt pocket when not in use. I also thought it would be a interesting idea to clip the lanyard to a keyring and just keep the phone in your pocket. The Danglet is supposed to have a security mechanism that releases the strap in an very high pressure to no damage your dock connector.

Wow. I can't believe anyone would wear their iPhone around their neck or strapped to their wrist. No way in hell would I put my trust in this thing to not drop my iPhone, I don't care how many tests they show on video. It also can't be good putting that amount of strain on the Power/Data connection.

At least the 2nd one doesn't use your power/data connection but I would still never want to wear my iPhone. It's only my opinion but to me that's an incredibly horrible idea.

jLp-PR: I checked out the Incipio NGP Black at my local Target and its a great looking case. It's got a pretty nice front lip.

MacDaddy08: I notice a lot of people agree with you. I just don't look at it has having to permanently where it. I look at it as an option to wear it when in use so that you can use your Iphone 4 Naked (optional Bumper) or use a sweet looking thin Voi Interim case (while keeping your phone mint).

Not everyone will agree with me, but I found the Moshi as a great alternative or addition:

http://store.moshimonde.com/ipouch-black.html (Ipouch Black Zen)

A reviewer said: everyone is always shocked when they see my iPhone without a case strapped to it, and amazed that it's always shiny, with not a spec of dust, fingerprints, and no scratches. It looks like it's brand new all the time

I will repeat myself again

if it fit the verizon iphone correctly. And despite what incipio's website says, it does not. I had one. Also the TPU is too sticky when trying to remove the phone from your pocket.
